  1. Ti Ploprof would be cool. I have the V2 rep and it's a little heavier than I'd care for. I'd trade out if they rep it well, especially if they get the Ti bracelet to go with it. Seems unlikely but one can hope!
  2. I had same issue, even after having it fixed. (Same on my Doppel Spitfire.) I had Speedy G just convert it to non screw down crown. He recommended it. It's been fine since. Ironically, it's kind of nice to be able to wind it in that position. Reps, what you gonna do?
  3. Funny- on the gen blogs, people are complaining about the sapphire crystal, saying the wished that Omega had used hesalite. Here's the rep with plastic!
  4. Yeah, no luck on finding this dial and ingod appears out of business. Where does one get the MBW case?
  5. Looking into my first Vintage Rolex build, and I've decided my favorite is the 5512 gilt with chapter ring and 4 liner. Something about that dial with a little aging to lume t seems very elegant to me. I believe this dial only came with PCG, which I'm less fond of and could possibly skip, even if it is less authentic. I'm trying to not break the bank, so looking at couple of low to mid price options. One is the HR version. They said they can do the dial printing as I indicated, so all I would need to do is get some aging done, maybe find a bracelet. Maybe replace pearl. I like the idea of sapphire glass for practice reasons. This runs around $600 + aging. Another option might be the Perfect Clones model, sourcing a dial, then aging. Seems like the the pearl and insert might need to be replaced too. It does come with bracelet as well. Should be less than HR, maybe under $500 + mods. Any other good options for similar price points? I'm not sure if either case offers clear advantages over another. Another concern is quality of the HR dial or whether there's a better aftermarket version that that will fit either of these cases/movements. I've noticed Yuki doesn't have correct colors for the 4 liner. Ingod seems to but I'm unclear about whether they're still in business. http://www.ingod44.com/rolex-submariner-chapter-gilt-dial-ref-5512-4line/ I'm also open to suggestions for US dial modders- just looking for some light aging, mostly to get the lume more yellow. I'm pretty terrible at DIY things so probably better to outsource. I've gathered the lugs may need drilling or other things but not quite clear. Here's what I'm going for:
  6. Thanks for info. I've been reconsidering towards a 5512 4 liner gilt now because I realize I prefer the larger case size and the chapter dial version; the 4 line because of the contrasting text colors adds something to me. Please let me know if anyone has any specific dealer models that way. I'm unclear if 5513 case is the same as 5512 but will look at cartel 5513 since that got mentioned here. Regarding ingod44, I see their site is up but they don't have contact link to verify stock or anything. Did you have reason to think they're out of business?
  7. I've been thinking about a vintage Sub build for sometime and am looking to do something fairly simple, like buy a case with good insert, dome poleax glass, etc, and then maybe only upgrade to an ingod 44 gilt dial; I think those make the watch. (Maybe matching hands if needed). I think that could be installed by me (done some dial swaps in past). and had for around $400- 450. Can anyone recommend some the better out of the box reps (and dealer) for such a project ? I've been into the 6538 4 liner, but am flexible if there's some easy targets.
  8. I ordered an alligator from the watch boys and sent it back as the quality was not as good as Peter's. TWB do have more varieties of color right now. I'm jouncing for a gen strap for a 5001 I have on order as I can't find anything that's exactly the right color. It's hard to swallow $300 for a strap though.
  9. Didn't think anyone could've gotten the rep already and then beat up that much!
  10. Thanks for pics on bracelet. Just traded my spitfire 3717-02 for the new AT2000. Now I gotta flip another watch or two and I will get the Double. I had an extra 21mm bracelet from the 3717, plus a kevlar and custom brown croc.
  11. Oh good, that means I can use some of my current straps!
  12. I can't believe you all are haters on the double spitfire! I'm a sucker for panda dials and always wanted my 3717 spitfire to be a little larger and have more dial contrast. I like this watch so much that it is my pic on watch photos stack. I think this is about to get ordered and I'll be selling my spitfire chrono. Can someone confirm that the gen has 22mm lugs? That would be my assumption since it's larger than regular 3717.
  13. I thought the Slevin was sold out? I guess not.
  14. I like the deep two, and wish they would rep it, faux functions or not. There's a JLC depth gauge that's great as well, not that we have any good reps from them!
  15. I can't tell if you're joking, but once again, the 2000 refers to the WR. Compare to the previous AT 1000. Someone buy one!
  16. No one has sprung for one of these yet?
  17. I believe the "2000" refers to WR, not the year released! http://www.ablogtoread.com/iwc-aquatimer-watch-collection-for-sihh-2009-nice-tech-weird-looks/
  18. I don't know if anyone has successfully kept a rep movement running, but if they did, would it still be possible to put the gen dial/hands/tachy ring on the rep movement as the case wouldn't need to be reshaped?
  19. I have two peter straps and another on the way. I was going to send him my rep BP strap so he could use the rivets in a new strap for me in the near future. These other straps look nice though, they are pricey.
  20. I actually have one of his but the rivets are not anywhere the same. The rivets make a big difference in the appearance of the strap IMHO. Also, unless I'm mistaken, TWB don't do BP straps, and actually I wasn't very impressed by their croc either on a smaller strap I got from them. (Love their Kevlar style though!~)
  21. These are the only aftermarket rivets I've seen that have the correct OEM style finish. Though the price is high at $245 USD. Anyone try them? They have some other decent looking stuff for IWC and Pams as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/Alligator-Leather-Rivet-Strap-IWC-BIG-PILOT-Brown-/110665309928?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c42a9ee8#ht_5136wt_907
