it seems like someone tried to remove the sec hand and bent it. It's actually simple to fix. 1) Let the power drain (if you don't know how to do this just wait until the sec hand stop moving) 2) Carefully remove the hand 3) Again carefully with your hands straighten the hand 4) Put it back. Of course you will need to remove CG, crown, get the whole thing out of the case, etc.

Where did you get the OEM strap? May I ask you why wind a 2824? I will post pics tomorrow comparing the OEM crown with the rep.

This is a very long story (more than 1 year) that involves 2 members and Cartier dealer circumventing Richemont group's policies not to sell OEM parts. Needless to say both previous owners have tried to build this franken but both backed out for different reasons. Now it's my turn. Unfortunately from what I've heard this was an one off deal.

From a cost benefit yes. The $1500 version is still better but way overpriced. This is my first Santos rep but I have studied the gen for a couple of years. The case on all previous versions has been sub par. A lot of attention has been paid to the dials (rocket being the best until now) but the tells are around the case and crystal also. I really don't understand all the fuss about the PWC. Other than a better positioned X XI I see nothing outstanding about that rep. This rep as is will not raise any eyebrows unless you happen to have a gen close by or someone that knows the gen very well. I'm receiving OEM dial/hands/crown tomorrow and I'll post detailed comparison in color texture and shape of all parts. The case needs a few mods but they are not too difficult.

I just received this one. Here are my first impressions: The crystal is not as bad as I though. Yes the bevel could be smaller but it's not that noticeable (the crystal is thicker than the OEM hence the bevel is a tad wider) The dial is slightly darker than it should be (mainly because of the pearly treatment). Not really noticeable in everyday use. It won't pass if you have the gen close by. The biggest disappointment for me is the case finish. The top is very good but the brushed on the side of the case is strange. It should be the same as the top but it appears to be finer. The other let down is the polished edges. They should be sharp and they appear to be soft. Both case issues seem to be fixable with some patience and steady hands. The crown is not that impressive either but again not very noticeable from a distance. The strap is not bad for a rep. I will probably get a real croc though. The movement is very good though. Setting time feels very steady like my gens (not sloppy like some rep movements).

I thought about the used gen route and backed out several times. I think I just need to work on the watch to appreciate it. This will be a nice project.

R2, you know me, my OCD is as prevalent as many other crazy folks here. I won't be happy if the dial color is really noticeable. The watch should arrive this weekend. I have seen the gen at least 20 times at different ADs with different lighting conditions. I'll post several pics with different color and lighting references. After that I will decide if there are any mods needed.

I'm with unreg on this as I'm confused about r_squared conclusions. I've examined the gen many times and I agree in most lighting conditions the dial looks white. However unless you have seen the rep in the flesh how can you tell the rep dial "has a creamy light peachy grainy color"? Mine should be arriving next week and I'll try to do an analysis on the dial color.

Those 2 auctions are for the same item (one is a by it now, the other is a regular auction). I agree with JCYL, the alarm movement is a fantasy movement for PAMs. Panerai never used those. Why pay that premium for an incorrect movement? People are crazy. I'd like to find me one of those

BT, I think Alonso is the big douche bag here. He was whining from the beginning because he couldn't find a way past Massa. Then Massa opened a 3 sec gap in a few laps to shut him up. At the end your boss comes to you and say "yield". What was Massa suppose to do? Win a race and get screwed the rest of the season (probably by long list of "mistakes" on his side of the garage), get his contract torn? If Alonso is such a great driver, pass legitimately. Shame on Ferrari and shame on Alonso who ironically was whining (again) about Valencia being manipulated. What a sorry excuse for driver. I just hope the WMSC takes all Ferrari's points from today's race.

sorry but the bezel is very bad. I wonder how they were able to mess up so much and Josh's site said "PAM experts" helped with this. The so called experts must be blind.
