  1. not sure which one but the DW doesn't have the bevel so I don't think this is the top rep out.
  2. if you don't mind a comparison of the crown would be appreciated too. For some reason the rep sticks out too much. Not sure if it's the crown or the crown guard.
  3. The question for you is: what are you looking for? A ) A guaranteed very accurate DSSD, go with BK. He will personally inspect and fix everything that needs fixing (gaskets, parts alignment, pearl mod - big deal for accuracy, DW overlay, etc.) B ) A good shot in the dark - NoobFactory = Cartel = TimesShop whatever the latest model is - Go with Asian clone high beat movements since there's no guarantee you will get an actual ETA C ) Just something to try on - the inexpensive versions. I have a friend that has own a gen and has the BK (well it's mine now since he just bought a vintage gen Rolie ). He can't tell the difference unless when you set time and screw the crown because the Rolex movement will do laps around an ETA any day. Like some other folks said, you may get lucky with the regular Noob version but it's a shot in the dark If you decide to go with the cheap ones you will have something that resembles but will never pass for a DSSD (the jumpy 21js are a far cry from the smooth Rolex swiping). PS: Whatever you decide I'd suggest to stick with dealers approved by this board. Some dealers listed above are not approved here for a good reason.
  4. I'd agree with this when you're doing open water and reef browsing but if you are into wreck diving shallow dives is not an option in most cases. With Nitrox things get a lot better in terms of bottom time and decompression and I like wreck and night dive so carrying lights with my photo equipment is just second nature. Don't get me wrong, I like shallow dives a lot but there are a lot of interesting creatures below 60 ft
  5. I have and will continue to dive with the reps that I personally inspect, grease and test. The case construction on many of them is vastly superior to many watches in the market. 100 ft is nothing for most watches in the market. You can find Casios and other cheap watches that will be resistant to 300ft with no problem. The issue with reps is when they are assembled there's no real QC to see if the gaskets are all greased and in the right place. Once you make sure yours are intact (not cut, bent or deformed) and they are properly greased the chances of any moisture getting in at 100ft (33 meters) is very very low. Regarding the DSSD, I have personally replaced the crystal on my V5 and based on the construction and pressure required I'd say it would easily resist 3 ATM. The advice on the He valve is good. I'd seal that with epoxy just for safety.
  6. I'm very aware of the comparisons but this pic caught my eye That looks like the old casebacks that were not available anymore. Of course the cannon line on the side of the ship is not there but the rest seems good enough.
  7. but how would you know if they've done it?
  8. it happened to me. The dealers have the watch heads and different straps around. They assemble it for you when you buy it. For some reason I got that combination.
  9. nice, is that really the caseback of the Overseas? I'd love to see a comparison with the gen.
  10. I gave up waiting and just made my own. I printed the overlay on photo paper and now my ingy is good to go.
  11. Good one Pete. I hope he sells this gen for the price of the rep
  12. The clone thing is a weird concept. The ST21 has 21j and the 2824-2 has 25j. It's not a 1:1 copy.
  13. The question is: are DDoS attacks illegal? if they are not I can see big companies paying specialized firms to run them.
  14. I have the 177l and the 111j. I also have the OEM 111. In real life the difference in depth is very noticeable. Believe me, that's not lighting. Just look at the other pics Angus has on his site. Different angles, different lighting same flat dial.
  15. ETA 2824-2 or ETA 2836-2 those are the only two 25 jewels that come to mind. Miyotas don't come in 25 jewels and Seagulls with 25 jewels exist but they are rare.
  16. the same issue with all the sandwich dials the factories create. The top plate is way too thin and too close to the back plate. The dial looks flat. All the 111 dials have this issue. Here's a comparison with the gen. Note how in the gen the cut outs cast a shadow on the backplate.
  17. the dial doesn't look that good. sigh
  18. I'm not a lawyer but from the document all I could see are cross board agreements to allow the copyright/patent owners to enforce their rights in a more equalized manner. In other words, if a copyright owner finds Chinese nationals making tons of profit by counterfeiting their goods, devaluating their brand, the Chinese government would be bound by this agreement to provide for civil and criminal prosecution of the parties involved. In practice this agreement will extend the protections already in place in the US and Europe to Asian countries that are responsible for the majority of the infringements. That's a condition to extend trade agreements. Buying a watch from Canal St or even receiving a watch from a counterfeit exporter (e.g. dealer) does not characterize you as an importer because the volume and profit (?) your are making are negligible. Agreements like that will not nullify existing laws. You won't go to jail for buying a replica. Calm down.
  19. need to see the underside of the clasp.
  20. not really true for the 005K. That one does not require any mods if you're not a nitpicker.
