  1. thx Fireman_Fred

i was simply giving my advice, like i mentioned in my first post, the PO that was reffered to is a 4th gen

and i know that the UPO is 45.5mm, thats why i said i'd prefer buying it

Wll, the PO 42mm in the photo looks like mine and it is great! No complaints whatsoever. Had my watchmaker resize it though, since I read it can be tricky. Hefty, keeps great time! Has the typical non UPO markings...HE valve at 1o, bracelet has the Professional word enscribed on the clasp, hands not longer...but sapphire and seems double AR coated. For that price, I would buy it!

  2. After messing about for over a week trying to regulate my 42mm Chinese movement PO, I've got it to -2sec per 24H.

Kept being -/+10 after first few tries, requires very small adjustment to get it just right.

Congrats on your regulating the 42mm! That is quite phenomenol!! for a regular 21j Chinese movement! Don't know exactly what movements are in my two 42s but they are accurate enough for me not to worry about them. The black bezel version seems to have a longer reserve time than the orange, though I have never tested either more 'scientificallly'.

  3. Hi everyone,

I bought a UPO from Eurotimez (good service, btw) around Christmas. - Specifically ordered a Swiss movement.

At first I didn't notice it much, but now it seems to lose about 5-10 seconds per day. Is this normal, and what could be causing it? I've heard of watches gaining time, but then at least I wouldn't have to worry about missing the bus :)

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Best Regards,

    Vlad

Since the UPO is automatic and not quartz, 5-10 seconds a day is quite respectable IMO. The watch can be regulated if you so choose (usually there is a regulating lever inside with a +/- .......) but your UPO seems to be normal, ETA or Chinese better quality movements included. Seiko autos, for instance, are considered good within 12 seconds loss/plus in 24 hours.

  4. Change the watch to a Super Avenger or a Big Bang King, lower the DBS, paint it black and put matte balck powdercoat 24's on it. Then you will have a montage which will appear to a much more youthful market. The next James Bond movie will probably feature a 22 year old Bond next anyway so we may as well be ready. :D

haha! so true...ever since Connery left, it hasn't been the same....but I still love the movies! ...or a black James Bond! hahaha! a Rastafarian Bond? no? haha! Daniel Craig does a good job IMO....

  5. since i started the Narikaa PO thread, let me share with you why i did...

this is a damn nice watch - nice quality, look, feel...and at $95usd, it's a steal...yes - it's not accurate...but let me say...it has a nice dial, decent single AR, nice engraving, nice bracelet, etc, etc...whether or not the hands are a freaking millimeter off is not the point of why people like this rep...it's a great watch with nice detail AT A GREAT PRICE...and it's 42mm...

there's a lot of good quality in this great VALUE rep...

    R-

Agree with on your points, R, and I for one am happy with both 42s, black and orange bezel versions.... :D :D

  6. Thanks for the sound advice. I thought the UPO was just a larger (45mm) version of the PO but obviously not. It's early days and I'm on a very steep learning curve.

Hi Dennis! As you are finding out, the $100 rep PO is basically inferior now. My suggestion is to contact our man in HKong and give him your requirements. I think you would be paying around $195.00 for a UPO type, since his last info to me. Still, he is close to the source and can pretty well verify its quality for you. The only question is ...do you want to spend around $200 or more for a rep???

Robbie G has good advice!...in other words, if you really are committed, buy the higher quality item....

  7. OK let me get a little serious here. You pikers who are always complaining about the quality of reps vs. cost should make posters of this at life size and mount them over your beds. How far this industry has come in such a short time is staggering. Not so long ago EVERY Rolex rep used to look like this.

So the next time you pay (only) $400 for a nearly world class watch, instead of complaining look at this picture and think of the thousands of people who paid top dollar for one of these and were happy to have it. Simply put, the quality to cost ratio of our best reps these days is such that flaws and/or defects render nearly every discussion moot. But then we wouldn't have anything to talk about so I suppose we can let that slide.

The moral of the story is everyone needs to appreciate what we have - especially the noobs since they probably don't really know where we came from.

Rather agree with your sentiment, robbieG. The rep world is still underground, so to speak, but the quality of Chinese reps is getting so good...to wit my latest 42mm POs with what I think are DG4813 chinese movements. Naturally the Asian industry is good at copying western style watches...but mark my words, in the near future, they will start to design their own with quality movements installed.

Yes, there is huge probem for OEM watch companies trying to protect their copyright laws from reps from China....but that will level out in the future.

Take Japan for instance. Since this country opened up to the west in 1860, the start of the Meiji era, Japan then took what it considered good from the western countries and copied them and integrated these items into its own culture i.e. wall clocks, clothes, railway systems...and the list goes on.....

    You catch my drift?

  8. I was in two minds about pulling the trigger on this watch, but you have just conviced me. Good work Tmeister...

I think i might try it on a 20mm Maratac Elite strap with either black or white stiching.

It has been over six months since my last purchase so I can't wait to get hands on this.

thanks....I haven't tried the Elites but only use the Milspecs. Seen the Elites and they look good.

As for the 42mm POs, please do your reading about them and the 4 generations, so you know what you are getting in advance.

Just happens my friend bought the really good ones in China whilst there on business. Mine has AR, sapphire crystal, and I believe the ETA clone or DG4813 movement I am led to believe. The black version seems to have more AR blue coating than the orange bezel one, which run a bit slower...could use slight adjustment as it runs 60 seconds slower in 9 hours or so...(no real big deal to me).

The bracelet will stay on the black model. I just installed the orange strap which I had originally ordered with the orange version and kinda like it now...no so loud as when I first wore it hahaha! Fresh photos today of it..

In this photo, the strap is orange but the camera metered the caseback only...

  9. Recently read about the UPO an Tor's reviews on the 42mm...

Not sure where, but I read one of these has the DG4813 movement. Can anyone verify this for me? Is it a highbeat as well 28,8000bph???

Both my POs run really nicely and accurate. Googled this movement and the 4813 seems to be in demand for its quality over the higher price ETA....

    thanks for any replies!

  10. May I ask what kind of repairs are being done to your ss bracelet. I just totaly screwd mine up trying to resize. Removed the link from the lug not the clasp. :fool: Far as the spring pins go, you might want to try E bay or Amazon. Google search Omega SM po ? 20mm spring bars. Good luck :) Mike

Mike, it must have been a link pin broken, said my friend who sourced the watch in China. He returned it to the factory and got it fixed and sent it back to me. When my watchmaker removed 2 links for me, he used the proper tool for such jobs using this pin system. Tis a small vice like tool with removable diameter heads....he had to use a tiny one, inserted it and slowly screwed it into the link pin hole, pushing out retaining pin in the link. This tool avoids slippage by hand pushing a pin etc into the link pin hole.....

  11. @tmeister: Thank you very much for your help. Now I know (I think I know) how to do the dirty job when my watch arrives. If I do it quickly, I can take it for a walk that same day... :D

The NATO strap looks amazing with the orange bezel PO. Good choice! I think I will have to get my orange version too, because most of you have both of them and a great advantage when maching your watch and your clothes. ;-) Now I understand why women have so many ear rings, shoes,... to match each situation and dress... :D

    See you,

    Relox,

Depending if your POs come installed with either Bracelet or other, take care in removing the bracelet. There is a small cutout for depressing the springbar but a small bladed tip will likely not fit into the slot to press the springbar down. Watchmakers usually have the right tool for this - or you can invest in buying a good quality one - so you have the 2 choices, do it yourself or take it in and have it done by a trusted watchmaker. A springbar tool usually has 2 sized ends or even some come with removal ends for other widths. Sometimes I try a pithing pin I kept from high school days Science! hahaha!

  12. I hope anyone can give us a piece of advice on how to do such a thing without *hurting* our dear POs. A video would be worth of our applause.

    relox

Relox, well, I have changed many of my springbars on the Seikos and other and most were easy. I had a cheap Chinese made springbar depresser thing but it was useless. One day I observed my old watchmaker and he used a small pocket pen knife blade!!! So that is what I use now! haha!

As for installing the bracelet, I used the same but had to first: fit the bottom springbar into its hole in the lug, carefully at the same time as holding the end link into position square on between the lug because there is no loose tolerance otherwise. Then the top springbar tip is depressed with the small thin blade and carefully not to scratch the lug side.....after 10 mins of trying to hold the end link flush into the space with the left fingers, the small knife blade presses down the springbar tip until it slides under the top lug, simultaneously with the left fingers applying pressure sidewards so that the springbar top will catch into the top lug hole! hahaha!
