  1. You're missing a lot!

    Hands

    Stem

    Crown

    Tube

Right movement spacer (impossible to get so you probably have to make it yourself)

And in the end you will still have a majorly flawed PO.....

You should better do some more reading and learning before starting such a project ;)

Thanks.. I did more research, and it's not worth the trouble.

The next REP is gonna be based on an ETA clone... In the mean time, I'm waiting for the PO, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as it is.

  2. I did a little research, tell me if I'm correct.

If I want to upgrade this watch I'll need to get:

    1. A 2824-2 movement.

    2. A white on black date wheel that would fit that movement.

    3. A gen dial, cause the POrikaa dial has a wrong placed date hole.

Am I right, or am I missing something?

  3. Forget about it!

    Read this.

The thread you linked to isn't about the stuff I've mentioned. They're talking there about replacing the movement. I don't want to touch it at all, IMO the 21j movement in the POrikaa is good enough.

What I can gather from that thread is that I probably can't swap the dial to a gen or a better REP without changing the movement with it. I don't want to change the dial, only the logo. I've seen that its possible.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

  4. This nice REP is on the way, but I want to make it closer to a gen.

From the pics I've seen, the major flaws that bother me are:

    - bezel: the pearl is too low, and not centered like the gens.

    - dial: the "clown feet" logo, and font.

    - HE valve size.

    - AR quality.

Obviously, there are more flaws, but these are the ones that bother me the most.

I think I can solve the bezel flaw, by getting this:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bezel-Insert-For-Ome...93%3A1|294%3A50

Its not gen, but looks much better than the Narikaa's PO IMO. What do you think about it?

The AR can be solved by using Chief's service, does anybody know, if he sells AR coated crystals without me sending him my own?

The HE valve is tricky. Anyone know a solution?

The dial is another problem, I couldn't find good REP dials (like the bezel), and the gen costs way too much. Any ideas there?

Thanks a lot, I'm looking forward to a nice project, upgrading this REP.

  5. Check out the 40mm Omega speedmaster date, 7750 based chrono. It's a sleeper super rep...

I'm refering to the POs. I didn't look into other models, but heared that the simpler models like railmaster and others are better REPed.

Well. First they have no motivation to fix things that can't be seen without a loupe. Second, the rep forums are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. A few guys running around looking for the perfect Sub are not high on their priority list. :p

I wasn't talking about the things you need a loupe to see, but the things that you can spot from a distance, and were never fixed for some reason: The logo, the pearl location, the markers' font, etc... I've seen Reps that fixed one of the major flaws, but never seen one that fixed all of them.

How do we know that many of the used watches on the market are not 100% 1:1 reps ?

They have the ability and technology to do so. If one person can produce an item then somebody else with as much skill can do the same.

Keep the slightly flawed reps as the usual bread and butter items.

Because eventually, some of them would've surface as a good REP, and sell at these forums.

  6. I simply can't find the reason why not one factory has managed to make an acurate REP by now.

We all know the inaccuracies of the UPO and the 42mm POs, and even as a noob I can now spot a fake straight away.

I know the reason can't be financial, 95% of those inaccuracies won't cost a penny to fix, and the remaining 5% (mainly the Saphire AR crystal) would return the cost with huge interest easily.

The first dealer that would offer a perfect copy, even with a mediocre build quality, would sell hundrends of watches immediately, so the profit would be fast and easy.

    What am I missing here?

  7. Just to add some impressions.

I'm a total noob in the Rep world, started only looking into it a few days ago. It was very hard at first to filter the good sites from the bad ones. If you google Replica watches, you'll mostly find online stores of a somewhat questionable reliability. I've browsed the web a few hours, and almost gave up before I found RWI at first and RWG later, and what a find. I've always imagined that people involved in this business are of certain type, and not the one you want as friends. I was dead wrong, this forum and RWI are amazing, kind and good folks, true reviews, helpful, etc...

If only they were easier to find.......

  8. Just ordered my very first REP. Good and fast communication, no problems so far.

Honestly, I don't really know what to expect from REPs.. I was pondering between this and a gen. Citizen that cost twice as much, but definitely with much better quality...

I hope that I made the right choice, but can also assume that this is only the beginning of my affair with REPs...
