Hi All
Thinking about going the gen movement into the 3714 route as there seems to be a couple of ways to do it now.
What I need is where you experts recommend buying the donor piece from. The newer one with the dubble AR will save me some money but I also need one with the most accurate hands as I hope to use a gen dial.
Please give me ur ideas
Cheers

Thanks mate ... they look OK and the price seems unreal ... be glad to hear what you think when it arrives

Hey all
Have just purchased this and it will arrive strapless & I need help choosing a strap. It is a bit hard without seeing the piece in reality but the lead time on straps can be quite long & I want to get a headstart.
It's the IWC Big Pilot with a working power reserve.
The case measure a full 46.5mm not including the crown or lugs.
Apparently it is 24mm lug size
All suggestions welcomed
Cheers

Me again
Can I also add I never saw the original sale add
Can I also ask if it is possible to buy a "reliable" movement for a 3714 Portuguese ? I have 3 dead ones already & shelling out $200-300 for a reliable watch I would consider
Thanks

Hi All
Except for a mod who gave the "supposed ripping off member" an endorsement as a "good guy", all other posts avoid the issue.
I would like to think that Verbal would give his thoughts on why Nehander thinks he is a [censored] and what the causes/remedies of this dispute are.
These watches do seem to be highly problematic so it is a case of buyer beware. Like the OP though (as a new member) I also hoped that the majority of members would have integrity

ps .... is it the same as this Lanakai review ? http://www.rwg.cc/members/IWC-Portofino-Ch...-Cr-t70649.html

Thanks B for the reply (by the way I loved ur Porto review)
Can I ask a cupple more Q's ?
1: How does it compare sizewise with say the Spitfire Chrono that I just got from here http://www.rwg.cc/members/Sold-IWC-3717-02...html&hl=iwc
2: Does this rep have any major flaws ? ie the issues that scare me from the Guese ( I already own 2 duds ?
I am becoming a huge fan of IWC
Cheers

Now ... time for serious stuff
Can I ask a few Q's ???
1: What is the exact model ? I cant find anything close to ur piccies
2: Is it as purchased or modded ?
3: Can I ask where I could get one
4: Is that double AR ?
It is a beautiful looking watch - I am a huge lover of the Portuguese but your pics have alerted me to the elegance of this watch now as well. Does it have any rep flaws that could be a concern ?
You are a lucky guy

Sell it to me immediately

Hi Peeps
I am not attempting to be provocative here but I am curious why most of the interest & popularity (both here & RG) seems to be focused on Pam's & Rollies. I admit my tenure here is short but they both appear to be the most popular reps & this surprises me.
Much as I admire the history, design & style of Rolex I would never never ever buy one either rep or gen. There are plenty I have fallen in love with over the years but I have one major issue with em. Every time I see a Rolly I suspect it's a rep. Ask anyone who has been to SE Asia & they have all been offered a Rolex. Even if I owned a gen most ppl here in OZ would assume it was a *copy* --- I know I do.
Pams are different - they are large, plain & utalitarian. I have owned a cupple of reps but I tired of them fast. They have their own style & some models are pretty cool but most are dull as dishwater.
Tags fit in the same category as Rolex - I assume most are reps when I see em on a wrist.
As I stated ... I ain't trolling here I am genuinely curious ... look 4wd to your comments

Hmmm ... great post
I am the new owner of dluddys white faced IWC Spitfire (and I bought the blk dial as well) & initially I thought I may go the black road at first. Had it on my wrist a cupple of days now & will stay with the white-face for a while at least.
I *think* I used to like darkies (with PP's Corums FM)) etc but I fell in love with the IWC Porto's and now find the *subtle-ness* of whiteys more endearing. Sure the contrast can be an issue but as some of the brilliant examples shown above illustrate this can be minor

Excellent news Sir .... I just had a strap replaced and still find the clasp digs in
I found a watchmaker who made a tool to open the strap so will chase down an alternative strap. 22mm is correct size yes ?
Thanks for posting

What is the point of Trader Stats if they are optional ?

Hi
I have only been here a few months and have bought 4 watches. I will consider selling 2 of them to finance a gen movement install I am in the process of organising.
I have seen lots of sale posts where peeps point to their trading stats as a sign of their trustworthiness. This is a big factor on the Bay. I personally think this is a good idea as it imparts another degree of "trust" to transactions in what is essentially a 'semi-legal' hobby.
If I have had a positive or otherwise experience here then I fell obliged to leave feedback & have done so. I have pm a member here to leave feedback for a piece I purchased (I left positive feedback for them) yet cannot get them to respond to the pm's for reciprocation.
This supposed trust works both ways --- some members will only buy from those with good stats and some will give sale preference to those with good buying history. I would like to think that buyers & sellers would (for their mutual benefit) take more interest in this 'feedback' option.
I want to be seen as a good buyer/seller here but think there should be more reliance on those involved in transactions to be compelled to leave feedback on their experiences.
Is this too idealistic ?
