  1. Do you see the markers on the subdial of the gen running al the way to the subdial edge while the markers on the DW stop before the edge. This is a big flaw imho. Further the white paint looks lighter. By the way how did you transplant that coronet?
  2. No it fits straight in there. The dial is gen and cost me 60 euro including gen hands (but they did not fit). The back of the dial is black and says RolexRolexRolex and has numbers. I had to cut the feet of the dial by the way in order to fit.
  3. So I have the DW vj72 case. Snatched an ebay
  4. I own several MBW's and mucho other reps. The Ferrari 008 is my first Pam. I am totally in fond of it. It keeps excellent time +4 sec per 24 hours and it has a huge power reserve... after two days in the box it still ran in the morning!!! I get way more compliments than with my MBW 1665 fully modded on the NATO strap. Funny huh... I ordered a nice Havana rough leather strap on TZ for it.
  5. I have a roamer stingray with a vj23. Which is very sad to tear apart for a Franken. So I decided to keep it the way it is. It cost me 325 on the bay a while back.
  6. Well I bought a gen one on the bay a while back (not from this seller by the way) and put it in Andrews and it looks like this now.
  7. Up for sale on the bay lot 270116162338 Can be put in a Andrew Expl2
  8. Well Zig, I will try to score a vj72 but that seems hard... I get outbid every occasion even with snipers... seem to run in the 1200 nowadays. As I grab one I will ask you to service it and assemble it ... a tropic should also be installed... so pm me a price if you will. Cheers.
  9. Does anybody know where to get a gen Tropic 21 for around 60 bucks. I can not find them on the bay anymore. Further if there is anybody with a spare vj72 movement it would be great. Just mist one on the bay yesterday (using the sniper myself).
  10. This is such a great informative read... I guess the cheap 28XX can be done the quick and dirty way... if they are not 100% who cares... and a new one will set you back only 50 eur (should not exceed the service costs). A vj72, 23 or 7750 is a different story. They are hard to find, expensive to replace and valuable... proper care is eminent... Well I would take the Zig way. Just my 2 cent.
  11. PM sent no intention to offend you
  12. I think someone is messing around with us.. the movement looks generic
  13. I decided to pick up this project again and still would like some expertise on this case. Here is the sideshot... is this a vj72 case or is it the vj23 case. DW sold it to me as a vj23... given the Avitt post it appears like a vj72. Please advise. I have a vj23 donor but am in the process of purchasing a vj72 donor. Problem is that they are to nice to rip...
  14. Funny I just received my Scuderia Ferrari 008 with Asian 7750. Does the same resetting thing. I don't care it looks good to me because I have e gen Valjoux 7750 IWC from 81 that has also the same thing. It overpulls when resetting and then goes back to 0 when released. Feels very solid to me.
  15. Here it finally is... My MBW 1665 fully modded... A keeper for sure... Now I am just looking for a genuine insert or a good rep with good acrylic lume dot and thinner numbers... (Any suggestions??) This are the mods - Dial, lume and hands aged - Case rounded and CG's reshaped - Genuine tube and '67 Triplock crown - Gen Tropic superdome #39 with rubber seal (watch is watertested with a 30m dive ) - Ubi datewheel... pain in the butt to install the first time but when its done it looks great! - Caseback reworked to be gen looking - Lug holes drilled and gen springbars fitted - NATO strap for cool looks Enjoy!
  16. Scuderia Ferrari Chrono 008 by Panerai... Just received it... WooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW!
  17. It might have been me who stated the way to adjust the caseback. I have posted pics also. You have to clear the aint first with a tippie and terpentine. Then you run a engraving bit over the letters to smooth the edges. Then polish it.
  18. The supposed MBW looks fair. Dimensions look god. At this stage there is a gen for sale on the bay. Snag the pics to have a reference. I am big fan of the 1655. IMHO this is what should be done to make the MBW look best - Hands hands hands - Gen tropic looks good on yours - Lug holes (drill them from the inside by surpassing the opposite lug at the bottom side with a long drill and lots of cooling fluid) That would make a splendid watch.
  19. The only thing that springs to mind is the wrong handstack. Further it looks all right to me.
  20. Yep my gen valjoux 7750 in my IWC does that exact same thing.
  21. Just paid for two of these beauties. Ubi and Kruz you guys are a true value add for this community. Excellent work... I am so hapy now!!!!
  22. So anyone that can confirm the Torx screwdriver fit those 6mm tubes... which one do I need...
  23. Pole position granted... awaiting details!
  24. It is getting close to judgement day... I can feel it... DRSD and WSD MBW wait for the ultimate go!!
