  1. It's funny how they use all kinds of numbers to justify their position. They cluster all the counterfeit numbers to make the watch part seem important. Also they claim the factories employ child labor, fund terrorism but most manufacturers (specially the Swatch group) use the same labor in Asia for a number of parts (cases, dials, crystals, straps, clasps, etc.). I have an idea: reduce the price!!! When they mark up their costs by 500% many only have the alternative to buy reps. Besides I've seen a lot of people (myself included) that started with the rep and ended up with the gen. Nothing new with this campaign. Just the same old rhetoric.
  2. I have started shipping the crystals. Since the crystals are oversold I will allow 1 week for the folks I have PM to reply. For those of you that have I'll be sending an invoice shortly using the email provided and the crystals ship the next business day. This is the most gen like crystal you will find for 44mm HBBs. Correct thickness and Swiss AR (not aftermarket but applied by the manufacturer). Thanks.
  3. It looks like a vintage Cali Oyster. Maybe the experts can tell from which era.
  4. I very much doubt this will happen. Models with in house movement will be very hard to replicate. Look at the 233. A few crappy reps came out and then it died. Don't hold your breath.
  5. The crystals arrived last week and I have been sending PM to folks. I'll contact all on the list by next week. For the folks that I have already contacted, I'll be sending the pp invoice to the email provided during the weekend.
  6. like most Swiss ones, mostly clear with a blue hue. It varies a little with the dial color.
  7. Try this http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/mens-guide.html btw, depending on how polished you want to look fabrics are important as well. I only wear synthetics if I'm using a very modern cut (e.g. microfiber). For suits I only wear 100% wool. Like subbiesrock mentioned 2 button jacket with a lower V are back in fashion. They've kind of disappeared for a few years when the 3-5 button jackets starting to pop up. Right now there are even designers like Armani going with 1 single button (which makes sense since you always leave the last button unbuttoned). Besides if you're not slim a 3 button suit will only help you if they are buttoned. Leave them open and it will increase your profile. Color: dark is slimming. You always need a plain black suit and a navy sports jacket. Avoid the light colors. Pleats: I agree with subbiesrock's advice. Avoid them. Cuffs: french are very classy but you have to pull them off with the rest of the ensemble and you need the right cufflinks to go with the colors and watch you are wearing. They will look more formal though. Collar: I don't like french collar but that's a personal preference. I think they look older than I am. Tall or short depends on your neck. You don't want your collar hitting your lower jaw. People should have necks. Proper size is also important since you don't want to look like you're being strangled or wearing a clown suit. Trousers: get a light gray and some sort of beige to go with the navy jacket. They work well with your 2 button black suit jacket as well. If you live in the US you might try Burlington Coat Factory. They have last season's stuff and usually very few sizes (left over from the main manufacturers). You can buy very good quality clothing for a lot less. I never buy tailored clothes. 1) I have to see it on me to like it or not. Waiting to see that the taylor didn't actually create something I liked it's a waste of money 2) I tend to mix up different cuts (modern to traditional) and finding a taylor that can get me a Boss vs. Armani vs. Dolce & Gabanna look will be hard. 3) For some reason some cuts make me look a lot slimmer than I am but I have to try it on to see which one works best.
  8. try quick change the date a few times and turn the hands manually to change the date as well. If there's something stuck it might get back in place. If not you will need to get someone to fix it for you. It's not an impossible task but you will need tools and some experience to do that.
  9. The 186 is a great rep but definitely you will need to send to Vac or The Zigmeister for lume, put a T48 and a DW upgrade. The CG is not 100% correct and it could get an upgrade there too (maybe a sembo or LH). Very nice looking watch. I'm wearing mine at the moment (with the above mods).
  10. I'm glad this scam was caught. It's bad enough to have to deal with the normal headaches of watch trading without having to worry about such things. I have a question though. The collectors that would be willing to pay $40k for such a piece would go thru great lengths to authenticate it before sending that much money to someone off ebay. Realistically, would he be able to sell it at all if wasn't caught? I hope not.
  11. It's not a flaw, that's due to the construction. It's actually harder to make the purse from one continuous large leather piece than to sew in 2 or more small pieces. In fact many fake bags have both side with the LV up and that's an instant tell.
  12. any pics of the HE valve and quick date pusher? btw the 7753 version is not very accurate. The quick date doesn't work, it's the wrong format. The He valve is bad as well.
  13. No, the GMT hand on the gen shows the military GMT time (1-24) with 24 stops. The regular hour hand runs on 12 hrs cycle. The way to track 3 timezones is the following. 1) Main hour on local time 2) GMT hour showing home time using the 3-6-9-12 positions as reference (meaning when the GMT is on 3=6AM; 6=noon; 9=6PM; 12=midnight) 3) Move the bezel to set another reference for the GMT hand. For example let's say you set your home time for NY (ET) but you also want to track LA (PT), you move the bezel so the 12 o'clock bezel marker aligns with the 9 o'clock dial marker. The main difference is on the rep you independently adjust the GMT hand while on the gen the regular hour hand is independently adjustable. Check this video at 4 min. Notice how the regular hour moves from 6-12 while the GMT moves from 9-12.
  14. not on any GMT watch. The idea of the GMT hand is to give you the hour on a different timezone. Since there are 24 of those (apart from the ones with 1/2 hr differences) you need 24 stops on the GMT hand to tell you that. It's extremely easy to get used to reading the GMT hand. When the GMT is at 3 o'clock, that's 6 AM; 6 o'clock=12AM; 9 o'clock=6PM and 12o'clock= midnight. Once you get used to it you will see how useful it is. So let's say you are in Paris and you need to know US ET. It's about 12:35 PM in NY right now and 6:35 PM in Paris. You set the main hands for 6:35 PM (considering the date change) and set the GMT hand for the 6 o'clock position.
  15. question: could you protect the plate with a wrapping plastic to avoid having to service the movement? I usually wrap things to avoid dirt and shavings to hit any movement parts when I'm working them. and yes, I'm lazy. Servicing a 7750 is NOT fun.
  16. Life saver!!! I had this mod in my cross hairs but not idea where to start. That will save me a LOT of work. Thanks a lot for sharing.
  17. that watch is not worth even the starting price. Either we have some very inexperienced buyers there or there's some shilling happening.
  18. I was under the impression these DSSD's He valves were faux. The case inside in some are just solid. That means you only have the caseback and screw down crown to worry about. Those are usually good for more than 100m water resistance. Most dive reps where screw down crowns are the same.
  19. This model has been discussed for several days already. Some members should have it this week.
  20. You can find MM20's that were never worn for $1500. Asking that for a watch that's mounted on an aftermarket strap (wrong size) with "hairline" scratches seems high for me.
  21. Do you have examples? At least for PAMs this kind of pricing happens for sold out pieces or LNIB that are hard to find. It would not make sense to sell for a premium if the article was commonly found elsewhere for less, don't you think?
  22. you can email them with your dimensions. They might be able to help you.
  23. we are almost there. The crystals should be arriving in a week or two.
