  1. It appears that criticising anything to do with rep watches is having an attitude. If it wasn't for reading all the comments re faults on rep watches received, perhaps I'd be more positive. If you are spending upwards of $200 on a rep watch why shouldn't you expect the same level of quality as in any other watch in that price range? Does anyone even consider what it might actually cost to manufacture a rep watch that sells for $200 on this forum? I guess if you want a forum comprised of people who only have positive things to say, perhaps it's not for me. I'm also a member of the Seiko and Citizen Forum where constructive criticism is welcomed and the shoddy products exposed. Maybe if it was made clear to the retailers of rep watches that buyers weren't prepared to continuously accept faulty watches, that in turn would relay back to the actual manufacturers and the standard would improve. Saying and doing nothing certainly won't change anything.
  2. I don't get it. How is it I can buy a generic s/s bracelet from ebay for $20 that has lasted three years without any problems, and the same on the OEM bracelets on $100 Seikos and yet I hear about all these failures on reps. If I'm paying over $100 for a watch I shouldn't have to deal with all this s**t. I'm starting to think that the rep watch market is a total scam and that people are paying very good money for inferior products. I recently purchased a used Seiko Velatura for around $120 and if there's any rep that come remotely close in quality at that price I'd me amazed.
  3. You mean as opposed to a "genuine" cheap imitation?
  4. I know the Alphas aren't reps but "look-alikes", but I wondered how a $70 Alpha compares in quality to a $120 Omega SMP lite (plus shipping). Has anyone owned both? It appears as a nooby that with most reps you pays your money and takes your chances, no comebacks, but at least with an Alpha you do get a 12 month warranty. I guess my question is, is it worth spending an extra $100 or more just to have that Omega logo?
  5. I'm looking for the grey dial Chopard GTXL, non-chrono, non-GMT. I can't find any dealers that sell that particular model. Anyone know who sells the grey dial?
  6. I thought just because it was a 45mm Planet Ocean, that didn't necessarily make it a UPO. As the link I posted shows, the 45mm PO can be had for as little as $118, I don't think you can buy a UPO for that. http://www.rwg.cc/members/redirect.php?url...6cPath%3D35_114
  7. Thanks for the info. Thian, I have sent you an email.
  8. Thanks for the sound advice. I thought the UPO was just a larger (45mm) version of the PO but obviously not. It's early days and I'm on a very steep learning curve.
  9. Really, what about these? http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...mp;cPath=35_114
  10. only want to spend around a $100. Anyone recommend a seller they have bought from that offered reasonable quality at this price? Also, I see the banner for top10brand.com at the top of the page. Are they are recommended seller?
  11. If I was interested in buying a rep from a private seller or a dealer is it acceptable to ask for references here? As I'm a nooby I have no idea as to the reputation of any seller.
  12. Thanks for all the input guys. Certainly a lot of helpful advice there. I think I'll bite the bullet and buy a cheapie to start with from one of the recommended sellers on this forum.
  13. I said that I know exactly want I want, an Omega PO. You'd think nothing simpler. Wrong.
  14. Thanks, but just reading the Noob Guide is giving me a headache. I think I better quit and come back when I'm refreshed.
  15. I only joined up today, but have spent the last few hours doing quite a bit of research. Conclusion so far, it's not an easy matter buying a replica watch. It's not like ebay where I can just enter a particular watch model and then just either bid or buy now. It's not that I don't know exactly what I'm after (an Omega UPO) so you'd think, how difficult can it be? Well, first up, try and find a seller that has them and has the price listed and then try and find someone that's already bought to get some feedback. It might be just easier to jump on a plane to Shanghai and buy one off the street.
  16. Yes, an Omega PO, but even there I'm lost. Prices vary from less than a $100 to the "sky's the limit". Will keep reading up from this forum though.
  17. I was talking generally, not about this forum.
  18. Thanks for the welcome and the heads-up. For a newbie it's a bottomless pit of information/misinformation though.
  19. I said I was a newbie and that's why I'm here, to get pointed in the right direction. You might tell me how you know Amatory is a scam site. Thanks for the link to recommended sellers.
  20. Just started taking an interest in replica watches and one of the sellers that seems to get good feedback is Amatory watches. However, even though they say that they photograph their watches from every angle, the pictures look more like drawings and the detail is poor. Has anyone bought from them?
  21. First time poster and just started to take an interest in replica watches. Have been a long time member of the Seiko and Citizen forum and that's what my watch collection mainly consists of, except for an Alpha and a Parnis.
