  1. My 6239 returns after an extended absence: Thanks to janeto72 for his amazing work!
  2. Do you have one in Multicam?
  3. Nice! Lots of action from that viewpoint! Sunday in the cheap seats:
  4. Bellows driven by pistons! Jacquet-Droz had a prototype "Charming Bird" wristwatch similar to the OP's automaton in last year's Baselworld. I'm not sure if they've developed the design further. (It's not like I'm on the waiting list.)
  5. Definitely. It's great to have a different team winning, but then again, I also wish that Senna hadn't crashed into the back of Jean-Louis Schlesser in '88!
  6. Ah... Wish I were there to have drinks with you and the Singapore gang, E.
  7. Very nice, prdubis. Congrats! Grandfather says hello:
  8. I agree. There are at least 4 different 6263 cases sold by Phong, and at least 3 different variants sold by DW. It's possible they all come from the same factory in Vietnam, but they are definitely not the same case. The differences are not due to finishing, but would have to be made at the casting level. Take a look at Valty's comparison, for starters.
  9. If this is what's delaying production of those Blancpain Fifty Fathoms reps, then I'll gladly take one with a "YES, RADIATIONS!" dial.
  10. The other problem with cheapo tools is that they almost always use cheapo steel. Expect the tweezer tips to bend and become dull. Screwdriver breakages will occur at the tips and around those colored plastic bands. Australia's a long way from you, but you can count on the tools sold at Watch Bitz (watchbitz.com.au), which is run by a longtime member of the forums (offshore).
  11. In lieu of one of the new ones:
  12. Me too! Me too! My ChiMan-ized 5512:
  13. Unfortunately due to time constraints, I wasn't able to write more in my first reply. This franken clearly deserves a lot more, so here goes: I know you asked for suggestions, but I wouldn't change a thing. Even drilling the lugholes seems to be a lot of risk for an uncertain amount of improvement. I am curious, though, about the depth of that display caseback. How much thicker is it than the standard 1601 part, and how does the watch sit on your wrist? I'm still amazed and impressed that you acquired a genuine gilt dial. It's gorgeous, and really sets your 1016 apart from projects that preceded it. Now, if only you could find a longer minute hand to go with it... OK, that's my one suggestion! Great job finding a superdome T22, by the way--especially one with the paper envelope. (Mine came in plastic, courtesy of a certain Mr. Mulholland.) Lovely, lovely build. Well done, and wear it well!
  14. What, exactly, is the basis of the Egyptian complaint? Either the ministry or the writer of the article is unclear.
  15. Stunning! Dirty up the hands and it's the spitting image of the OP photo!
  16. Everything I know about metallurgy and materials engineering comes from Prof. Rosie O'Donnell!
