  1. AGREE - considering the gen is $185USD, I've no clue why people opt for AP bands. Give AP Clearwater a call.
  2. Significant difference in the blue tones. The gen's rehaut/numerals have an incredible pop under sunlight. Also, an easy tell I only noticed in a side-by-side comparo .. the center pivot point of hour/minute hands are larger in diameter vs. rep. Order a gen white strap for the summer!
  3. Assuming box and papers included, anything under £12k is a steal. Love mine - I say go for it!
  4. Glad you're enjoying, Edgematic. Round off the pushers and call it a day!
  5. Even the gen AP Montauk straps have at least 2 color variations. My original stitch color was more of a sky blue (absolutely not due to fading); whereas 2 other Montauks I've spotted were turquoise. I'm a fan of both.
  6. Indeed .. they're gen. 11 weeks in the making.
  7. For those interested, I will be listing a gen Montauk strap over the weekend. Condition is 95/100 and is standard length. If you are interested, send me a PM asap - it wont last long. Retail is $685. I would prefer to sell within CONUS.
  8. Doubt they'd ever come close to replicating the cerulean blue. I do like the brown .. here's a pic w/a local jeweler's panamera turbo in a full AP vinyl job.
  9. Can wait to post pics of the custom hornbacks from Clearwater (10 week wait). Meantime, white rubber's back on.
  10. Ha .. glad you enjoyed. I'm currently fighting the itch for a gen Deepsea. Picked up a BK rep, and it's awesome .. but nothing beats the real deal.
  11. Date wheel's a big tell .. inverted black/white on Gen.
  12. Fellas, if your manhood lies in the color of your watchstrap, I feel for you. Vouching first-hand (that's my wrist w/the Montauk), the white strap elicits many a stranger's compliment - often females, but also non-WIS folks who know nothing of the brand.
  13. .. by the prevalence of rep ebay auctions taking advantage of fools. What I do respect amongst the RWG crew is the strive for perfection/accuracy, but blazon ripping-off gets under my skin. Sorry - had to rant.
  14. Subdial surrounds and hands are bronze / rose gold colored.
  15. Unless you'd opportunity to pick up a GP @ retail, think you did the right thing. Having witnessed some very tattered daily-worn Team Alinghis, I'm not convinced of forged carbon durability. Unlike SS or Ti, there's no opportunity to refinish. Hornbacks are fun, but render case cleaning a PITA. Once they're wet, they fall apart. $520 a pop.
  16. The tolerances are actually very tight. If you're referring to the "gaps" above each plot, this space allows the strap to pivot further outwards and exhibits no slop/play.
  17. Very true. I purchased sight unseen, expecting a teal/turquoise as rendered in official promo pics/press. The true "sky blue" didn't initially appeal, but really grew on me once worn outside. Almost "glows" in the sunlight.
  18. Yes, and that's my la Perla GF @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_zZqxzWiIo.
  19. A lame iPhone pic on black strap. With the black pushers, the combo actually works.
  20. AmStaFF - Perhaps just the pics, but appears some of your bezel's hex bolts' rubber gaskets have squished through. I noticed the same issue on my rep Silver Themes - becomes evident under magnification. I wound up carefully tracing the perimeter of each hex w/a sharp needle. Effectively trimming the excess rubber which appeared as gaps/poor machining at first glance.
  21. Hey, WR - Indeed, guessing much like yourself, proud to contribute in both worlds. I'd honestly feel blind not being part of the RWG community. Funny how owning a rep often leads to a gen purchase. I was content w/my gen Rubberclad for 7 yrs, then had an itch for a rep 09 Silver Themes, which lead to a gen 09 Themes, which lead to a gen Montauk and 09 Ti Themes. : )
