  1. Stunning! Really shows the detail of the dial well. What are you shooting with?
  2. Great story! Nice gift for the missus.Definitely a model that does not get much attention around here. I have gotten 2 for my wife over the years and she loves them both.
  3. Not bad at all. Although I like the Marathon attached to that zulu much better.
  4. Yup. You pushed it too far and now the keyless works is out of whack. Easy to reset for someone experienced. Your local guy should have no problem.
  5. Looks great. I got two like this for my wife and she loves them. Nice choice!
  6. Very nice comparison pictures. Thanks for putting it all together. However I would caution anyone using visual confirmation to determine parts compatability. As mentioned above while parts may appear to be the same they often are not when you attempt to fit them up. I ran into this when replacing the center wheel on a clone 6497-2. Ordered and ETA part and it would not fit, the pinion was too large for the jewel. Even measured with my calipers and they came out the same but for whatever reason it was a no go. I ended up polishing the pinion and was able to get it to fit. So as mentioned the details and finish can make all the difference in the world.
  7. Very cool indeed. I wonder if we will ever see this repped.
  8. Cool stuff and cool wife. Looks like lots of fun to play around with....I am talking about the studio of course
  9. You guys are killing me! Love them all.
  10. Wow! 7k! That's crazy. Glad to have you here...makes up for my less than stellar contributions
  11. I checked the tech spec for the 2846 and it is less detailed than those for the still manufactured movements so I couldn't judge cross compatibility of parts. I would think that you would have to move over all of the moving parts to get it to work right, although not sure the base plate will take them. Interesting idea and attempt, curious to see how you make out.
  12. Traveling this week and brought my trusty LZ1 with me this time
  13. Very cool piece. Who ever won the auction did well. A very clean specimen and the replacement mesh bracelet suited it perfectly.
  14. That is actually not true. V2 was the best available but good luck finding one now, unfortunately long gone. There are 2 versions out there now V1.5 and V3. The 1.5 is basically a V1 with updated dial printing. The V3 is the better one and has the correct datewheel, case, etc. However, they both share the same dial. The gen dial will fit all versions so long as movement is 2824 or clone. @Datlore Just make sure you get the V3 as a base watch. If you are not sure post up pics/link of what you are looking at and we can help to ID it.
  15. Nice V1.5. All depends how much you want to put into it. A relume of existing will be less than $80. A gen dial swap will be the cost of the dial ~$300 + relume of the hands to match the new dial. If it were me I would just get a relume. Most of the modders on the various fora could handle this for you (Zigmeister, Vacuum, etc)
  16. I did mine with the bezel still on. I taped around the crystal to protect it from the scotchbrite pad, this was the hardest part. Once protected I just wiped around the bezel with the pad until I was satisfied with the look. Sorry, no pics at the moment but pretty much the same as those shown above.
  17. That sucks. However, might be a good opportunity to pop the crystal out completely and have new AR done. Then get it reassembled. Nothing to lose now
  18. Hello and welcome. You have come to the right place.
  19. Congrats. Nothing like having kids can put life into perspective. Sounds like you have the $1M dollar family. Mine came the same way. Your daughter will have a built in protector for life
