Welcome Mixtimp. Its always nice to see other noobs like me getting over enthusiastic with their first purchases. I'm waiting for my first reps too. I ordered a Patek and a Breitling a couple of weeks ago. That was quite a leap you took on your first rep; $598. Its a beautiful watch and movement. My Breitling Chrono Evo cost me $308, the Patek was about $280 and I was nervous cos to me that is a lot of money for what is essentially a 'fake watch'. These watches are hit and miss. However, they are mostly hit because of the quality of the output form the apparently identical factories the dealers on RWG use. But occasionally you do get a miss. Slow down... and as for the spend on your skeletal, grind yourself to a halt. I got carried away too with the thrill of having nice pieces but 1500 sponds for a dodgy timepiece at this stage kinda makes me nervous. If you can even think about spending so freely on reps so early on and can do it, save up and buy gens in the single K range and only buy reps of watches you like that are way way beyond your budget. Just my two cents. I hope you like your tourbillon. It looks like a cracking rep. A real head turner and yes, I'm feeling slight pangs of jelousy.

Good advice. Thanks. I've ordered my first rep and I would like to wear it as my main watch, so I need it to last a long time. I'll need to have it serviced within the first few months of wrist time to ensure this. Your approach sounds like the one I had in mind myself. I have another (patek venus wind) but it'll be a sunday wearer.

I just phoned up a local jeweller about servicing my new rep watch. Of course, I knew what the answer would be, 'Not a chance'. He seemed helpful, but was somewhat apprehensive. For all he knows I could've been a Gen company man. Mmmm I wonder if the story would be different if I called in in person. Anybody had a good experience? No names or places of course...

I know the BCE's been photographed to death already, but I'll post up some pics.
-
Thanks b16. Thats great news. I'll now wear it with quiet pride.

I ordered from Joshua; jpc8118.com. I'd be really happy if I did get the v3, although I would still be happy with the v2. Ahhh! Ignorance is bliss. We always want the latest and greatest...
-
try jpc8118.com. I just ordered a BCE from him. He seems to have got good reviews. Some customers have had a few bad experiences too, but most have been ok. Read the forums a bit more. Happy hunting.

BALLS! I take it back... Im near tears now. I could've had a near perfect rep instead of a not so near perfevt
-
My BCE v2 is advertised as having an updated date wheel. Does this make it a v3?

I really like these watches. There are few and far between Ulysse Nardin mentions here. Is it because these watches are not so mainstream and are more individual that the tags/breitlings/rolex... etc. I just ordered a Patek Philippe moon phase from pt and while I have seen a couple of brief reviews here and some quality photos, I might add, theres no great in depth descriptions. I'm not moaning or want to be seen to give out as all reps can't be covered in detail, but there seems to be little discussion of these two major brands. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. If I'm missing the plot could someone point me in a stright line...

Hi all. Ive just ordered a graphite BCE v2 from one of your recommended dealers. I'm sure it'll take a few weeks to arrive so I'm waiting with gleeful anticipation. Its my first rep purchase. After ordering I realised there is a v3 out. When did this version come about? What are the differences? I've looked around and I cant seem to find a post describing these. I'v already ordered the v2 and its the watch I wanted, so I'm not bothered that theres a newer version... its my own slip up. I'm curious as to what I've missed out on. Could someone help?

Yes. All is clear now. Typo on my part regarding 7753... well spotted. I'll look through those guides in more detail Toad. Its good to hear that the movts can last up to and beyond 5 years with a service. I'll be a A7750 service fiend for a while. Maybe later when my knowledge improves I'll upgrade to the swiss. Thanks guys.
-
Thanks Toad. Thats good info.
-
Obviously the 7753 would last longer (higher quality and its more expensive). Now Im wondering if the serviced A7750 would give the same wear as the more expensive ETA, which is more expensive, why would anyone bother with the expensive one? I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot or ask awkward questions. As Im new to the rep scene I believe its a valid query. Is it a matter of personal choice, the 'must have' movement takes hold and A7750 seems to be second best?
-
I see. Then it does makes sense to prolong the life of the A7750 then. Sorry, I didnt see the answer elsewhere. I was really wondering what the life expectancy be of the serviced A7750? I'd like to ge a good few years wear out of my rep. Ive seen answers stating between 2 and 3 years. Is this correct?
-
I know the swiss ETA is reputed to be a better movement. My issue is; why service the Asia 7750 (28899bhp) and pay $200 when you can buy the ETA for the cost of the 7750 plus the service cost? You would then have a nice swiss movt. Also which would last longer?
-
AWOOoooooooooo! Get those 316 grade silver plated bullets ready... Thanks for the info.
-
I see. I didnt know there was that issue. The venus movement will be in a patek moonphase chrono Im considering buying. The moon phase is at 6 where the movement's wandering hand is. Ive never had a moon phase (surprise surprise!) and I assumed the hand would rotate from one end of the phase to the other; 180 degrees or thereabouts and back again. If I understand correctly, the movement's wandering hand at 6 would be ok in this situation. What do you think By as you know the movement? Regardless, I really like this watch and its one that would only come out on special occasions. I think its a must have.
-
Thanks By! Thats good news. Id like to read The Zigmeister's review on it though... here's hoping for that post.
-
I just cant fathom it. I can feel this rep thing starting to get out of control. Ive just ordered my first; a breitling chrono evo and im sooo anxious to get me mits on it. While I'm waiting I want to order 2 more I have my eye on. And then theres the recommended reps with rave reviews. I get no work done. Im browsing all the time, looking over my shoulder expecting my boss to be standing behind me glaring. With any luck he would get hooked too... we'd share a common interest, I'd get a raise, then a promotion, take over the company, go global, then lose it all as the economy plummets. Aaaahhhhhhh!

Pam 212 1950 Flyback OR Breitling Chronomat Evolution
oirish replied to oirish's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Thanks guys. I love them both. Ive just ordered the Breitling from Joshua. Its a good all rounder. I'll leave the PAM 212 for my next fix. There's something special about PAMs. We always had the National Geographic in our house growing up and Panerai was alwas there, almost jumping off the page. A Ziggified rep of any description is a rare one these days. Good buy. Im looking into a patek phillipe moonphase too. PT has a nice one on his site. -
Greetings from Ireland. I like manual winding watches. there is something 'timeless' about them. Ive read of different versions of the venus handwind but nowhere goes into any great detail. From what I understand this movement is a rather good one with regards to price and reputation. Does anyone know where I can find more info on this mvt?
-
Hi all. Im new to this. Ive been skulking around in here for about 3 or 4 days now and Im in awe of it all. My watch of the minute has changed every minute and the more I read, the more I want to read. I'm hooked. I've decided on these two watches, the PAM 212 and the Breitling Evo. I found info on Breitlings here already, however I cant find the same amount of detailed info on Panerai. I mean as in what to look out for with regards to rep/gen comparisons. Are PAM reps easily spotted? The PAM has a 7750 Valjoux 28800 movement and from what I read here it is pretty good. The EVO is looking good too. Its got a 7750 Auto 28800 movement. Im going with the blue face because the white face is supposed to be slightly off colour on reps. Or am I off in the wrong direction altogether. Id like to wear these two and thats the reason for my choices. I believe its the best reason of all. But are there watches of similiar style and design with better renowned rep quality that Ive overlooked? Any input appreciated...
