  1. Apparently they've gave up on the He valve. The watch will ship with that strange screw instead. The so call prototype was actually the final product.
  2. hmm, let's see. The seller spends about 6 months increasing his feedback with sales of objects of less than $10 (many at $0.99); All of the sudden comes a fake for thousands. I'd say this is a pattern of someone that knows how to fool eBay.
  3. nice custom project but the franken definition threw me off since there are no gen parts involved.
  4. you can get custom dials built but it will very expensive. Normally custom parts would need to be done in 10's (20-50 units) to make it affordable. Having said that, good luck with the project.
  5. I'm not sure if it is or not but ceramic cases and bezel are common with those reps. The question is: is this dealer trustworthy? If yes, this is one of the best looking Kings I've seen. That crystal is very different from the regular reps. It almost seems the pics are from a gen.
  6. do we have any real life pics of that one (not the ones on Josh's site)?
  7. I have 3 good examples of his work (AP, IWC, Patek). He was truly a visionary.
  8. I think your comment " The factories will probably nail the rotor and make the rest of the movement look pretty good,Imho" is a little misguided. Looking at the level of decoration they have in the Caliber 8500 and 9300 I have zero expectation they will be able to come any close. The machining alone will be too expensive.
  9. sorry but for $88 you were not expecting anything close to accuracy, right?
  10. sorry but I don't see it. OK both have hands and a date window. That's all I can see in common.
  11. if you paid less than $150 shipped for it, you are probably OK. If not I'd say you've been taken.
  12. I'm not really sure where to start. That's probably the worst 88 rep I've ever seen, sorry to say. Parts that are totally incorrect - Dial - Crown - Crown Guard - Date wheel/window - Cyclops - Crystal - Cheap plastic strap and that's just looking at one picture. If you don't care about accuracy, enjoy it but based on your post question, this is not even close to be accurate. I think Mary just wanted to unload stock on you. Compare with the gen
  13. care to explain? I have no idea which Hublot model would even resemble any IWC.
  14. don't hold your breath for any decent liquid metal bezels. If they rep this it will probably look like crap (and the movement WILL suck).
  15. depth gauge watches are not the best models for reps. I can't stand one of the main functions of the gen to be just a faux fixed (or worse rotating) hand.
  16. 5ATM testing will be fine for recreational diving. Don't believe the hype. Having said that I waterproof my own watches and I'm fine diving with them at 50ft. Below that I use either my Omegas and Tags.
  17. I have always wondered if that factor contributed to Senna's death. If Benetton had played fair Senna could have won Brazil, so he would go to Imola is a much better position in the championship. That alone could have made him skip the race after Ratzenberger died.
  18. not to take anything from Schumi but he was driving a car that was fighting (and in 95 won) the championship. Senna in 85 driving that POS Lotus-Renault in his second year in F1 put more than 1 minute over Alboreto's Ferrari (almost lapping the entire field) to get his first victory. Donington 93 was cool and all but Estoril 85 as a sight to see.
  19. I don't think my crystal would work for this model. This is a 47-48mm case while the crystal was made for a 44mm case.
  20. if only I was able to watch it here in Dallas. no luck though.
  21. I think they went overboard adding their logo, etc as business venture. Most rep vids on YT are kind of amateurish, no logo and many don't even call it a replica.
  22. the second batch was a mistake by the manufacturer that I fixed with a 3rd run.
