AGREE - considering the gen is $185USD, I've no clue why people opt for AP bands. Give AP Clearwater a call.
well spotted never noticed that ... yes looking for a white strap as we speak ... but not the off white from ap bands !!!
-
Significant difference in the blue tones. The gen's rehaut/numerals have an incredible pop under sunlight. Also, an easy tell I only noticed in a side-by-side comparo .. the center pivot point of hour/minute hands are larger in diameter vs. rep.
Order a gen white strap for the summer!

Awesome! Congrats!
here is a teaser pic .. will upload the rest as soon as i get back !!!

Assuming box and papers included, anything under £12k is a steal. Love mine - I say go for it!

with the gen strap...
no high quality shots though
Glad you're enjoying, Edgematic. Round off the pushers and call it a day!

Looks great mate!

I'm looking at my options now. jacobstraps.com looks very nice, but I really want the teal stitching to be right, and I don't know if he can do that without a watch sample in hand.
Even the gen AP Montauk straps have at least 2 color variations. My original stitch color was more of a sky blue (absolutely not due to fading); whereas 2 other Montauks I've spotted were turquoise. I'm a fan of both.

Are those GEN AP straps??
Both look so delicious!!! Will surely look amazing on that watch.
Where did you get them custom made? Only reason I ask is because I would really like a custom short strap if I ever manage to get my hands on the Monatuk replica
Indeed .. they're gen. 11 weeks in the making.

Just discovered this marvellous post I don´t know why I hadn´t seen it....
Thx Daytona!
Ha .. glad you enjoyed.
I'm currently fighting the itch for a gen Deepsea. Picked up a BK rep, and it's awesome .. but nothing beats the real deal.

Date wheel's a big tell .. inverted black/white on Gen.

Fellas, if your manhood lies in the color of your watchstrap, I feel for you.
Vouching first-hand (that's my wrist w/the Montauk), the white strap elicits many a stranger's compliment - often females, but also non-WIS folks who know nothing of the brand.
-
.. by the prevalence of rep ebay auctions taking advantage of fools. What I do respect amongst the RWG crew is the strive for perfection/accuracy, but blazon ripping-off gets under my skin.
Sorry - had to rant.

Does anyone know if the metal surrounding the hands, the numbers, and the subdials are gold or silver? In some pictures, they look gold, but in others they look silver, Daytonaboy, what say you since you have the gen.
Cheers!!!
Subdial surrounds and hands are bronze / rose gold colored.

Yes I also think it would be very different in colour then what is shown in your pics.
I almost pulled the trigger on the GP AP carbon as an investment, use for a year or so then sell but I backed out, now I regret due to I think it will be going for a huge extra on the second hand market.
Enjoy it bro, looks damn good on white rubber, I would try it on white hornback whit light blue stitching also
Unless you'd opportunity to pick up a GP @ retail, think you did the right thing. Having witnessed some very tattered daily-worn Team Alinghis, I'm not convinced of forged carbon durability. Unlike SS or Ti, there's no opportunity to refinish.
Hornbacks are fun, but render case cleaning a PITA. Once they're wet, they fall apart. $520 a pop.

It is a surprise how poorly gen strap plots seem to fit - they look very loose.
But surely a great watch overall!
The tolerances are actually very tight. If you're referring to the "gaps" above each plot, this space allows the strap to pivot further outwards and exhibits no slop/play.

Nice girl and watch
I like this watch the more i see it, strange thing whit AP watches they seem to need a grow period for the eyes.
Cheers,
D
Very true. I purchased sight unseen, expecting a teal/turquoise as rendered in official promo pics/press.
The true "sky blue" didn't initially appeal, but really grew on me once worn outside. Almost "glows" in the sunlight.

Yeah great looks....appears like a time-out at the pool in the Hamptons....have you been to the launch party with London-Jewelers for this MH?
I think it looks way nicer with the white rubber, cheers

Perhaps just the pics, but appears some of your bezel's hex bolts' rubber gaskets have squished through. I noticed the same issue on my rep Silver Themes - becomes evident under magnification. I wound up carefully tracing the perimeter of each hex w/a sharp needle. Effectively trimming the excess rubber which appeared as gaps/poor machining at first glance.
-
looks great on the white strap - I think I already said that when you posted the pictures with the Hornback over on TZ
cheers

Hey, WR -
Indeed, guessing much like yourself, proud to contribute in both worlds. I'd honestly feel blind not being part of the RWG community.
Funny how owning a rep often leads to a gen purchase. I was content w/my gen Rubberclad for 7 yrs, then had an itch for a rep 09 Silver Themes, which lead to a gen 09 Themes, which lead to a gen Montauk and 09 Ti Themes. : )
