  1. Happy Birthday Deadlast01!

  2. Well, I'm new to this, too. I spent hours reading about various HBB reps and other types on this forum. I ultimately settled on Angus' (puretime) ultimate HBB Black Magic - full ceramic. This was a couple weeks before Chinese New Year (is it over yet? ), and his communication was non-existent. It took almost a month to get the watch, and it wasn't cheap, as far as reps go. The watch WAS perfect. I say "WAS" because a painter who was doing work in my house STOLE the watch from my bedroom! I went on a trip to Aspen, CO a week ago, and I saw the gen HBB Black Magic in one of the uber-sexy watch shops, and it was identical, with the exception of the date wheel. My date wheel was white on black, and the gen was black on white. Another member here told me that the white on black date wheel can also be ordered on the gen. I'm debating whether to replace my stolen watch with another Angus HBB or try something else. After comparing the gen to the Angus HBB, I seriously cannot image ever buying the gen HBB because it is so beautifully replicated. Can you imagine how [censored] I'd be if my GEN HBB were stolen? I can't even think about it.
  3. This is the worst thread ever . . .
  4. I purchased an ultimate full ceramic HBB Black Magic from Angus a few weeks back. It keeps exceptional time, and the chrono is perfect as well. I wasn't thrilled with Angus' communication or customer service, but I'd have to say, based on product alone, I'd buy again. The only difference in appearance is (a) no checkerboard face and ( the date is white on black. I think both variations are available as a gen. Very happy with the watch, and it does get noticed.
  5. This story appeared in today's Florida Times Union. Thought I'd share: http://tinyurl.com/dhstw5
  6. Well, I'm new to reps, but I've done everything requested of me on this forum. I've not "asked" what to get, but rather, I've read tons of posts on various models. Well, I just kept coming back to the full ceramic HBB Black Magic. I should get the watch in a week. Yes, in a way, it's a cop out because it's so damn expensive - $788 delivered from puretime. At the end of the day, I was concerned I would regret not just getting the ceramic case since the difference in price isn't a consideration for me. Hopefully, the ceramic case will hold up better to scratches over time. I do want to thank all of you who contribute your thoughts and experiences with reps. Your insight helped me come to a decision. I will happily report the durability of the ceramic case, as it will be on my wrist every day. Cheers.
  7. An honest answer! To me, life is about getting the biggest bang for my buck. It's my hobby. Whether it's watches, jeans or cars. I analyze, compare and make the call. I take weeks to make decision to purchase just about anything because that's the fun of it. Buying a "fake" wasn't of interest to me until I understood that the spectrum is so wide. It actually makes replicas more interesting that the real ones. I would never be embarrassed to admit that my watch is a replica because there's a story behind it. By the time I'm done with explaining the skill it takes (which I don't have yet) to identify an ultimate rep, my listener would understand that any wristwatch aficionado appreciates a good fake. My humble mother-in-law is a self taught chef living in Manhattan. She can recreate ANY dish in any restaurant in the city by reverse engineering it. Then she improves it. She is also paralyzed on the left side of her body from a stroke 8 years ago. Master Chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Daniel Boulud both appreciate her ability to mimic their signature cuisine and take no offense when she suggests a modification. As a foodie, nobody impresses me like she does. I would think that engineers working for Rolex, Hublot and Panerai are secretly impressed by anyone who reverse engineers their timepieces. There may even be one or two of them on this forum. They certainly buy and dissect replicas to stay one step ahead.
  8. I've been accused on another thread of being a spammer or shilling this brand of "cheap watch." I don't sell watches, and only have an interest in buying watches. A site by the name of ProfessionalWatches.com did a review of this watch, which currently sells at the Wynn in Las Vegas. I assume from the lack of response that no one at RWG has any information about it. So, I'll move on to another, less interesting topic.
  9. I'm not a spammer. I practice law in Jacksonville, Florida. I first saw N.O.A at Breckenridge Jewelers while on a snowboarding trip last week. The N.O.A display case was right next to the Panerai display case. I'm torn between buying a high end replica (which is something I've only recently considered) or a genuine N.O.A. I'm not sure why the site is a "cheap site," and it may very well be. That's why I joined this forum. Thanks.
  10. Does anyone have any experience with N.O.A Watches? They look very cool, and as a relative newcomer to the high-end wristwatch scene, they might hold exceptional value/ investment potential. I have searched the site, and have been goose-egged. Since the brand has been around for 6-7 years, I'm a little surprised that it hasn't been discussed here. I am not an expert watch collector, so I defer to the experts here. Thanks.
  11. I happened upon this forum while researching a watch manufacturer "None of the Above" or N.O.A. Surprisingly, I have found no RWG posts on N.O.A watches. Maybe it's because I must post an introductory thread in order to search the forums? Anyway, like many who consider replica watches over the genuine article, I struggle with the vanity and irony of it all. Oh, I like watches, and I like to draw attention to myself. I won't wear a "traditional" watch design because, well, it's not me. However, what does it say about me that I would wear a fake to convince others I'm a "player"? That's why I'm intrigued by the N.O.A line. They're different, and they're relatively inexpensive when compared to heavyweights like Panerai, Hublot, etc. They might offer a good investment opportunity, but at the end of the day, I'm a neophyte collector. I'm curious. Do replica collectors tell people who ask that their watch is a replica, or are they content to lie in an effort to create a false impression? Isn't a fake watch sort of like fake [censored]? Then again, isn't a genuine watch sort of like fake [censored]? They're all an artificial enhancement of one's looks. Don't get me wrong. I'm NOT above buying a replica. Too many way cool watches are above my pay grade. I'm just wondering the philosophy among those that buy and wear replicas. Probably, the best and most honest response would be, "This is the best [insert name] replica in the world, and it's a lot harder to find than the real thing. Anybody with a trunk full of cash can buy from an authorized dealer. This watch is the culmination of hours of research and sophisticated forgery." BTW, feel free to use that. Thanks for the anticipated expert advice.
