  1. Based on the pictures I've seen, the DW looks very similar to the old Phongs, even down to common errors e.g. lughole placement. However, I think someone may have verified that the Phong does indeed take a genuine Cyclope 128 without modifications. And as modelizer said, those caseback engravings... I would dearly love to have those. If DW offered an improved 7032 caseback, he could sell it at any price*. (*Up to $120.)
  2. Only my second Panerai ever, and my first out-of-the-box rep in one year. I am officially on the 288 bandwagon:
  3. Fantastic work, Chi! It takes a lot of nerve to try your first lume job on a gen dial, but it came off very nicely.
  4. Looks like a possible Yuki build, based on the terrible alignment of the 2,4,8,10 home plates.
  5. Yeesh... That pair is a tough act to follow! Anyhow, here's my silver 7750 twins:
  6. Parts tease! Show us the goods!
  7. Andei3000: Superb photos and watch. LHOOQ meets flex:
  8. I would've mentioned Ubi earlier, but I thought it would be insulting to even enter him in a yearly contest!
  9. All I remember from the Shanghai "fake" markets were some of the pushiest (if not THE pushiest) sellers I have encountered in all of Asia. To be precise, they weren't so much pushy as they were "pully" i.e. they were yanking me by the arm to look at their crappy goods. Guangzhou is still where you want to go for the reps, but it's a long way from Shanghai. Enjoy the wonderful buildings on the Bund, and the more, er, challenging architecture in the rest of the city.
  10. I just saw this thread now, and I'm humbled to even be mentioned in this thread, by three guys I admire. However, I would like to jiu-jitsu that honor and deflect it back to jmb. How many of you out there own a watch that was worked on by Justin, or contains a part that he fabricated? OK, now vote!
  11. Love the band, hate the fans, and not too crazy about the new albums, either! Likewise, from my experience exchanging PMs, the guys I chat with on the rep forums are more pleasant, and much more knowledgeable/eager-to-learn than their incurious, gen-owning counterparts.
  12. Nice, Ronin! Looks like you picked up one of the Alligoat Albino dials! DW used to sell both flavors of red exotic, but Chi is the only guy I know who was gutsy enough to buy one! They're nice looking dials, but I'm not sure how accurate they are to the gens.
  13. Gevril Tribeca: The Rich Man's Poor Man's Daytona
  14. Admins should take that as a compliment. There hadn't been any need for an RWG refugee camp until now!
  15. I saw The American after vlydog mentioned it in a post, and George's Speedy gets an amazing amount of screen time for a non-Space Race movie. The film itself is... OK. I appreciated the locations and its deliberate pace, but Le Samourai it ain't.
  16. I know which one I'd pick, but they're both beautiful watches. Will Mrs. Ubi be wearing hers on leather? On a side note, I have to say that the DW 6239 case is finished very well, in contrast to his current 6263, well-known for its sharp edges and, er, variable dimensions.
