1st off, it's been a while since I've posted on here, but it's good to be back. The are so many knowledgeable people on here. I hope this site never goes away.

This is a genuine Rolex yachtmaster I purchased in 2006. Its two tone ss w/ 18k gold, a rare black mother of pearl face and has only been worn 1 time. It's been sitting in a lock box for two years and I never wear the thing. I'm more comfortable wearing my reps that the real thing, I guess. I paid $11k for it. A consignment watch dealer online said he'd give me $10k for it, but that was sight unseen and its was a "cash 4 gold" kind of thing. You know, where he sends me a "secured" envelop and I'm supposed to send him the watch. Yeah right. .. Anyways you guys think anyone on here would buy it, or any ideas what its worth?

What is that supposed to mean? That's bit stereotypical don't you think? I could easily say the same thing about BMW drivers and their attitude all flash and no balls. BMW drivers speed through traffic cutting people off left and right but when you catch up to them, they won't even have the nads to look at you in your face.

This story prooves my point, although the MB driver was rude and called him out on his watch he had the balls to do it in his face. So what does this BMW guy do? Suck it up and then like a putz call him out in this forum after the fact. For that I have no sympathy, if somebody comes up to your face and talks sh*t be a man and say something there not after the fact behind the safety of a computer screen. Virgil's story is more commendable, he didn't have to stoop to that's guy's level at the Watch Tower Place but he met the challenge head on and didn't whine about it afterwards.

Replica as in, not an M3? It's a real bimmer, but no not an M3. M3's are a bit wider in the rear than the standard coupes, plus it doesn't have the kidneys on the sides and the mirros are e36 M3 style. But I don't think he was trying to make it look like an M3 anyways. It looks clean the way it is, I like it.

Damn thats a sick front end. I know a lot of people just go with an M3 bumper, but thats a nice change of pace. Are those 18's or 19's?

OMG I read the article about the monitor that turned out to be a brick taped to wood. That's crazy. I'm opening every box I buy from now on before I leave the store.

So I went to besy buy to get a digital camera today. Went to one store the guy was very helpful, demoed all the models in my price range, even used my watch to show the close up pics. Damn that really sold me. The detail was amazing on this one sony. But it was sold out. So he checks in the computer, sees the other store has three in stock and I can get one there. Can you hold one for me?, I said. No, but they have three I doubt they'll all sell out tonight. Store closes at 9pm, its about 8:40 and its a 20 minute drive to the other store. So I haul ass over there and make it with about 5 mins to spare. I tell the salesman at the new best buy that I was sent here from the other store for this particular camera, should be 3 in stock. He looks and its sold out. The guy at the other store said you had them in stock. Well the computers must be slow. Check back next week.

So I was at this performance shop in town ordering an aftermarket M3 bumper for my lil 3 series. Rep watches and a rep car. I can't stop the addiction. Anyways as I'm talking to the salesman, I see this guy pull up in a ML430 suv whatever the sports version of the benz suv is, new body style. He comes in acts like he owns the place, then comes and stands next to me, leans over, stars at my watch for a sec and says, "nice watch, swiss made?" Huh? "Is that a swiss made rep." My first reaction was what an [censored], then I said yeah, how can you tell its a rep? I was wearing a 168 regatta, the 2003 blue face chrono asian 7750. I was thinking he was going to bring up that its ss and not titanium like the gen. He says the luminor is pointing the wrong way? WTF? What are you talking about . He says the luminor was crooked on it. We went back and forth about wheather my luminor lettering was crooked or not, pretty childish actually. Then I take a quick glimpse at his time peice. A fugly ass LV sub with a yellow pearl, horrible bezel, crown sticking about an inch and no dial depth what so ever. But hey it was sweeping, good for him. You know what I said? "Nice Rolex." I asked him how much he paid for it, he said "$600. Its a rep too, swiss made." I was going to try to explain to him about how he got ripped off but I didn't want to call him out. Then he starts going on and on about how he can afford whatever watch he wants, but doesn't see the point in spending the money. After talking to him about reps for a couple minutes I was thinking about going into detail about spending $600 for a so called "swiss made" rep, but I didn't want to waste my time on him. Mourning, Walker, White Chocolate, Payton, all have been selected 1st team all stars throughout their careers. Excluding Dirk and Stackhouse the Mavs are a very young team. Throw in a coach with very little experience and you've got yourself an upset in the making. Heat all the way!!!!

That is exactly what I have in mind to modify the 165 SS case to Titanium. One point I notice is 165 automatic case is thicker than the manual movement case. So, first step is to find correct thickness Titanium case.

Anyone know which one is?

Strangely Andrew has the 165 listed as 12mm thick while the titanium unitas and lemania 44mm pams are listed as 12.5mm. The case for the 177 looks the same as the 165. After talking to Jos he says he can build a custom 165 using the 177, however the bezel and crown guard will also be titanium. Anyways I've already got a 165 so its too late and too pricey to go that route. If you haven't ordered a 165 I'd talk to Jos about the custom one. Its alot easier to switch the bezel and crown guard then to switch the case.

I've gotten the same idea of buidling a correct 165. Please note that the correct dial version just comes with that cheap 21j. mvt. The dial fits the asian and also the swiss 7550. Swapp it and throw the asian mvt. away. But the feet of the dial have to be cut off (wrong position).

By the moment I am trying to build an accurate Arktos. Same problem: Best case and dial version come with the cheap 21j. watches. My problem is that I don't know how to fix the bigger 7750. Maybe the height of the mvt. will be a problem, too. I'll try to find out but maybe somebody can help?

Actually shutlz the correct dial is on the 7750. On the 21j the "l swiss made l" is under the six. This would be correct if this were the previous version ( Pam 91 ) but the " l swiss made l " was moved outside of the 6 for the 165.

So I purchased a Pam 165 that comes with a polished SS case, bezel and crown guard. However the genuine has a brused titanium case. Would it be possible to swap the case from another 44mm Pam and still use the polished SS bezel and crown guard form the watch I purchased? I orignally put this in the other Q&A forum but I see that this deals with mods. Sorry , as you can see under my name, I'm still "getting to know the place."
