  1. I don't know if this can be to anyone's interest, but Cousinsuk is selling two movements common on our reps. I bought both them to take a look. 1. Our beloved, ubiquitary "Asian 21J" w/ small seconds @ 9Hr. This is the Miyota 8215 Chinese copy that we find, e.g., on our Asian 21J PAM reps, and in many other reps. Cousinsuk's code: 3809M. Price: 9.95 GBP. 2. The "complicated Asian 21J" w/ PR @ 6Hr and 24hrs @ 12Hr functions. This is the movement used, e.g. (with the 24hrs function unused), in Silix' inexpensive (80 USD) PAM 027 rep. Cousinsuk's code: 3886D3M. Price: 13.95 GBP. To tell it all, the movements from Cousinsuk look a bit more solid and well-finished than their counterparts found in our reps. But sizes, spacing, date placement, etc, are the same as in our rep's "Asian 21J". Just a chance for a replacement (or even an improvement?) when needed...
  2. Awesome watch & combo indeed! Just, for the sake of god, next time portray it on a contrast background!
  3. Airmail all the way. They cannot check thousands letters each day.
  4. Thanks for the great review! And the strap tip is pure gold.
  5. Sure, I missed the opportunity to save some money as I bought reps that arrived different from what I ordered.
  6. I don't see any diamond model among their new models. And the 233 is a beauty. Period. Just, should I ever get one, I'll remove the GMT hand.
  7. Unfortunately, no. I am also quite of a noob about Rolex... :(
  8. Good to know, freddy, thanks for the info! Do you think that filing it down to erase the engravings would remove too much of the caseback thickness?
  9. Awesome, exciting tutorial, freddy! Thanks! Just, it's more than 500 bucks + CG reshaping special skills + all the work & hassle...
  10. I got it on Tonyxkf's website, here. It was on weekly promotion at 199 USD, now it's out of promotion at 399 USD. But Tony's prices are blowupped on his site, I suppose he would sell it at about 250 USD (I seem to remember this was its price on CQout). Just please don't laugh too loudly at the rotor.
  11. Well, I actually DON'T even have Photoshop... It's PaintShop. And no skill needed, it's just a trivial matter. And no thanks needed. It's always a pleasure posting in your threads, Vicky.
  12. Honestly, I would not go for it. Three issues: 1. It is a model with secs @ 9Hr. No need for a lemania mvt with secs @ 9, the 7750 is good enough. 7750 problems arise on secs @ 6Hr, like in the one I got (and that I am aware is a bit of a gambling -- fingers crossed). 2 and 3 are accuracy issues: 2. The aligmnent of the E & W pins with the central pin (as scoobs correctly pointed out) and 3. the placement of the "ROLEX" text are like in the "Vicky's" model. These are completely acceptable @ 50 USD, not @ 180. To anyone who cares: when you choose a Daytona, look for: 1. The size and placement of the "ROLEX" (and following) text. The "ROLEX" text should be aligned with the bottom end of the 11Hr and 1Hr marks, not below. 2. The size and placement of the subdials. 3. The aligment of the central pin with the E & W pins (the E & W should be placed a little upper). 4. The size and shape of the crown and crown guards. 5. The crispness of the logo and all engravings. 6. The bezel's width. 7. Anything else that may come to your mind. I am positive that the model I chose has a very decent quality/price ratio. Its main flaw (to my eyes) is in the marks -- they are sort of a little "fatter" than the genuine. I can live with that. Actually, I even like that more than the gen. But I am aware it is an inaccuracy.
  13. Good girl. I too! Good watch for the price, Vicky, congrats on your find! Here is a compare pic with a gen and the watch that I got @ special offer 199 USD s/h included:
  14. Go for the silver subdial model, Vicky. No doubt. Btw, I just got it. Btw 2, you showed a Silix pic (thanks again for letting me see your pics!), but it's looks not on Silix' list anymore. Maybe they can still source it anyway...
  15. In Italy spending more than one can afford has become a rule of life. I heard on TV news that the Italian families are currently in debt for 3000 millions euros and this keeps raising. Actually, this is encouraged by sellers. They sell at discounted price (even 30% less) if you accept this kind of buy: You take away the item now. Six months from now, you are given the choice to either pay the discounted price in a single stroke, or to start paying instalments for 2-5 years at scandalous interest fees. Many families, at the sixth month, have no money enough to pay even the discounted price, so they start paying by instalments. While they are paying, the cost of very essential goods and services (gas, electric energy, water, food, etc) increase and they have no money to pay even the instalments. In the end, they come out by selling away their home and/or wife's and/or daughter's... uhm... "beauty". As a matter of fact, 50% of publicity/advertisements in Italy are by banks and credit companies, and 40% are about cars, phones and so. And the Italians are getting each day poorer and more stupid (with the latter being the cause, and the first the effect, naturally)...
  16. Yes it's caliber 90, i.e. 0.9mm. AFAIK all ETA autos are that caliber.
  17. What I can say / confirm: 1. AR coating is a major improvement to any cyclops. On my own experience, chieftang's first single-side AR run turned one "watchmen" cyclops and one "chieftang-1st-series" cyclops from >just good< to >gorgeous< (that is also why all my cyclopses for the PAM 027 and 028 have always been AR coated). Honestly, I have to add that AR coating only the cyclops is a little less effective than AR coating the whole crystal. On my experience, AR coated cyclopses reduce refelection of about 75-80%, while AR coated crystals reduce them 95%. However, this is an excellent improvement, and it is the only choice to anyone with an early series PAM (no AR on the gen). 2. D-series PAM 087 (500 watches made) had 6mm cyclops, while the E-H series (1500 watches collectively) had giant cyclops, at least 7mm and most likely 7.5mm. 3. The 024 rep has a sandwich crystal. 99% chance that also the gen is the same.
  18. Gen XL PO logo: Curiously, lello's pic shows a decent logo when unshrunk: ...but unfortunately it must be just an optical effect (jpg compression?), as lello's other pics clearly show the incorrect logo.
  19. Does the movement stop even if removed off the case?
  20. Well, the first thread was even back in July '07... But you are always welcome, asleep or else.

  22. Excellent info, J.! So, the "L SWISS MADE L" close to the "6" in the J series is less than an urban legend. And the new 104 dial is definitely inaccurate. Good to know.
  23. Exactly, my friend! That is exatly the watch I was speaking about: Here is another pic of it: That watch also has an OP 6630 case number: atypical to I series, it would make a better fit to H-series. In the end, that watch is H-series as its dial and case. I bet it was an unsold 104H that the Officine got reprinted in serial nr, and they sold it as an I-series. I wonder how many 104s underwent that same fate that year. That watch is serialized 604/4000, i.e. not too high. I suspect that the earlier 20% of the I-series might be alike. Just, I would not say that the "L SWISS MADE L" is so close to the "6". The high "L SWISS MADE L" should be of J-series only (according with the rumors, at least)...
