  1. Gents, Its been several years since I've built a "franken" and I've forgotten most of the do's and dont's. In a nutshell, would the "guts" (dial, movement and hands) from a Trusty vintage 1665 drop into an MBW 1665 case? The case is from George and it's in impectable condition. Any thoughts or suggestions? Last franken I built was back in the days of that a@@hole Flip-Lock-Buckle running a muck here...
  2. Wow...I can't believe Chris is getting bad reviews from customers. Who, from our truster list is now handling MBW's...I'm getting the itch for a new toy (great white sea-dweller)...It's been a while!
  3. Does anyone make replicas of high-end straps? I really like the Hirsch Leonardo...the one with the nice snug curved ends that fits sooooo nicely between the lugs.
  4. If I opened up that watch without my glasses and lope I'd have to say the case clamps are the first dead giveaway.
  5. :whistling:font="Verdana"]Ofrei is OK but chances are you will probably deal with "Bob" I had an issue with him several years ago. I had to practicaly beg him to fill an order and ship it out...too weird. If you call and he answers hang up and call back until one of his minions pi[cks up.
  6. Take off the band when you do work like this...it makes it much easier. Other than that I think that's the BEST post I've seen here in years!! Lots of jaw-dropping going on this week-end!!
  7. Looks great! Is the Corvus strap really better than the "19.99" ones on ebay?
  8. Great question... I've got an MBW 1680, in parts, in a box. I completely destroyed the case several years ago before I "honed" my modding skills. I'd love to get my hands on just a "case".
  9. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking... Are you looking for a gen bezel for a rep? If that's the case than I believe there will be fit issues...espacially on a dj.

    DSSD bph?

I love Rolex divers watches...especially the older ones. As a divers tool? Not really... I've been wreck diving for over 15 years and believe me, you will N E V E R see a Rolex on a serious diver. First of all, you will never get a Rolex to fit over the cuff of your dry suit and 6mil glove...diver extension and all. Years ago before dive computers Subs and SD (Tudors too) would get attached to a strap conected to your BC. and were used as bottom timers. The only time I ever wore my sub while diving was in the tropics. For the price of a new SD you could buy two VR3's (primary and back-up) and a good digital bottom timer. A diver needs to know depth and time at depth. A Rolex with never give you an an algorythm (spell?) or give you a deco profile. With all that said there is still nothing cooler than a wearing a Rolex submariner or seadweller on your wrist while loading your gear onto the dive boat but as a dive tool... in reality no... I hope I didtn't burst any bubbles
  11. Yes... Nothing mechanically wrong with your watch...just a poor alignment issue
  12. MBW is the way to go! I did however swap out the DR dial and replaced it with a vintage white dial. If you deside to deal with Pam111 (Paul) you will enjoy great communication and super fast shipping but...if there is a problem you will NEVER hear from him again... beware...
  13. OK...after years of looking at Daytonas I finally pulled the trigger. I went for a 6263 because I'm partial to older vintage looking watches. I'm under the impression that the movements are "bulletproof". I got the thing from Paul and the transaction went smooth as silk. He states the movement is a Nouvelle Lemanina 1874 Copy Version. Does this mean I'm the proud owner of a "knockoff" movement Anyway... I'm gaining about a minute a day and I need to slow it down. I searched but it seems there's nothing on regulating these movements... Cheers!
  14. I've got a 6263 coming from Paul...now the waiting prosess begins. I've had nothing but great luck with Paul (QC issues and all) I've been searching and searching but can't seem to find the "how to" which illustrates how to freeze the seconds @ 6... My first Daytona...I hope the addiction doen't gets worse
  15. OK...now I'm really confused Simply put, I want to replace the crystal on my MBW DRSP (from Paso) I'm going to order a 'Vintage" SD (white) from Paul for the dial and swap out the DR dial. The original crystal has a pretty good scratch and has to go

    MBW DRSD

Hey Alligoat, I tried emailing Paul (or however Paul is now) and asked about possibly just buying the dial from him but have not gotten a responce. I figure I'll spring for the watch and have some parts (and a movement) for my parts collection. I'm not worried about the lume because that's something I can fix myself.

    MBW DRSD

Hey Gents, I'm thinking of swaping out my Double-Red SD dial for a vintage "white" version" I've been watching white vintage SD dials go on eBay and I just can't justify spending that kind of money Paul is the only dealer I could find that offers the vintage white version...Has anyone here seen this version and if so what do ya think of the dial? I've always had quick service from Paul but his QC is probably the worst... Cheers!
  18. Dive computer all the way...sometimes even two for back-up. Even with the "wet-suit" extension on the band you could never get the watch over your wrist if you are wearing a dry-suit with a 6mm glove cuff. I've been around diving for many years and have never observed a commercial diver use a Rolex while working...recreational diving in warm water is a different story. I've worn my sub diving in the Carribean many times. Funny thing though...I never use it as a timer...dive computer all the way Although years ago before computers wrist watches were your only source of time keeping under water
  19. I didn't realize that the case was so...so huge I literally stared at the pics for an hour! I just can't get past those crown guards If those CG's were a little more Sub-like...or at least what I'm used to...I would buy one tonight! IMHO
  20. I clicked on pam111.com to see what Paul was up to... his account has been "suspended" Does anyone know where he has moved to?
  21. Smoothest deal I ever made was with Paso last year for an MBW DRSD! Nice guy to deal with
  22. Now I know where Rolex got their inspiration from regarding their latest offerings
  23. One of these days one of the rep makers will produce a Tudor Chorno (Tiger I hope...) and they will fly out the door
  24. I'm a law enforcement officer...21 years now. Hey, it's not illegal to purchase or possess replica watches in my state, just can't sell em I have a few friends that are "customs" agents at a local "international" airport. If you guys saw my collection of reps you would $hit. That's all I have to say about that
