check out the AP site there is a new le "masato" tribute to japanese k1 fighter. bad design but has an intended market in japan
-
i like the first one but it looks like a nolvelty piece and could get sick of it fast. anyway is that the second pvd case AP has come out with aside from the eod?
-
yes you can just walk in. in our local ap ad. the oem calfskin strap of the black themes is a cool $400 without buckle or deployant
-
yes the barrichelo is what i am looking for thanks!
-
Guys i saw an aerostyle strap for sale in my local ad. they wanted a cool $800 for it:) anyway i want to know if anyone knows of this strap or where i can get one? it was a very sporty calf leather strap with perforated holes on the top part of the strap. similar to a rally strap or aero strap. anyway i have attached a pic of the jaeger ewc as best to describe what i am talking about. id like to get rid of my SS strap.
-
7k for a watch that shows date and time in a plain case..ad about 5 more and you have a roo.
not a good deal.
this days you can get a jlc ewc for 7,5k
i agree for the same price i would defnitely go for the EWC, certainly one of my grail watches!

wasnt there actually a gen offshore with black numbers and a white dial?
I seem to remember something about it. Just would be sad if everyone who ordered a safari, would through them on a shelf for eternaty, because of the flaws.
i was thinking of this as well, white themes maybe? but the white themes has light colored numbers pale green instead of black?? i am removing the strap of the safari and changing it to a black one so as not to confuse it with the safari:)
just got a black themes with ss bracelet , this one is more accurate but have to get used to the bracelet. there are some minor issues though......

there has been some talk of getting the endlinks from oracle straps which is around 90-100 but I'm not sure how they fit AP bands or luxe.
To comment on AP bands, I purchased one of their straps and the quality was not superb considering the price. I purchased their buckle which did not fit the tiny holes in their strap and had to enlarge the holes myself. The stitching has become frayed (with infrequent wear).
thats discouraging

i had the same doubts as well when i first got the watch, so far so good but then again its been 1 week:) i will cross the bridge when i get there......

Along the lines of swapping the metal bracelet on the AP ROO. Has anyone used the rubber strap offered by Angus or Andrew? Curious to know if the conversion kit which comes with the rubber straps would work with the aftermarket straps (StrapLuxe, AP Bands, etc...)?
i just purchased a used ap bands strap from phoman and it came with the ap bands kit. i will try the strap with my existing watch from josh without trying the conversion pieces from ap. . il have updates soon

No, DSN doesn't carry all the reps that other dealers do, and he offers some Panerai reps that NO other dealers do. He offers only a limited selection of automatic movement PAMs. He has a section here at RWG. Why not take a look and see what he's offering?
yup im quite familiar with DSN but was unaware that he did not offer some of the models the others offer and vice versa. damn the pams have such infinite mods its quite confusing. anyway i will narrow my choices down thanks.
any feedback about this chap pamfried? seems to be an authority on pams as well.
-
1. DSN hasn't got the PAM212...only the PAM217
2. MBW...PAMs?!!!
you've seen MBW's PAMs?!!!...you might be the only one in the world who saw them...
i assumed coz i saw a guy named pamfried in rg who was also carrying specialized pams. i assumed they would be mbw since he also has the mbw aproo. i guess i made the wrong assumption.
by the way i checked site of josh he has the ones i like as well, are all these the same as what DSN have? the pams are one of the reps with so many sources
-
guys considering my first pam rep i am considering either a pam 217 or pam 212. both guys seem to be great but davidsen is the more prolific one. may consider the mbw coz of the very fine reputation. ive seen the work of both and they are damn awesome! can you guys help me out? thanks
-
another vote for josh! have two watches from him and they are great. however pick wisely as some of the watches are not so accurate. if you do your homework you will be happy.
-
Well you basically have 2 legit choices if you are going aftermarket for AP ROO:
1) AP Bands - someone on this board really hates their straps. Who was it? you might want to ask them why
2) StrapLuxe - only have croc straps
3) Oracle Straps - cheapest route but dont offer croc straps
On a safari, I think you have to get a croc strap for it to look the sweetest and the most gen. appearance.
thank you sir! you saved me a lot of searches. but yes i have been thinking of either the ap bands or strapluxe. they ap bands with the adapters are quite pricey but worth it. more than what im willing to spend as i pulled the trigger on a SS BLACK THEMES ss bracelet:)
regarding the ap bands or strapluxe, is it a straightforward swap or would i need the adapters? from what i gathered the strap luxe watches will not need them but the ap bands will need the oem adapters to attach to the watch.

MBW/MBK has one of the most accurate dials and good quality cases one of the best reps out there unfortunately it is not sec @12. other dealers already carry the sec@12.
when we say sec@12 it means the subdial on "12" is the seconds counter which is exactly the same as the gen. on the mbws the sec subdial is situated at "9" which is a dead giveaway. this is a small detail but big enough for me a reason on not pulling the trigger on a MBW/MBK

Unfortunately it is rubbish. If you have ever seen one of the replacement bands sold by AP Bands you would see how poor the rep band is. No disrespect intended but the rough unfinished backing of the strap in your photo is a dead giveaway of a typical cheap rep strap. That is supposed to be a 20k plus watch and it has a $20 strap on it. That is a nice watch but far from a perfect rep. It has visible flaws.
should i change the strap what would your recommendations be?
-
then thats the problem.. even if you buy a swiss 7750.. you'd need to get it serviced or it might give you problem.. so imo just get the a7750.. it would be a better option for u
yup thats what i am thinking. may even send my watches to our rwg resident modders for servicing. how often should these asian movements be serviced?
-
No you would need to buy the replica, and then find a rep friendly watchsmith to service it for you. Somebody who can strip it down and do a full service....
Have a search and I am sure you will find some answers, there is a tremendous amount of info on these boards
Cheers!
thats the problem. there are no competent wacthmakers in my area and the ones that do will not touch a rep
-
Just another BIG give-away for the Safari-rep....the numbers and hands are black on it...thr real deal has got dark brown numbers and hands (beside the cream dial)...sorry.
Theo
yup that is a good angle of the gen. thanks for sharing
-
just waiting for the new daytona rep movement, when that comes out il be all over it
-
sorry for the double post.
just another observation, the number on the caseback plate: no#8250, seems that all the reps have this number. so i guess even a newb can remember this number and he would know if one is a rep by looking at the caseback number:)
-
since you already have a leather strap with your rep Safari, a conversion kit is not needed for ap bands or strapluxe straps (assuming your rep strap is the exact dimensions at the lugs as a gen strap).
if i am wrong, someone please correct me
thanks man i hope you are right:)
those black croc with red stitching from strapluxe looks awesome. i also saw an original perforated calf skin strap with blue sticthing to look very cool. anyone know who make these aero style perforated straps?
i just ordered another black themes ss from josh to complement my safari. i want to see if the steel bracelet is as good as they say it is
-
what is the possibility of this being repped? it seems a very straightforward job. cmmon guys we need one of these

wacth looks good but dead giveaway would be the strap lugs that connects to the strap/watch. i suggest getting an aftermarket strap to complement the look of the case
