  1. If you need the date, the same seller has the same sterile dial with a window at 3. At least you won't have to worry about it fitting on most ETA movements. jmb would be the guy to consult on these Rolex/Tudor Oyster projects. He has a very nice Pink Ranger (and that's not a Sean Avery joke).
  2. If you don't mind losing the branding, there is a sterile Snowflake dial available on eBay (item #220783138693). Claimed diameter is 29mm, so you may be able to trim it to fit into a Datejust case.
  3. Looking very good, ebzen02! I also like the 2 o'clock spot. I can't tell if it's just finger oil, but did you do something to age the bezel?
  4. It's... too... damn... hot... for leather. 35C in this part of the world. Time to call NATO in:
  5. From what I can tell, the MM has no relation to the P3133 or the V7733 family. The MM has a column wheel, and is a much thinner movement. It kinda/sorta looks like a Valjoux 23, but so do a pile of other chronograph movements from the 20th century! MM and V23:
  6. Andy: I think Freddy mentioned in the past that he had received a DW bezel that took a genuine Tropic 21 without needing any modifications. Maybe you got a similar one? All I know is that all of the bezels I've received from DW (I think it's five now!) had too narrow an inner diameter. ebzen02: If you want the modern, angled T21, J&K is the only option I know of. For the older, domed crystal, I'll give Sternkreuz a slight edge over Clark. You can get SKs from Ofrei.
  7. Looking good, woof! The 1171 is the perfect go-anywhere bracelet for the SM300. But I went with flashy mesh for Saturday:
  8. You're trying to squeeze a 30.6mm crystal into a 30.3mm bezel. It's not going to happen--not with any Tropic 21 on the market. I've used a Sternkreuz, Clark, J&K, and genuine Rolex. I will confirm that none of them fits in an unmodified DW bezel. Either you trim the inside of the bezel, or you sand the outside of the crystal. Maybe a bit of each.
  9. I suggest you take your cases to the nearest hospital and have them X-rayed. Then you'll know if the CGs are hollow or not. Nah, just kidding! Odds are even that they're solid, so pull out your file and have it!
  10. You will need to trim the inner diameter of DW's bezel in order to get a gen-sized Tropic 21 to fit. That includes aftermarket crystals from Clark, Sternkreuz, &c.
  11. There was a black 6238 dial on eBay a couple of months ago, in near-perfect condition. It was a close auction, but in the end I was outbid by $30,0000.
  12. I've never been much of an Offshore guy (the watch, not the big helpful Aussie!), or much of an AP fan, for that matter. But those two in Nikki's case are terrific!
  13. 9 users reading the topic right now. Good job, slick! Ahem... "reading".
  14. Andei: Beautiful shot, as usual! It's an Explorer day for me:
  15. You think the people around you know more about your watches than you do?
  16. Thanks, farmer! J: Who needs lume when you've got that high-intensity red and high-intensity orange to show you the way? As the cross-hatched twin crowns indicate, it's a Super Compressor, and the inside of the caseback is stamped for 1970. I still have to do some more research on this specific model. (Uhh... Maybe you should've done that BEFORE you bought it?)
  17. Fortis Marinemaster aka "The Watch from Space Mountain"
  18. Boys size Datejust, bought on the streets of Hong Kong in 1996: Eh... could be worse!
  19. The Speedsonic Lobster is a real beauty, and one of my favorite Omegas of the 1970s. I would definitely love to add one to my collection, but they're not cheap--at least, not the examples that are all-original. I've been looking at the Precisionist for its sweep and accuracy, but the styling just doesn't grab me.
  20. Well, it seems like what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again, and there is definitely nothing new under the sun! The topic of tap sizes was discussed from 2006-2008, in relation to DW's original 6263 cases. I believe the dimensions hold true for DW's current crop of 6239 cases. Here's one thread. I wish some of those guys were still here on RWG-Rolex! The answer is 0.25mm x 0.25 for DW's pushers, and 0.25mm x 0.2 for genuine, Ofrei, and Cousins pushers.
