It was disappointing, considering what Rolex could have done with the 50th Anniversary Daytona. Absent that burden of expectations, I think it's a looker.
Not a wristie, but last month I met a friend who was wearing one. Fantastic presence, though I wish Steinhart would spend a bit more for a less generic-looking clasp.
Ditto. Art Deco 'Skeleton Pears' are an odd choice for a diver!
Handsome watch, but aside from the bezel, not a strong resemblance to the FF. Were I to choose one homage to the original '53 FF, it would have to be the Helson Skindiver.
Thanks again! I hope we get a chance to meet again (or for the first time), and that I can get back to working on watch projects soon! All I need is cash...
I see what people are saying about the distortion along the edge of the crystal, but that is literally a marginal criticism. Beautiful rep!
By the way, does anyone know if the Tudor Rose logo on the crown is actually engraved on the gen? I always thought the design was only on the surface!
It's remarkable how many friends I've made through this hobby. I've had the pleasure of seeing many of you in person (over beer, pizza, or foie gras!), though there are a lot of people I've yet to meet but trust completely. Thanks very much to all of you!
I visit several forums, but RWG is the one I consider home. May it (and I!) go on for many more years!
P, I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that the SNZH55 is one of the eligible base watches for a Fifty-five Fathoms mod. The bezel on that watch is lovely.
Thank you, gt rider. I collect a lot of genuine sunglasses, but this widespread belief that wearing rep shades will cause your eyeballs to burst into flames needs to be dumped into the same bin as the "fake watches turn your wrist green" myth.
