  1. Yes, I got an SS rep based on photos taken straight on but the rep is much thicker and larger than the gen and misses that beautiful curvature of dial and glass. I was very disappointed with it and haven't really worn it since I saw a gen.
  2. I found some photos of an original, I can see differences on the dial, crown, back and bezel insert but the overall effect is good. I'm always glad to see a new vintage rep. A little ageing makes all the difference, plus, who's really going to know all the variations that were available 40 years ago. I think I'd try it on a mildly beaten up watchadoo bracelet, or on leather.
  3. Maybe the first 2, I'm not as familiar with them. I _think_ the Moonwatch has had a few different case backs in it's lifetime and the Daniels Co-Axial movement came in more recently, with associated text changes on the dial.
  4. Does this model take regular ground coffee or those espresso capsules?
  5. It's his watch, he paid for it. I see a difference between modding a new Gen and modding a vintage one. Pimping a classic Mercedes is wrong because it destroys the patina and originality of the car but getting AMG or whoever to go mad on a new one is fine. Taking a 6538A Sub and PVD coating it would be shameful but it's fine to do it to a new Sub, Rolex can always make more of those. This mod is exactly like ordering a Pro-Hunter (plus or minus some taste).
  6. I'm just curious - what watches are currently in production unchanged for the longest time? I know there are long lived names and styles but todays Rolex Submariner has changed a lot from that of even the 1980's - can you think of any that haven't?
  7. engraved logo? Forgive me for dragging an old thread back but it addresses a question I have. I vaguely remember seeing photos of 2 rep cases, one having the breitling wings logo engraved somewhere on the side of the bezel near the top and the other not. Is that true for either of these? Do you have photos showing how it should look? thanks in advance
  8. OK, was wondering what had happened but didn't have access to the forum for a while (work proxy)
  9. Hi - I was looking for a quartz moonwatch rep and browsing Omega Speedie Pro's when I saw the abomination unique style of the Omega Speedmaster Pro X-33 (which I understand they've discontinued for some reason. Has anyone bought one, or reviewed a rep against gen?
  10. Looking at Milanese Straps I wonder which of them is the best match to the factory Breitling meshes? I'd guess one of the heavy mesh, shiny steel but it's hard to tell without a side by side comparison.
  11. PHEW: It arrived yesterday in the post - no bits falling off and it keeps reasonable time. As mentioned it's not high beat which is a shame but I'm just glad to get anything at this stage. I just adjusted the bracelet and will wear it as is for a few weeks before picking a strap. Thanks for everyones contributions.
  12. I saw this on the bay, thought it might be a Cortebert
  13. UPDATE: Sent the watch to Josh a month ago and tracking says it reached China 3 weeks back but Josh says he hasn't received it yet
  14. UPDATE: it's not high beat; "This watch is not 28800bph.. It is 21600bph.. It used to be 28800bph.. Sorry ..I forgotten to update the website..." Which is disappointing but I can live with it for the price. He's changed the website so at least no-one else will make that mistake. It arrived with a loose marker at the 5 o'clock (the little white "lume" had fallen out) so I've sent it back for a replacement. One the strap front, I'm toying with the idea of a milanese (mesh) strap or maybe that hirsch carbon like Kyle. The reason is the International Watchman only take US bank checks or transfers which is a bit of a hassle if you're not in the US. I may also go for a black leather with white stitching since I can't see any other nice crocodile straps at a good price.
  15. Hi, Are there any modern watches still using acrylic crystals? I think Oris do for their dress watches. Can anyone think of any divers watches which haven't gone to sapphire/glass? As well as gens, any good reps with this feature? I'm looking for a real tool watch which can take some bangs and a nice thick plexi crystal appeals. thanks
  16. I think it's an older Wenger model. My wife has one from Canada that also doesn't have the Wenger name. There is/was some trademark dispute with a Quebec firm called Wenger.
  17. @ Kyle L : The Carbon looks great - it's the same white stitching/black strap look I'm aiming for too, to compliment the dial colours @ Alligoat : I agree, on the vintage, the brown works better @ numptyj (et al) : I ordered because it said high beat and because Josh has a good reputation. If it's not then I'll try to track down a movement to swop in.
