  1. Not been on here for a while but thought this might be an interesting post. 3 months ago my long term girlfriend [tracey] leaves me, and she also takes our young son [reece]. We are still friends and sometimes take our son out together [although im quietly trying to get her back lol]. The other day we are out with reece and we are talking about things and she told me that one of the reasons she went was my obsession [spelling?] with watches. She told me it was not right that i would rather look at a [nice] watch movement rather than porn lol, which is close to being true. Also i admit that once or twice [not always] i was selfish and had some spare money and a watch came before, more important things. I have not worn a watch since she left me funny enough, but yesterday was the first day i started wearing one again, and now i feel the need to buy more, Gen, Reps, i see a watch that looks interesting cheap or expensive, i need it lol. I know many a guy has lost a family for his passion, cars, bikes, drink, watches etc, but is it really worth it in the end? Aidan
  2. Wow they are some of the worst attempts I have seen. What was the point of putting rolex on the dial, I doubt it helped sales.
  3. I stopped going on tz a long time ago. It's not everyone but most of the people on there are not as smart as they think, and a lot of them think they are better than everyone, they also talk crap.
  4. IMHO the water beading test is not the greatest test. Even on gens it is not a good test.
  5. Roman abramovich used to wear a casio pro trek, and was seen with it often. Forget the model no but it was the big dark green one, I used to own the same model
  6. for some reason it looks large on my wrist in my pic. I have near 8 inch wrists, so why it looks so big in the pic I don't know. Even tho it's a small watch by todays standard I still think they look good, I guess the small size makes them not as in demand as they should be.
  7. Datejusts are so classy. They can be worn by all, and look great, in suit or jeans. Loads of dial options, which is good for the rep and gen buyer. I have one and it's my only rep, would love to own a gen and I'm thinking of getting one but a good quality rep is very close to a gen, and frankens might as well be gen. It's also the only one of my watches to be commented on by women my gf likes it on me, a few lasses at work said how nice it was and a freinds gf was admiring it the other day, guess it's the salmon and fake diamond dial, told the lasses at work it was gen they thought I was well flash lol, even tho if it was gen it would not be my most expensive watch. I bought it on the bay, and it has a 2846 movement and I love the datewheel, it's got patina but I like it, I wear it most days and it passed a 50m water test. I have posted some pics before but will post another
  8. Just been doing some searching on the site, and looking at old posts etc. I came across watches that had monarch polfy sa backs, with the funny spelling on you know the ones. In some of the posts people said those watches are collectable, is that true and why?, I never found anything that helps. My datejust is one of those ones, so please tell me more.
  9. Thanks that's what I was looking.
  10. Ok so I want to fit a different dial to my dj see my last post for pics. But I'm not sure on my options, I would like to fit a gen dial (new or used), but what would I have to do to fit it to a eta 2846, as I have heard gen dials are slightly smaller. Or is it best I find another rep with a decent dial, but one made for another movement?.
  11. Got this from a certain well know auction site. Its been well used but still in not bad condition [i like some wear]. Let me know what you think. Pics are not great but tried my best with a cheap digi in bad light. The bad I don't like the dial so i will replace it, has a small blemish on. Hands are a little short. Mag not quite right. Case could do with being re polished and brushed. The good Feels nice quality, everything feels solid and works very well. Gen eta 2846, keeps great time within a few secs in 24 hours.
  12. Wow thank you for the replys. Very interesting, ok so a dj without lug holes should have a fast beat movement, just on a rep I have (will post pics tomorrow) has no lug holes but has a slow beat eta (gen) 2846.
  13. Did a search did not find quite what I wanted so. On datejust what years did they have lug holes, or what years would they be solid?. Up to when would a slow beat movement be used on a dj?. I don't know so much about rolexs so please forgive me lack of knowledge. Just want to build a better rep from one I already have.
  14. Hi been Reading the site for a few days before posting my intro. Been into watches for a while got started when my granddad left me his collection. Although I have had some gen watches mostly omega, I have never had loads of cash to spend, and always liked modded watches so reps have there place. I dislike the snobby attitude of people who think all reps and frankens are c!!p. So it's nice to see a board where people are more open minded and not so uptight. Aidan
