  1. Back home!

I've had an amazing trip to HK. And I got an express visa, so I had trip into Shenzhen for some replica shopping. Couldn't find watches in our usual quality, but still god reps. Didn't buy any watches, instead I bought a nice LV wallet.

Thanks for the replies! Now I'll contact PT for a PloProf

I had a case that took me to Paris, so I decided to buy my wife a LV purse. While at LV, they had a wallet I couldn't resist - I never in my life ran a wallet thru the laundry, but this thing has made the trip twice! No ill effects though.

Which rep wallet did you buy?

  2. Now, to even more confuse me, I found a picture of a 5512 gilt dial.

What is the difference between a 5512 and a 5513?

Anyway, this looks like the dial.

So maybe it's an MBW 5512 gilt dial with the military bezel I put on it.

    This nonsense is soooooo confusing.

  3. This first pic is from the official Rolex web site of the military 5513. The hands aren't right, but the text says they are extremely rare so I guess they used the hands they had.

The second is the standard 5513 from the Rolex site.

The third is the guilt dial version from the Rolex site (they used someone else's picture) - I think that's this dial because the lettering (all of it) is yellow, not white like every other MBW I have here. Also, now that I see the word, I remember that it was suggested that a get a guilt dial in something so I guess this was it.

So, my guess is MBW guilt dial 5513 with a military style bezel that I put on it.

That would explain that watch. I'd sure welcome a bonafide WIS opinion though.

  4. I would guess somewhere around 60-70 bucks each, . I am interested in the 5512 case!

I've been trying to let go of MBWs I have duplicates of. If it turns out that I have two different MBW versions of the no date sub, I'm not going to be anxious to sell it.

This is the bezzel assembly common to both.

  5. I also notice that the bracelet on the 5512 is the solid link like the MBW - and it fits perfect. Even with the Rollie springbars, it installs instantly and fits perfectly. Both are identical with 455B end links.

I always thought the 5512 was an MBW, but it doesn't look like the one on the left.

Somebody straighten me out here please.

  6. I've got a couple of watches I cannot identify - a Comex and a No Date Sub.

    Both have Swiss 2836

Both have gen style bezel assembly's

    Both have 2mm lugs

Both have Registered Design between the lugs

I have MBW versions of each and these don't look the same to me

I never bought one of the MBW Cartel copies so these aren't them either

The Chinese vintage Rollies had weird bezel assemblies - these are just like the MBWs

I'm going to let them go cheap (if I cannot identify them), but it would help if I knew what they are, and what they are worth.

If someone wants one of them, email me at TJGladeRaider@aol.com

  7. I wanted a 1665 originally but it didn't work out... I elected to go with the 1680 to make it a project. I'll be happier when I get it just right!

    Ben,

I think you should say, "Didn't work out "yet."

You have turned out to be such a dedicated addict, and wound up everyone with your enthusiasm, I have set that spare Ziggied MBW DRSD that I didn't want to price aside for you. Since I'd still have a single red, double red, COMEX, white 1680, no date sub, Milgauss, etc., I'll vicariously enjoy watching you make it all it could have been if I had been willing to be castrated by my Colombian.

It will be in my watchbox with your name on it if/when you're ready!

  8. I agree,to Ignore would be best, the problem Is I dont always act In the best manor. :D If I were to have a gen on my wrist and some A hole tried to embarrass me,I would tell him to put up or shut up. I would bet him a $1000.00 that it was Indeed the genuine article,we would go to a AD to prove me wrong. If it's a fake, then A hole Is a $1000.00 richer,If It's real, happy days. :1a: It's win win either way. Even if he fefuses to except your wager,he walks away looking quite the fool, nice.:) Mike (ps) Make sure that you are 100% sure that your gen is a gen. :pardon:

I'm sure I stole this from someone here, but it bears repeating. The all time best response to, "Is it real," is: "I dunno, I took it off a dead guy."

    I love that!

  9. I had an interesting moment today; I was called out by “expert” who gave me lot of solid arguments in order to prove that my Pam is fake… Bad print on a dial, bad lum, and extremely bad CB all the signs of a bad rep. his conclusion was that it’s a 50 dollar rep street rep. then I offer him to buy it off me for 100 dollars. “No way that I would give 5 dollars for it” that was his response. O well; he just walked away from once in a life time deal to buy Gen 64c for 100 dollars. All this happened in front of other people and that is the funny part. This is my first call out ever!

I don’t know about you guys but I feel way better around rep crew then around gen watch owners.

I'm curious - was he judging you, or the watch?

To me, and probably because I am not a WIS, I think the most obvious "tells" are the bigger picture. I was sitting next to a guy at a bar a while back who was bragging up his Planet Ocean. I don't claim to be able to distinguish one from the other with a magnifying glass (and maybe not then), but I don't think people who buy expensive watches brag them up, the guy was a slob with bad teeth who apparently cuts his own hair, his clothes looked like Sears & Roebuck, and his old shoes had never seen polish. As for the watch, all I can say is I would have expected to see some lume glow in a darkened bar. To my amateur eye, my PO rep looks every bit as good.

Maybe it was a gen, but if he'd offered it to me for $100, I'd have passed. I meant to take note of his car when he left, but I missed it.

It seems to me that most people aren't going to believe you are wearing an expensive gen if you drive a Yugo and live in a trailer with your Mom; on the other hand, who'd question the watch of the guy driving the Lamborghini.

  10. I'm so thrilled to have found this forum! While I'm certainly not the connoisseur that most of you seem to be, I absolutely love watches.

I've bought a few reps from online sites, and while they look good initially, they never seem to last.

I just bought my first watch from Joshua, and I'm looking forward to buying some PAMs from him soon!

Can't wait for the first one to arrive, thanks for all the amazing information.

  11. Ubi is Ubiquitous, the long time forum member who is one of the most advanced watch modders around. He mostly only works on his own watches, and is not considered to be a modder-for-hire.

Also, he's one of the nicest people you'll ever run into anywhere.

  12. Ah, the Mirage III, it's certainly one of my favorites.

    rsz_p1000199-copy.jpg

When I broke a pusher, I sent it back to Howard at West Coast Time.

For a service of a 7750 here in the USA, I would figure $250-300, plus parts- any qalified watchmaker should be up to it.

    Where'd you get my watch!

That's exactly as mine looks - I much prefer that band than the black one although it would seem that black should go better with it.

    Bill

  13. A list member offered me $100 for this dial. It came with a new MBW as an alternative but I don't know what it should be worth.

I'll sell it to him, unless he's not getting a good deal.

There's no crapping on this thread - if it isn't fair to him, I want to know.

    Thanks so much

  14. Very sad sorry, poor little darling watch! :(

    I'm afraid it's a goner.

I have a Swiss Eternal Ticking Grounds Watch Burying Service! You can send it to me, I'll take care of it for free! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Come on, send to Uncle Val! B)

    Val.

I'd love to give it to you, but just as sure as I did, someone would come along saying they'd have traded me a sweet 2893 powered PAM -- you don't happen to have something like that lying about?

    Bill

  15. I would contact Howard at westcoasttime. He brings all the O&W into the states and knows his stuff.

Y'know, my old brain jes don't work - I dealt with Howard at WestCoastTime before on some other O&W watches.

I have a message out to Ziggy, but if he doesn't want to mess with it, and we don't have another list guy who does good work, I'll reach out to Howard.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  16. I have a gen Ollech & Wajs Mirage III I got directly from Al Wajs years ago. The rotor came off and I found that the screw was sheered off. It's a day/date and the day function doesn't cycle right either.

This is a really nice watch, the Lume is incredible, and I see this watch for sale at $1700 on the net. Can anybody give me an idea what this would cost to fix? Shame to have it just lying in a watch drawer.

  17. TJ the mbk had a short run of A serial 16610 cases with lug holes likely your 16610s with holes are TWB

I know for sure I bought an MBW Sub, but you are probably right - I bought a LOT of TWB and I am not at all sure what happened to that MBW. I have a suspicion that my oldest son took it off to the Marines I gave him one and it would have been my best. My favorite subs are TWBs - two with lug holes and one without. My favorite SDs are TWBs - two with lug holes and one without.

What is the current WIS thinking on these TWB subs and sds? What are they worth these days if I decide to let a couple go?? Anybody know?

    Thanks

    Bill

  18. nothing wrong with it, only thing is that i don't want to wait till bk can sell one. last info was that he is not able to deliver since he had problems with the dials.

so i am looking for the watch it self and not preminilary for the bk modded one. i asked hont few weeks ago but he was telling me that he can' t deliver since he is out of stock. if you have a source for me where i can get a tw best i would be happy.

I have an MBW version of the modern 16610 sub. My problem is, I have so many versions of the 16610 I am not absolutely sure which on it is.

Could it have come with lug holes?

The TW Best Subs make this confusing for me.

Anyone want to tell me how I might focus in on it for sure?

    Bill
