  1. There's tales on the gen boards of people leaving a watch under a table lamp to charge the lume up and forgetting that the watch is there, and gone back to find the lume going/gone/damaged etc

Obviously depending on the length of time its exposed, the wattage of the light, and the proximity to the watch - but yes the lume can get toasted.

  2. I took my BK GMT Transformer and went a bit further with it so I could use some gen parts, but as has been said above the gen Explorer 2's and 16710's are very doable in price terms, relatively speaking. I won't go any further with it as the money would be best put into getting a gen.

  3. Maybe you boys in Oz could share info between each other on this subject, surely somebody must know a watch smith that works on gens that may want a little extra moolah.

I think Vac, BK, Rex and PB (and any others that I haven't worked with) aren't bad for us boys Stateside.

  4. Having had no dealings with either of the named seller/sidekick I can't comment from that angle at all but I am very surprised that the seller/sidekick have been allowed to troll other sales threads (for reasons specified previously) and received no punishment whatsoever. Personally I'd never deal with either of them on principle now (here or anywhere else) as I've always thought these boards were a place for like minded individuals to enjoy our hobby, share our knowledge, buy and sell watches etc and to be honest in all our dealings. Imho there's enough issues with dealers without having people like this pissing on their fellow members too. Please don't sugarcoat what's happened here, the dishonesty in this instance is completely unacceptable imho.

Personally I'd agree with banning someone completely for what's happened here as it will deter others from doing the same and of course it would protect all the other members of this (and any other forum) who do act accordingly.

Like I said above - jmho.

  5. Sneeds first pic is from at least the second version of the 1675 as it has the enlarged arrow head on the 4th hand, but the all white dial print with only "Swiss" at the bottom didn't appear until the 4th version of the 1675 in the mid 60's. It also doesn't have the full, outer circle around the minute tracks which as far as I can make out only became standard when Rolex went back to a T-25 dial in the late 60's. Those service dials sure seem to have differences to the regular, out of the box dials that came standard from the factory.

Good luck with your build Sneed.
