docdoc, the crystal you are after is usually called "domed". You will find it in vintage PAMs (like that in your pic) and in PAMs with the so-called "1950" case, either 44mm or 47mm. Examples of 44mm are: the 212, 213, 253, and many J- and K- series models like the 270, 275, 286, 289... (it looks as the OP recently discovered that many PAM fans actually like them in the end). Examples of 47mm are: the 127, 203, 217, 276.

These of mine are just thoughts, pubus, not even comments, let alone advices. Sorry. I always considered the radiomir the dressy side of PAMs, so I am unsure about an all-black model like that. On the other hand, a black dressy watch might be a nice contrast, and it is surely puzzling. I wish you good luck about getting comparisons of rep ceramic vs gen ceramic, I doubt there are gen ceramic PAM owners here around. And I have no clue about how to mod a rep ceramic surface. All in all, at that price I would say: go for it, play with it, make your tests on it... ... then let us all know. Just, as the OP released a similar model without the "maiale" on the dial, it is likely that the rep makers may soon release it as well. I personally would wait a bit and see if this comes out, as I can't stand that rep maiale. EDIT: I saw that fellows posted their replies while I was typing mine. So it's PVD. Oh, crap. No modding allowed here. You might just make it shinier.

I agree, no doubt that people here love watches both reps and gens. And I doubly agree, no gen forum as good as this. But... what I was actually meaning is that when people come here for the first time they are hunting for reps, or info about reps. I doubt that mixing both reps and gens in search results will be useful. Or we should have a search option "search in all sections but the gen".

Guys, I feel that some hard-blooded reactions here has been triggered just by a mispell in t's sentence "I will not miss this board". It happened because "to miss", in German like in Italian language, is often used differently than in English. I can assure you that what t was actually meaning was something like "I will not miss to frequent this board". It's out of doubt that t likes watches, and it's also evident that he likes projects even more. Projects that are part of the rep game, not of the gen game. This by t clearly is an intellectual interest, not an economical interest. You can be sure about it. And this sort of interests makes great benefit to all us rep lovers. What I am trying to say is please don't misunderstand t's post. He already proved beyond any doubts he is a friend here. A rep-friendly friend. Didn't he? That said, I personally do not feel the need for a gen section. The web already has plenty of them. People come here because this is a rep forum.

My favourite tool to remove cyclops is a solder iron, as it allows to bring heat quite exactly where you want. E.g., I would not like putting direct flame on AR coat. And I absolutely subscribe to lani's advice about the thermal capacity of watch crystals.

You did not really mean to include the PAM 100, did you? It's a pink gold radiomir w/ diamond dial. Better as accuracy with the gen? Features? Movement? Overall quality? Quality/price ratio? If you also post a link to the 091 you found this might help to help.

Thought I'd better submit the catalogue page to your own evaluation. It's a 2002 catalogue, therefore it is a 091E. I marked in yellow the text concerning the CG.

You are welcome, kye. Please be advised that, while on the CG the cataloge clearly says "brushed SS" in text (well, it actually says "acciaio satinato", in Italian), it does not say anything about the crown. Polished crown look is just showing in the 091 pic.

@kye: from the catalogue again, the crown looks polished. @rolli: your watch looks a hybrid. If you tell me which numbers are engraved on the caseback, I might tell you more.
