  1. The photos of the rep Portuguese at the top of this link are misleading as they make the dial on the rep appear to be somewhat grainy and silvery. The photo of the gen at the bottom, the one the guy is bragging about, is much closer to the gold hands rep I received from EL. The dial on mine is a pure pearlescent white and looks like a near clone of the gen in the photo on this link.

  2. Thanks for the outstanding photos. I just today ordered the same watch from EL and your photos tell me I made the right call. I've been waiting and waiting for a first-rate rep of this watch, and now it's here. Personally, I think the medium brown band looks great on this watch; as you say, it nicely complements the gold hands and white face. I think the gen comes with black croc strap, but black straps on white face/stainless steel case watches are almost too common, about all you ever see. It's nice to try a different look and the brown strap works very well here. Also, it looks like a fairly heavily padded strap.

  3. Very nice, TwoTone! Both the Jones and your photos. This is a superb watch. I bought a rose gold from Eddie Lee that arrived 3 days ago. I can't get it off my wrst. Like you, I now want a second Jones, one of the stainless steel versions, probably the blue-hands model. As for the strap, one thing you might try. The one that came on my Jones was the usual rep strap, this one in a kind of brick red/light brown color that had me immediately thinking about an upgrade. But remember, these things ARE leather. So I took some brown Kiwi polish and used a soft cloth to work it into the band in firm, circular motions, putting a few drops of water on every 30 seconds or so and using a soft shoe brush to buff it out between coats. I think I put 3 light coats on it, then topped it off with 2 coats of gloss black using the same process. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes. The result is a small miracle. I now have a dark, dark cordovan strap with a semi-gloss burnished luster that looks about 95% like a genuine alligator strap I bought from Banda for $80 a few months back and perfectly complements the rose gold case. Total transformation. Give it a try before you bail on the strap.

    Enjoy your Jones!

  4. The assertion by some that Floyd took some kind of 1-shot hit of testosterone the night before his huge win on Stage 18 and that's why he won is preposterous, as the testimony of the experts in this article confirms. He won because he was the strongest rider in this year's Tour. The juice works only if it's taken over a period of weeks, even months. Floyd was tested 3 times the previous week when he was in yellow and apparently passed these. He has always had unusually high testosterone levels, as do many athletes. As one of the head docs on the World Anti-Doping Association said yesterday: "Something here just doesn't add up." Couple that with Floyd's background, reputation, and character and you would logically conclude that he did not cheat. Moreover, the results of the A sample should not have been released until confirmed by the B sample.

  5. Good to know it's not just me. Yeah, I did send them off an email earlier, so we'll see what they have to say. Thanks for the response.

Yea, just tried it & got the same. Silix-prime is normal, but I know silixwatch is on a completely different server/ISP. It almost looks like an admin logon that you would use when you update/upload your site. Shoot 'em off an email and ask.

  6. Have Jay and Angel changed something on their Web site? When I try www.silixwatch.com, I get some window with "Helm" at the top and slots to type in user name and password. Is anyone else encountering this? If so, what's the password?

  7. New topic. Does Paul accept any kind of credit card payment, or just WU and Moneybroker? Those are the only 2 options when I tried to check out, but his Q & A lists PayPal and credit card as types of payments acceptied. Before someone jumps in here screaming, yes, I sent Paul 2 emails asking this question but he did not reply.

    Is that it ?

  8. www.thewatchprince.com has a good selection of both regular and short straps, everything from their great for the money Island Croc series($18) to expensive genuine croc and alligator. I have a 6.5" wrist and buy all my replacement straps from them. Outstanding customer service, too.

I have some watch stands, and you may have seen them in my photos, abd they're ok, apart from one little problem. They're for huge wrists.

This means every time I want to take pics of my SS or Ti watches, I have to add links to the straps. This is a little annoying, and adds wear and tear to the straps, as I'm sure you can imagine with the number of photos I take.

I've already broken two with the straps being too tight, and was wondering if anyone has a good source of stands that are confirmed normal-person-sized at around 6.5" to 7" wrist equivalent.

Any help at all would be appreciated. I have no objections to TehBay as long as I can be sure they're of a certain size.

ps: The divers' extensions make the straps too big, fwiw.

  9. xelor. Try www.watchprince.com. He had some nice croc and gator straps on sale last month. Not sure if they still are, but he seems to have a wide range of straps at (what seem to me) good prices. He's located in Sherwood, OR which is just south of Portland. Even his faux croc Island-something straps at about $18 are respectable.

  10. I have the YG from Josh. Incredible watch. Really thick (must be 16-17mm) and the Patek engraving around the sides of the case are a stylish touch. The strap on mine isn't all that bad, so I've seen no need to replace it, though this may not be true of all. With the small pushbuttons, the subs can be adjusted instantly, as opposed to some calendar models where you have to use the tip of a ballpoint to do this. You'll love this watch.

  11. Neil, next time how about including the specs and price up front when you tempt us? This one was sold even before it was (at least publicly) offered up for sale. I posted a request for case dimensions and price a couple of days ago, but this information was never posted.

  12. I just received the same 4thGen PO from Andrew, and it's a magnificent watch in every way: workmanship, weight, finish, details, the right orange color on the bezel, engraved back, etc. The only real flaw is that (and I don't think this was true of earlier versions) the Omega logo and name at the top (just beneath the 12) are actually touching, that is there is no space at all between them. On the 3rdGens, the space was about half of what it is on the gens, but on mine, there is no space at all. It LOOKS as if your watch is the same. Is it?
