  1. Throw away your cell phone while you're at it: http://www.thedailyb...abs-on-you.html Like the article says: ... Even here it happens. I wont post who it is but if you google a certain gen model watch/model, it comes up with the RWG user's profile pic on google images - which happens to be a real pic of him, because he's posted a lot about the rep. Here on RWG, remember when the upgrades happened and your account was downgraded for a while meaning you'd see the advertising at top? Well at the time i was doing research on engagement rings/diamonds. What should show at the top of page here in advertsising? You guessed it - diamond rings for sale. Same thing isn't it? And for those in America, what about the Patriot Act? I don't understand the concern about posting a bunch of silly rubbish on social networking when your finanical records, amongst many many other more serious things, are practically on display to a bunch official departments who aren't concerned about your privacy interests.
  2. Like the missus' under-carriage it's now pube free and running fine since yesterday. Thanks all.
  3. Those redback spiders i sent a while back seemed to make it through ok
  4. Theres a panatime one: http://www.panatime.com/24vibolewhst.html
  5. I can't take responsibility for the pubing of this movement. It arrived sealed with a bonus. I use zig but think i can take care of this myself. yep, something like a dozen posts in matter of minutes. But thanks for this. That wraps it up better than anything i found online. Thanks all
  6. The tube i have is "st1232" need to order another one... can we get another opinion here please?
  7. Kangaroos, Koalas, wombats, platypus etc - endemic ecosystem
  8. Hi so i need to remove this: I don't want to just yank it out. I want to remove it properly as it seems to be wrapped around whatever is under that jewel and the seconds wheel so just tweezering the bastard will leave leftover pube. The reason i think yanking it out wont properly fix it, is that it arrived working only intermittently. The olde plam clap would get it working again, but as of a couple days ago it's stopped completely. Leading me to believe it's wrapped around something. Does anyone know how little of the movement i can get away with removing to get at the seconds wheel post/cog? Thanks for any help.
  9. Very cool! And thanks to the texture no poorly done aftermarket branding on the dial
  10. You should go halves with the guy whose clasp broke in one of the 60$ cheapies. That way you get the crown for $30 and he gets the clasp for $30.
  11. UPO crowns are a little wobbly normally IME. Not date setting and hands only winding backwards is keyless works problem.
  12. I'm not sure what that means^ but the rest of the issues sound like keyless works. Quite a simple fix for any decent watchmaker
  13. Sorry i missed this reply. Thanks! yeah, they are definitely not the same. I have two 2836 movements on hand, one confirmed eta, one asian. They're the same. And one '2824' (quotes probably required), it's definitely not the same under the loupe. The keyless parts look the same although different finishes throughout the three movements. if I swap in the keyless parts from either of the 2836s into the 2824 i have to use a 2836 stem. Its weirdness is beyond my skill level. Thanks for the replies. Interestingly, the movement I have had most trouble with is 2824s.
  14. That's so funny! A mate is a croupier in Brisbane. He (used to before it fell apart...) wore a quartz street rep of Brietling bentley. Bought in indo, this fake was so poor that the bracelet was plactic-coated chrome.
  15. Apologies, I'm used to using the abreviation for SMSs. SG = Singapore I've said this before but nowhere else in the world is the wristwatch as status symbol so endemic. It seems like there's an AD or boutique on every corner. Like pubs in England.
  16. Yep I see more pam reps in sg than i've seen gens IRL Blue AR and cloudy crystals are often the tells. But also, seeing the 20 something retail assistant wearing a vintage of which there would only be a handful of gens in the entire world is a bit of a tell as well I imagine a lot of them come from Petaling Street rather our dealers Funny thing about SG, you'll see rolexes on everyone from your doctor to your cab driver, they're gen.
  17. Rest in Piece Grandad, Jim and Bucko.
  18. This is an interesting topic Dave. You're right, the kneejerk answer is "Rolex", but after pondering it for a sec, for me it's pams. I guess partially because of the quality of the new ones but for me also because they're the one watch that I've seen guaranteed reps of in the wild, multiple times. Anyone else who spends a lot of time, or lives, in Singapore will know what i mean.
  19. First time back in this thread for a long time. Couple things. There's no balding on my mother's side. On my father's side both my dad and uncle have full heads of hair. My grandad has the same as me and my bro - which is balding at mid thirties but still able to grow hair on top - so maybe not typical pattern balding but balding nonetheless. So the wives tale about skipping a generation holds true for us, rather than the mother's side wives tale. I shave guage 1 but have had people say that growing hair like my grandad does, would make me look less bald. perhaps because I'm blonde. With a bit of sun my hair goes snowy white. i guess the clipper job on blonde guys shows up the thining more than keeping it longer would. But meh... No point stressing about things you can't change. regardless of what it is you cannot change (even bus fares, or the day your new rep gets delivered for example) stressing over something you can't change is the biggest downfall and waste i can think of. Here's an interesting tidbit for you. I have a mate, same age (born in 72) with an almost cartoonish full head of brown hair. He's a white guy but has hair like an asian woman. Two years ago, just like his dad, he went completely grey seemingly overnight (actually about six months). Not cool J Jonah Jameson side grey - full helmet! Dude is very very selfconscious about it, he has it dyed professionally. Looks fine indoors but in sunlight you can tell it's dyed. The point of all this is that even with the golden grail of hair that some of you guys are seeking through toxic chemicals that rob your virilty or 'spot from a mile away' topical bandaids - people with the hair you covet are still very insecure. Another intersting thing... Guy is 6'5'' he's insecure about that too. Mull that one over. Hell, just look at chicks for example. The most insecure women i know are often the most classically beautiful <-- fact. This is the most sensible post in this thread. Second only to my awesome utterings: If you applied as much effort building your confidence, regardless of what hair you're sporting, as you expend worrying about your looks - your problem would actually be solved. Bonus - you wouldn't walk around looking silly with that rubbish on your head. Please dont take offense. It's just that losing your hair if you're a guy really is akin to womens arses getting bigger. It's normal. It hasn't ever affected my, or my brother's sucess with the ladies.
  20. This made me think of a strange thing (or rather, suspicious) has been happening with with my latest sale. I've gotten half a dozen PM's from members with zero posts making offers on my watches. At the first one i wasn't surprised, but after the 5th or sixth, I wonder if its a scammer or TPTB... This is happening across two forums - here and RWI
