DW Daytona's and the Clone V72.. Thoughts?
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to ebzen02's topic in The Rolex Area
Those had the ETA 2894-2 (chrono version of the 2892A2) with running seconds @ 3. Even if it had the same spacing, the seconds position is a deal-breaker. -
Yes, I've been seeing more than usual out in the wild (and I'm in a location where there's a large amount of them to begin with). Wear a Doxa for a few months until it blows over

The 6204 should have a 5.3mm crown AFAIK. For more information, see this post on VRF: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/message/1233081080/Here+are+the+two+pages+for+the+1973+R20+..+should+be+helpful

Rare DRSD showing up on TRF, what do you make of it?
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to P4GTR's topic in The Rolex Area
I believe it was mentioned that they had taken it to a jeweler to have a new crystal put on prior to posting pics of it. That's also why it has the wrong crystal. That's an SRSD right?...not really the same thing. -
I just got my Rolex cannon pinion and hour wheel back from being modified by The Zigmeister, so I figured I should share the results with the community. The modification increases the height so that they would be approximately as tall as the original Panerai 618 cannon pinion and hour wheel. This was needed in order to ensure that the hands could clear a NOS Panerai dial. Enjoy.

Rep Clothes Order Review (lot of pics)

Take a razor blade to this label, and you'll find a "Made in USA" label hiding inside of it (I'm not kidding): -
Anyone been ripped off by Adeoos?
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to rmcsherry's topic in The Panerai Area
It'll just get removed if you post on Paneristi. Now, if you post a thread on The BIG Watch Forum or ViaPaneristi, I think it'll stick and the right people may see it. -
I was reading about these the other day. Apparently a poorly documented promotional/prototype piece originally sold at a World Wildlife Fund event. Apparently the first Luminor to possess a Luminova dial. http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/message/1106745058/PAM+37-++some+breaking+news http://www.network54.com/Forum/638808/message/1243879111/Pam+37+-+5+important+points http://www.network54.com/Forum/638808/message/1243942811/Hi+Asi!+I+agree+with+you,+this+watch+is+very+interesting!+Seems... http://www.network54.com/Forum/638808/message/1244006545/Here+are+some+pics+of+the+promotional+brochure http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/message/1236872978/The+37+is+the+1st+%26quot;+gohst+%26quot;+and+a+%26quot;+prototype+%26quot;+in+the+same+time

22mm Pre-A Sewned in Buckles Available now
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to Rolexfinder's topic in The Panerai Area
Interesting. I might be in for 1-2. Is it possible to get them without the Panerai text? -
I wouldn't say "much" better. The quartz has a better looking bezel too.

Vintage experts needed, please

Probably a DSN Fiddy case. The case-back, CG, and plexi all look like DSN parts to me. -
Mare Nostrum v1 - pic review
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to PatronSaintofChainsaws's topic in The Panerai Area
I thought the same about the hands...ugly blue paint, but they got the shape close enough, so it should be fixable with some effort. I was thinking for a vintage MS build, that perhaps they would look pretty good if stripped and cold-blued (assuming that they're steel underneath). As for the dial color, I think the lettering should probably a yellowish cream color and not the brown-gold that we have here. Check the MS related pics on WatchProSite: http://panerai.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-717/pi-3632116/ti-583566/s-0/ http://panerai.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-717/pi-3627666/ti-582876/s-0/ http://panerai.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-717/pi-3610091/ti-580616/s-0/ -
Mare Nostrum v1 - pic review

As has been said many times. For the price ($200 + shipping if you know where to look), it makes a good base for modifying. -
Mare Nostrum v1 - pic review
PatronSaintofChainsaws replied to PatronSaintofChainsaws's topic in The Panerai Area
I'll try to take one. The lume exists, but it's not particularly bright or long-lasting. -
I wont cover the major, well known flaws of this piece here. Here are the facts: Stainless steel case, 52mm diameter, 57mm with crown, 64.6mm lug-to-lug, 14mm high 26mm lug width Lug bars with screws on both sides Screw-down crown SeaGull ST-1901 2-register chronograph movement Running seconds @ 9, chrono minutes @ 3, center chrono seconds Blue (painted) hands Display case-back The dial states: The case-back engraving states: The crown engraving states: One thing I noticed that I haven't seen anyone else comment on so far is the fact that the bezel is sloped, with a high center that gets shorter as it approaches the edge. I've been looking at pics of various gens, and although I can't find a shot that shows the bezel profile, I think either they must be flat, or have a more subtle slope than the rep. This may be the other "off" thing about the bezel that couldn't be discerned from the pics posted by the dealers. The dial indices appear to be engraved, then filled with lume, so it gives a pseudo-sandwich dial appearance. The case-back engravings are nicely done, with a decent amount of depth to them. The case-back itself screws on and off smoothly using just a sticky-ball. The crown engraving is done to the same standard as the case-back engravings. One thing worth noting about that is that the blue plastic that covers the crown during shipment got wedged into the engravings and took quite a bit of effort to remove. The lug bars have screw-ends on either side, and you'll definitely want to check them after receiving yours, as the screws on this example were loose. Here are the pics:

Here you go. It's neat enough, but the narrow crown neck and puffy bezel edges kill it for me. -

Don't know, but linking directly to the pic on Paneristi is probably a bad idea.
