  1. I have found a used 903 ST on another site, hopefully a gen, but you never know. It is always a bit difficult to verify from a website, and I know the old phrase "buy the seller" is always ringing in my mind. The seller seems genuine, but he is not the original owner, so it is always possible that he has been duped. Anyway the question really is, has anyone seen any fake 903's around and if so are there any really obvious telltale signs to watch out for. Many thanks in advance.
  2. And not a great one at that. Even to my non-expert eye, there are more than a few things that don't look right. I have the gen Sub on my wrist and a quick comparison reveals several shows straight away. I stand to be corrected though!
  3. This was my first entrance into the world of reps, so i really didnt know what to expect. I have read many good and bad things, so when I ordered my first one I reserved judgement until it arrived. It has now arrived, and I am very pleased, but remain cautious to see how it stands the test of time. Any way here it is. Overall I really like the watch, and having seen one in an AD first I had an idea of what it should be like. I have to say as a copy, it seems to me to be extremely good in appearance. There are a couple of small tells, but nothing that really screams. The missing "dot" between 500 and 400 is the most obvious to someone looking. The dial is very good with good AR coating, as seen here. Overall I cant find any real howlers here either. The dial spacing seems about right. The spacing between the writing isnt quite right, with the Omega being a little too close to the "speedmaster", but again you have to look very close to spot that, and you need a gen next to it. The watch has the A7750, which so far is keeping good time, at about +5s a day. Pushers and chrono work as expected. Everything centres on reset, and the sweeping second is generally smooth. The second hand timer can be a little jerky, but I think that is a feature sometimes with the 7750. On the wrist the watch is very comfortable with the bracelet being excellent. A little blingy for my taste so I fitted a NATO, which I really like. Very comfortable and hides the one thing I dont like - more in a second! So when I turn the watch over, all looks fine, with the Seahorse and correct engraving etc. It actually looks pretty good as well. Not comparing this directly, but only from memory to the gen, I cant really comment on the accuracy, but it looks good. Here it is then - the only real fault. It is barely noticeable on the pic, but the caseback is chrome plated, and it has a little, tiny chip on it. It is actually on the left hand side as seen in the picture. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying, as everything else is done so well. I will just buy a gen case back from somewhere and hopefully problem solved. Does anyone know if it will fit ok? So there is is my short review, with gratuitous pics. Overall a very nice watch, and time will tell on the rest. Has this bug bitten me and will I be buying more? Almost certainly. The process was very easy through Precious Time, with great communication and a prompt service. I will be buying there again soon. Now I need to start hunting for a few mods for this one - starting with a caseback!
  4. Thanks for the replies. I guess sending customs a receipt is definitely a bad idea in this case, and I should let this watch go, and hope mark can sort it out.
  5. I bought from Timesshops (watchmark), as all the feedback was good. I think he wrote "gift" on the package, but no value or description so they opened it. The Post Office sent me a nice letter asking for more details and a value, as the info they received was not sufficient, ie some in chinese, and the word "gift" which in Danish means married, so no surprise at the confusion!
  6. My first order and it is stuck at the post office waiting for an receipt so I can pay customs duty. As there was nothing on the packaging, they opened it, and now want me to provide some evidence of how much I paid so I can pay the duty to the PO. Do I get the receipt for 150 dollars and send them that, expecting them to probably put 2 and 2 together and come back to me with more questions, or do I cut my losses and give it up as lost? Any one dealt with this before and have any good suggestions? I think I will order from the EU in future though.
  7. Probably a very basic question but I have been searching around and cant quite find what I am looking for. What are the options with a Speedmaster date for new or better movements if the 7750 packs up, or i just want an upgrade. Will for example the original gen movement fit in there or a swiss 7750? I think I read that it is probably pretty difficult to get a swiss 7750 in, but is it a complete non-starter? Thanks
  8. I paid for a watch recently with Paypal and about an hour later received a phone call from them asking me to confirm I had made the transaction. I have never had this before, and was a bit curious. I gave no other account details, so was wondering is this them being very security cautious or something else?
  9. Of course. Thanks. I am learning at a rate of knots from this site. Amazing. Maybe I will take another look at it.
  10. Thanks. It is so damned difficult to tell, especially from a pic!
  11. I am looking for a gen Speedy, and saw this on another site, and it looks fishy to me. From what I can tell the markers at 3 and 9 are not rght. Can someone please clear this one up. Thanks. http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.ph...865#post1568865
  12. Ok so I think I have decided to pull the trigger and narrowed down my list for my first purchase to either a GMT II or Expl II. I have read many of the reviews on here, but want to hear from anyone who has maybe both. I want the most reliable, so am looking at the Swiss ETA versions at EuroTimez. These two are front running at the moment, but a Lemania Speedy or Navi is also still tempting, with a Breitling Superocean Steelfish as the outsider. The latter wins point however, for maybe being simpler than the others, therefore in my brain likely to be more reliable. So views, opinions, and suggestions? I have e-mailed Chris and PT but not heard anything back yet unfortunately, so as soon as I do I will pull the trigger. I guess the most important requirement is for reliability, then accuracy of the copy, as I would be really happy with any of these watches. Thanks for reading.
  13. Thanks Toad. Yeah I read your review of the Spitfire and that almost had me reaching for my credit card there and then! Great watch and probably my favourite all time watch. Where did you get yours from? Great review by the way.
  14. Hello to all, and thank you for all the useful info contained in this incredible site. I am new to this game, but as an owner of several high end gen watches, not completely new to watches. I have now decided that the money I spent in past years was maybe well spent (especially my Rolex Sub), but now there are better ways of spending that money - or at least that is what my wife says - so to continue my love of watches I am interested in replicas. the watches are purely and entirely for my own enjoyment, and I have no desire in trying to impress others with them or pass them off as gen. However I do like them to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible and reliable, and sometimes this allows for variation from the original. So I found this site somehow, and was amazed at the info here, and the depth of knowledge and ability to source materials, so I am going to give it a go, and try and provide some input as I go. Now I am faced with the predictable dilemma of so many fine watches out there, and where to start! I have a natural persuasion to all things Rolex, and my gen Sub is my favourite watch, but I do not feel the need to buy another sub. The Explorer 2 is a great watch and the reviews by By-Tor are excellent and are convincing me I need one sooner or later. I have always lusted after an Omega speedy as well, and there seem to be many great examples around, with the day/date being the best. Then I come to the Breitlings. Where to start? I am a professional pilot in my day job, so have always been drawn to Breitlings but am not a fan of their marketing. Pretty much all look good to me, however I am not into the uber-bling look, so I have ruled out Bentley, Navi and anything gold. Avengers and superoceans definitely are on the wish list. Then finally the IWC Pilot range - especially 3717 in white. I suspect I will get all eventually, the problem is just where to start! I have found a couple of dealers through this forum who seem to have good reviews - namely EuroTimez and Markwatch (timesshop) who seem to have everything I want, so it is decision time. I have read many reviews on here already which makes my decisions both easier and more difficult if that is possible! So that is me. I look forward to interacting with you all more, and if any of you have any red hot tips that you think fit the bill, then let me know.
