  1. Superb, E! I'm beginning to see what all the hubbub over bronze is about!
  2. Where did you get production years of '58 to '67? I'm pretty sure 5500 Explorers were sold up to the late 1970s. However, I'm suspicious of the one pictured in your OP because the dial bears a strong resemblance to one that's made by Yukiwatch. The immediate tells are the puffy lume and the overly-rounded appearance of the numerals.
  3. I recommend the Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai! It's a great place if you're loaded, or if someone else is paying for it.
  4. Dang... I should have picked up a Porsche Diver for myself. Hope I didn't just miss you by a few days, F!
  5. 1016 for me, too. How long does it take to get up that damn mountain, anyway?
  6. You should see the earlier version!
  7. By-Tor: Love that shot, and love that shade of blue! Like jmb, an Explorer:
  8. From the side, the movement height appears to be identical to your no-date A7750, other than the ring that surrounds the datewheel. If that ring is removed, it makes little difference to the overall movement height because the transfer gears in the center are almost at the same level as that ring.
  9. Thanks, everyone, for the valuable input. DW has sent me an email, so I can return the movements to him. However, I'd like to investigate this further before I do. Here are pictures of the movement in question, starting with a close look at the combined calendar/transfer plate: Same thickness as other A7750s? Stem height: Bottom:
  10. I get the feeling that if you trimmed the 7736's plates and bridges until they were as thin as wafers, and carved out the insides of a Daytona case until it was like a stainless steel eggshell, you STILL wouldn't be able to fit one in the other! Subdial spacing should be identical between the V23/72 and the 7733 family, at ~7.8mm from canon pinion center to subdial center.
  11. Not crazy about the dial, but wanted to try out a new color. I haven't worn my 6239/7750 in ages!
  12. I've had this ETA service guide in my HD for a while. TIme to make some printouts and tell my 'smith to try again--and try harder!
  13. I ordered one of the new PAM127s from Perfect Clones back on February 21, for delivery in the first week of March. That delivery date was missed, as Joshua said that there were insufficient stocks. He mentioned that factories would be providing new pieces to the dealers on March 10. That date came and went, and I received no QC pics, let alone any update. I did get an EMS tracking number, though Joshua confirmed that nothing had been sent. My final email from Perfect Clones is dated March 24. I asked for an estimate on when the 127 might be available. "No idea sir..." Well, honesty's always appreciated. So here's my question: Has anyone had similar experiences waiting for a particularly hot rep? All of my past orders have taken no more than 2 weeks to process, and I would usually have a set of QC shots within 1 week. Granted, there's been all that news about the raids in China, but how long is too long? Am I being an impatient noob who can't even wait a measly two months for an order to be processed?
  14. I recently ordered from DW three Asian 7750 movements, to be used in his own Daytona cases. These movement have the required 3-6-9 layout. Unfortunately, they also have an unnecessary day/date complication, which makes the movement (minus the rotor) too thick for the case. According to DW, it should be a straightforward job for a watchmaker to remove the date mechanism. I brought one of these movement and a DW Daytona case to my watchsmith, and asked him to make it fit. Several days later, and he still couldn't figure it out. He has experience with a wide variety of movements (heck, he even got the chronograph of my Cal.12 running again), but the 7750 (especially the Asian version) gives him huge headaches. Ideally, I would like to return all three movements to DW, but his current level of communication is much flakier than usual. Is there a trick to deconstructing the A7750 that I can relay to my watch guy, or is this a much harder job than DW implied?
  15. Couldn't we commission some mercenaries to hijack a shipment of Russian nuclear warheads, just so we could scrape out the sweet, sweet tritium inside?
  16. EMS is no longer recommended. Unfortunately, you may not have any other option. Since I wrote my last post in this thread, the odds of receiving an EMS shipment at your home have dropped from 80% to about 10%. More likely, you will have to claim the package from the EMS office at the domestic airport, where you will be subjected to long waits (1-2 hours) and arbitrary requirements (such as photocopying your ID) from the customs agents. At the end of your ordeal, you'll be lucky to pay less than P1000. Someone, somewhere, has decided that there's money to be made from EMS, and doesn't care if the only fast and reliable method of shipping into this country is ruined.
  17. I have a cheapie bridge set from DW, and... You get what you pay for. The chronograph bridge is OK at a glance, but quickly falls apart under loupe-level scrutiny. I took some pictures that you can see on my FAP 6239 thread.
  18. This is a different RWG. More attention to detail, less drama.
