  1. It's a growing industry, but you have to deal with a lot of pr1cks.
  2. wat44: I think you're confused by the "Paul Newman" nomenclature, which only refers to the exotic dials e.g. the second one in the OP, or ugoderosa's. Unfortunately and confusingly, a lot of people use "Paul Newman" as shorthand for any manual-wind Daytona. The two you posted are variants of the standard dial, which is only available in black or silver.
  3. It's progress. At least Steve isn't threatening violence on whoever made it!
  4. There's real progress in those pictures. Great work! Those zig-zag lines remind me of Charlie Brown's shirt.
  5. Setting aside the rarity, the controversy over its authenticity, and the matter of the five zeroes... I find the color scheme unpleasant. There, I said it!
  6. R, you finally finished the ROO? Spectacular... and alarmingly big! I was toying with the idea of ordering a Diver, but now I'm not so sure. Something a little smaller, at just under 39mm:
  7. Sheesh, I thought this was a sales listing and I was 1) Looking for the price, and 2) About to ask why on Earth you'd want to sell it! Congratulations! If Ronin had a hand in it and it's had a brush with a Ubi, then you've got excellent pedigree right there.
  8. Well... The important thing is that redwatch has a nice hammock.
  9. I'm going to assume it's a go. Nice hammock, red!
  10. Shucks... You took the words right out of my mouth!
  11. Superb group effort! I hope you follow through with the engravings. Remember: We're going to be looking at it, too!
  12. Think of it as a "semi-automatic"!
  13. I remember that! Now, the big question is what comes next?
  14. I hope someone here can chime in and suggest a good watchsmith in your part of Texas. After everything you've poured into it, it's a shame to let a bit of friction suck all the enjoyment out of an otherwise terrific watch. I'm currently having a similar problem with my franken Datejust. It doesn't seize up at midnight, but the date change is rough. The numbers come up misaligned, and I end up having to adjust it manually. It feels like I'm twisting the V-HOLD nobb* on an old TV set! Anyhow, I'm still working out how to fix it, but that doesn't stop me from wearing it during the day. Don't give up! *intentionally misspelled, because the "k-word" is censored here!
  15. Beautiful! I love the height of the markers on that dial.
  16. Starting the week with El Peruano:
  17. SECOND ADDENDUM In the OP, I mentioned how I regretted not being able to take a clear shot of the cases in profile. I'd like to rectify that now. Lightning strikes twice, and I saw Mr. 6263 at my watchsmith's again. I had my camera but not my Daytonas so a direct comparison under similar lightning isn't possible. I did try to match the angles when I got home, though. Gen at bottom: It's worth noting the slightly higher crown and pusher positions on the gen. The thinner mid-section is also easier to detect in the low-angle shots. The lighting of the rep shots makes the bezel lip look thinner than it really is. If you look at pictures in the OP, the DW bezel is a near-exact match to the gen in profile. Compare it with the thin-rimmed bezel on dmacnz's cartel 6263. Gen on right: As previously mentioned, the lug tips on the gen are wider. Surprisingly, the DW is too thick on the crown side, yet too thin on the right. Finally, if you're wondering why the rep 6263 has a straight-brushed finish... It was a poorly researched mod! Of course, a gen owner may have had a watchsmith brush the caseback for whatever reason, but it's something that's generally seen more on 6262s and 6264s. As always, there are no hard rules when it comes to vintage Rolex.
  18. REALLY nice dial, J! Wet Sunday here, but I've got the Sub back. Now with Twinlock:
  19. Very straightforward, but then, the only Yuki parts used were a tube and a bracelet.
  20. Russian blue... and silver, black, and a bit of orange:
  21. Thanks for the additional comments, all! I'd been missing this one, since my watchsmith has been working on it since Monday. Now it's back with a serviced Sears-Roebuck, and -someone call Pat Robertson- I've finally joined the 700 Club! New additions: Yuki tube and 7mm Twinlock:
  22. Growing up, the cool brand was TAG-Heuer and Rolex was a cliché worn by old men and poseurs. So either my tastes have become more refined, or...
  23. My word, look at all these big watches! Et tu, jmb? After all the work you put into that dial, it's perfectly understandable! Something smaller from me:
  24. Kumiko bought it for him from Honpo! It looks OK to me.
