  1. G'day! I saw someone else post this sort of thing a month or so ago and seeing as I'm having trouble deciding on my next purchase, thought I'd do the same. Have narrowed it down to these three: Speedy Day Date Sinn U1 PVD UPO Ultimate Orange (btw, are the UPO chrono versions any good?) Otherwise, I have been flashing on getting a lesser known brand as twice now recently (just today again by Lani) have read they're often better constructed than the bigger names. So, if you've got a suggestion for one of the not so big names, or any suggestion at all... I'd like to hear it. I've grabbed myself two RLX's recently and have a custom Pam homage on the way from Getat, so any suggestion in 300-400 range other than RLX's or Pam would be great! Thanks for reading, and I'll seriously take any advice you're willing to offer.
  2. This watch is changing my perception of what I think is 'my style'. Initially thinking it was too small for my taste, it's grown on me greatly. I'm beginning to appreciate this traditional classic, A bad shot but it's the nubmariner for Thursday: *Edit:* p.s. What exactly is the "GW" mentioned above?
  3. Ooh, was gonna grab the U1 but think I'll hold out for the U-black. That is awesome! More pics here
  4. Yeah, I figured I wasn't the Christopher Columbus of Araldite. It does actually look finished now though.
  5. Ahh, my brain grapes had the caseback confused with moon. I think this is going to be the next purchase.
  6. Oh wow, it has the correct case back? The one on Josh's site shows the see-through (not sure the correct term) back. Thanks lanikai.
  7. Looks great! Any chance you could post a pic of the rear of the watch in similar awesome quality to the above? I'm obsessed with lug-->bracelet fit atm and am tossing up this either, the blue day date or a HBB from Josh.
  8. Great story, sounds like a great chick too. Though even more impressive is that you say '[censored]' rather than 'ass' when you're clearly from America.. Expat? Good luck with the nuptuals (and the Skyland).
  9. Had my factory faulty n00b expensively fixed this week (though still cheaper than the "free of charge" fix the dealer ingenuously offered). Fitting that I learned a n00b lesson with a n00bmariner. It was always nice from afar, now it's nice to wear.
  10. Nixon digital beater for skateboarding this arve.
  11. I love that watch^ Lim-ed ceramic Ecko today: Even though I don't know you... happy Birthday Teejay!
  12. Excellent, will check with my not high-end guy for reluming etc. But my n00bmariner needs a bit of fixing in the meantime. Will PM, thanks.
  13. How's the band quality landwomble? Any good?
  14. Thanks for the inspiration JohG. I've just ordered a (different but stealthy like yours) custom build from Getat because I like the look of your watch so much.
  15. It's great to hear all the positive feedback here as I just ordered a custom stealth vintage from them. Inspired by JohnG's post here (but without the skill required to do it myself) I thought I'd give these guys a go. They appear to be better quality than the pam reps and importantly, much cheaper seeing as I'm not even sure if I like the panerei style. Mine is about two weeks away until it lands, but I can say that organising the custom was quick, easy and painless. The stealth dial didn't fit the case i wanted and it's only taking them 3 days to custom make it and ship. I'm impressed and will report back.
  16. Queensland would be great, but you can't have it all, so I'm wondering if any of our Aussie members know of a helpful watch repairer in the country... I've had a high end horologist for many years who I wouldn't dare take quartz to, let alone reps. And I have a guy who has been doing repair/restore (excellent and cheap, located Brisbane City central) for me for a few months - who I may ask if he's interested next time I see him. If he's friendly, I'll post back here. But if no luck, I'm really just talking about some seemingly straighforward stuff like servicing auto's and hand replacement (should i bugger it up with my new tools), but I guess re-luming would be handy too. Thanks for any tips.
  17. I'd like to know more about the j12 too...
  18. Of course. I'm intrigued to see what your shop holds. While I've just ordered my third rep (actually a Getat custom, not really a rep), my watch hobby extends far beyond the rep world and I know your into the quartz stuff so I'll even be interested in that. Being just down the street is good news to me!
  19. Sweet! A parts shop for my newest hobby only an hours drive away. Handy. Congrats Offshore.
  20. That would be a good idea^. They seem to be very American timezone specific.
