I was wearing my first DW 7032 while on vacation in Bologna. The bracelet snagged on the strap of my backpack and a poorly-fitted springbar popped loose, sending the watch flying. It landed crown first on the concrete sidewalk.
A few dings, a few scratches, and a subdial hand popped off. Otherwise, OK.
I agree about the dial; the flat subdials are a giveaway. Hands look like Yukis and are too short. Bezel is aftermarket, has incorrect engravings. Crown guards are the wrong shape. Rehaut is the wrong angle.
I would be surprised if anything on this watch is original.
I'll try to be specific. The biggest flaws to my eyes are on the dial. The size, spacing, and shape of the fonts are glaringly inaccurate and look wrong at a quick glance.
The inaccuracies of the pushers, crown, case, bracelet, &c. are minor by comparison. It's crucial to have a convincing dial.
It has to be 20mm! Unless you're trying to be James Bond, there's no sense in using an under-sized strap.
Regarding leather, the best leather NATO I've ever owned is from RWG member mcotter:
The MBW 1016 is a great out-of-the-box Explorer, but I have to give the edge to JMB's case. It's upgradeable (it will take a gen-spec crystal), cheaper, and more accurate, after modding.
I'm glad this thread was resurrected, as I missed it in July. It's amazing how close those holes are to the lug edges, without touching them. Precision!
Some really nice watches up, and I haven't even had lunch yet! Love the sunburst texture on that 6238, love the PN on Jubilee, and, er, acknowledge that F-91W!
Enjoying a couple of my favorite chronographs on Sunday:
