I don't know what makes it official. But POST funny/interesting/awesome videos here. I need to waste time =) I'll start: First, a video by IWC of the spitfire chronograph. It's so funny the guy was selling it said to a pilot's face, "You don't deserve it". vicious dog man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1irKe-xNv8&feature=player_embedded#!

Wow, you scared me there because I bought a gen insert on the bay 2 months ago. but I don't see a difference either. This is from a Y series and your pic

The truth? I quit ebaying. It's too damn stressful. As for my budget, I'm a premed with loans, so it's virtually zero (or negative?). I could buy one rep per two years at best? And If I had the chance to buy it for cheap (say a gen dial), I would try to find the "Buy it now" button (which never existed for items below market price). And for auctions, if it gets more than 50 dollars (or I think would go more than 50), I would give up (hence me "was not" bidding $150, go wayyy over budget). If it's less than $50, I would be like "no way it's going to stay there" because of a feature called "saved searches" or that "it's fake". I have this paranoid thought in the back of my mind when I'm bidding, say when I'm bidding $45 for a gen dial: "all RWG knows" or "that other guy bidding with me probably has a job so...". That's my problem: I can never get a bargain. Would you consider a $300 dollar part selling for $120 a bargain? Not me. I don't care for a bargain, I want the item, which I cannot get. Ebaying will make me go crazy! Those items I posted were all the items on my watch list on ebay because I give up ebaying, even for that $23 SOSF dial with one day left. And thought it would be nice for others to know the items and make a point at the same time. Also, I don't need to look good around here either, why should I? And for that NOS Rolex insert I won, I actually bid $78 when the previous guy was bidding $76. I did it for fun because I estimated it would go ~$100 (damn it). When I won that item, I was like "WTF I won? [censored], I don't even have a rolex rep." T_T I need a summer job in order to get a rolex.

Most of the ongoing auctions items were sold before by the same seller, and he's pretty popular. By that, I mean that the previous (same item, same seller) bids were my estimate. And you know that the second time around, it's expected to go for more. The rolex bracelet however, has zero chance for selling less than $150 (I was about to bid that high). But I realized, it would go over my budget. Besides, if I post ongoing auction, it would be more fair. And those items are highly coveted by AP, VC and Breitling fans on the forum so I thought I'd share. oh and that 2824 movement seems like a bargain.

I mean, there's snipers everywhere, gen items here and there, Tis one day before the auction ends, and with your wife you shall make amends, Because on that day, the war of bids will lead to your joy and your dismay, All that frenzy, thou shall not go with the crazies, Victory at a cost, for that item you want the most. Signed Praetor- the bored poet. On topic: I was ebaying the past few weeks, and only won 1 item because I'm cheap. It's a NOS rolex submariner insert for ~78 dollars. But I realized after the bid was over that this was the one with the flat 4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250604192461&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT But as for listings that ended, those people went nuts over this omega speedmaster cal 321. movement. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290418876915&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT As for the other items, These are the ones that you just know that its going to shoot up by $150-200 in 1 day. I quit ebaying, I'm too poor to ebay with these fanatics. 1) Nos Breitling SOSF dial: (est ~150), current $36 with one day left http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110513221517&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT 2) 2824-2 movement without date wheel: (he has 5 of them posted) (est ~$70) current ~$33 with 1 day left http://cgi.ebay.com/New-conditions-ETA-2824-2-top-finitions-movement-25j_W0QQitemZ110513224787QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19bb19fc53 3)NOS modern Rolex oyster submariner bracelet (authenticity: high chance of being authentic). current: $20, est. ~$250- $400. Days Left: 5 days. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110516093685&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT 4)Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore dial. Current ~$160 (est. $240-300) http://cgi.ebay.com/Fantastic-NOS-Audemars-Piguet-Royal-Oak-dial-cadran_W0QQitemZ110513219595QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item19bb19e80b 5)Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dial. Is this steelfish black or blue on youtube? I'm confused. heh, I've been using youtube a lot lately to get the feel of the rep watches
-
The pendulum will be repped with a hairspring of course! TBH, I would rather see the 1887 carrera repped with a blue column wheel like the gen.
-
ubi, you have an amazing collection =) I actually grew to like the 16520 daytona because of your sig.

Wow -expensive TAG replicas - Good or Bad?
praetor replied to castlemountain's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
It has the exact same case, dial and hands as the A7750. Better to do the movement swap yourself. -
What do you think of my plan for my collection? can you guys suggest any good IWC watches?
-
yea, I agree, the dial printing is terrible. but the concept is awesome. I hate the new maxi dial and the beefy lugs on the newer ones.
-
Found a franken on ebay: well, technically franken by his description ebay link
-
link It's weird that the dial is too light for the blue and that the bracelet is the standard bond SMP bracelet. what do you think?

Introduction This is my first replica watch, thanks RWG! I bought this at Josh for about 350 including shipping. And being a student that doesn't even own an mp3 player, this is one big purchase;I probably won't buy another rep until next year. But compared to the watches I found in ShenZhen, my Tag Heuer was a big improvement. I was hunting for an Omega SMP rep and found that they have crappy dials, low beat movements, super greenish lume, wrong CG, but surprisingly aligned bezels. The Review Josh's website claimed that they made this watch with genuine as sample and this is questionable. If you compare the Gen and rep side by side there's some noticeable differences. 1) Notice the subdial rings in the 12 o'clock position and in the 6 o'clock. The colour of the rep's ring is black to almost dark blue whereas the gen is light gray. 2) There are concentric circles in the subdials themselves, where there are none on the gen 3) One of the inner rings in the gen is painted, where the rep in the inner ring is polished (correct for the black dial version) 4) The numerals (I've seen the gen in person) is matte titanium-ish colour. The rep is polished stainless steel. 5) The date window is darker. 6) The Tag Heuer badge doesn't have an arrow on the "G" on the rep 7) Notice there's an extra marking in the Bezel, in between the "Tachymetre" and 60. (no extra mark on the black dial version) THE REP STRAP SUCKS ASS. It's stiff, fake-looking and just plain bad. 9) If you look at my pictures below, the rep dial is gray 90% of the time depending on the type of light (sunlight is best for a white dial), since the dial is like a diffused mirror. But in the Gen, it looks like that white in the pic, pure awsomeness.. 10)They used blue screws for the movement, it should be silver. 11)The crown is not screw down as advertised. 12) they engraved my serial # above the words "crystal", where it should be above the word "carrera". 13) I want my money back and buy that SMP from silix OK, so you're probably desperate to see the pics: well here you go: caption: 90% of the time!!! especially in TTC subway light. (self note: change strap) caption: When the dial is grey 90% of the time, my desk light adds a yellow tint to the dial 45% of the time. caption: The white elusive dial, but it's still grayish in my eye, the camera made it look that way! It's only in the sunlight where it's possible. Why is white dial so good? because it's elegant, and it's something that you just want to staaaare at for hours. Whereas silver is distracting and if it's yellowish, it's something you want to throw away. Oh and one more pic: caption: how I wish my strap looks like, and I also like how the screws are non-cheesy blue If only the dial looks white 90% of the time, I'd be happy. The rest are minor cosmetic details, They actually got the design of the watch absolutely perfect if you don't consider the font, the badge and the bezel. Well anyways Thanks for reading, I just feel like I had to say something before the next guy buys this watch thinking "OMG 95% GEN like!", it's more like 75%! The black version on the other hand, is 85%

The news is discouraging though. I've been shopping around Hong Kong for about a month now for about everything. And the reps I found on streets like Fa Yuen st. in mong kok that were displayed were cheap $30 HK swiss army and CK reps. And for the higher end model reps, there are people who sit on stools with catalogs and basically you pick one and then they fetch it for you. Some of them may be good, but generally bad, I don't know, I've not dealt with the ones in Hong Kong since I'm scared of the police. But the ones in Lo Wu... I don't think it's the same anymore. It's an interesting thing they've done. For the displays, they put the cases and bracelets of the reps, but the dials they've changed it to some unknown never seen or heard of brand. And you would still have to order from a catalog. These watches fetch for 375 to 450 yuan. And after hard bargaining, I think you can lower it to say 200? But yea, they would hassle you with "best quality and lowest price!" or "just like original" or "a special discount for you". They probably have all the quartz models out there, like this one my friend bought: http://www.jpc8118.com/tgca10156-grand-car...ono-p-6503.html but you can really tell since there's no AR, way too shiny. But I was hunting for an SMP in Lo Wu, they tried to sell me the new model, was sort of interested, they had the red seamaster above the hands not below (which is correct), the bezel was aligned , crown guards are ok (not so good), cheap feeling bracelet, an "automatic", the dial color was off (for the new model), pearl was terrible, and have a something is not right about that bezel and hands because they're so inaccurate. All for 450 yuan. But is it a waste of money to spend on something like this? or is it worth it to make a franken model after getting an accurate watch? Well, I didn't get it because the point of having a replica is that people won't spot it from 30 ft away.
