Wow, is a collaboration The Zigmeister / Davidesn rising here?
That would be outstanding!

Feek, I suppose you told him that in order to unscrew the crown he had to turn it counterclockwise.
-
If I were a rep manufacturer I would prefer to use genuine gold rather than rhodium, being the cost of rhodium about three times that of gold...

Wow, this is announcing as very interesting.

This was mainly from my fiddy. Everytime I bend my wrist the CG digs into the hand and it rubs on the wrist bone as well.
Ah, a 47 mm. Then all is clear.
I did not get one of those giants so far for similar reasons.

Don't think it's allergic. When wearing a standard rep bracelet, which most probably has sharp edges, it happens very often that outter skin gets rubbed... try touching the skin, it should feel smooth as hell, like you worked on it with sanding paper... It's plain normal, had that too!
The spots are at a lug position - and at the CG position...
clearly no allergy..y
I beg your pardon, but surely it can be allergic as long as the case and the caseback are made of different materials (as, e.g., in a PVD coated watch).
Anyway, since Finepics is inclined to exclude allergy too, I'll rely upon his and your diagnosis.
-
By chance, was it the PVD one, Mark?
Hardly to judge from pics only, but that inflammatory reaction does not look due to mechanical pressure, but rather to some allergic response.
In any case, just rest (1) and some topic steroid medication will do the job.
(1) wear your watch on your right wrist for some days -- another watch is recommended though

I am actually enquiring Davidsen on hands for a PAM104 that I recently purchased, and that I want to mod with gold hands (eeeeek!
).
He looked willing and helpful so far. Still waiting for his last response, though.
If anyone is interested in the hand specs of these common asian automatic 21j movements everywhere around, here are those I have found:
hour hand: hole diameter 1.55 mm, length 10 mm (from the middle of the hole to the tip)
minute hand: hole diameter 1 mm, length 14 mm
small second hand: hole diameter 0.18 mm
(thanks to The Zigmeister for providing info on hole sizes)

shultz & Chicken Manny:
Your orders have been booked. Thanks for your appreciation.

The Zigmeister, I have been left speechless. The amount of knowledge from your reviews and tutorials is simply overwhelming. And every single word clearly tells of your love and devotion to your work and those little wonderful objects that tiemepieces are. THANKS!

Always the same ol' TTK... He shouts, he roars, he bites, but in the end he always stands behind his customers.

All expeditions from Andrew took 3 weeks or more to come to my hands.
And in all that time the USPS/POSDAFTAR tracking system proved to be completely useless.

4 auto for me:
1 for ETA 2893 -- PVD coated (by arrangement with Tommy a little more than one month ago)
3 for asian auto Miyota82xx-like, if they too are ready.
Looking for price and instructions on payment, via PM or how else you like.

Damn I am late to the party.

Very good, thanks again.

Thanks slickdick, I found.
But then I am beginning to suspect that my friend told me something wrong when he said he wanted an Oyster band. He showed me a band like this, saying it was the Oyster model (but it looks different from River's):
-
Mark, just try and do even a little bit less than that in your job for me, and I'll fly to London to chase you!
-
slickdick,
thanks for your reply and that link to your very informative post.
About River, I already checked his place, but I was actually unable to find any Datejust models.
Maybe I am missing his actual link?
The one I used is: http://photobucket.com/albums/b327/river325/

does that guy belong to this site? no watch!
Really, I did not notice that. What a shame!
All I can suppose is that the watch is behind the cap...

Hi all,
a friend of mine (who believes I am an expert in reps) asked me to find a watch for him. He wants a Datejust w/ Swiss movement, white face, roman numerals, and Oyster bracelet.
Now, as a matter of fact, I am a complete ignorant about Rolex. So here I am asking any help from our experts in the matter.
I surfed all 'our' dealers sites and albums and I seem to have found it @:
Silixprime (model rols022)
King (model Rolex-223 Swiss)
Aspire (model W133 -- other models have the tilted "V"(5) marker)
perhaps EL (models dj16, dj18, dj27, dj34, dj42, dj47, dj67, dj76).
I am still unsure on whether EL's ones are in Swiss movt. I asked him about movement, crystal, and size, and his reply was:
sapphire
tw maker
standard man size 36mm
I may think that that 'tw maker' stands for his answer about the movement, and that it means 'made in TW'. Still, price would suggest differently.
I asked again EL for a confirmation, but had no reply so far. And I would like to have my friend waiting not too long.
So my questions are:
1) Do you know whether those models from EL are Asian or Swiss movement?
2) Which are the major flaws that one has to look for when considering Datejust models?
3) Do you know of any other dealer that is able to provide a watch like that I am looking for?
4) Or, shortly, do you already know if any model among those I took in consideration is better or worse than others?
5) Any other suggestion about the issue?
Really thanks,
sss :sss:
P.S.: I see I made a typo in the topic description. Sorry, I found no way to edit it.
