  1. Thanks, M, I really like the color and it'll blow you away in direct sunlight!
  2. Haven't worn anything "big" for a while so I decided to dust off the Maxi-Dial No-Date...
  3. Ofrei has flat sapphire crystals available in several thicknesses and in .1mm diameter increments. I think the rep is about 29.4mm but I'll have to measure one to be sure...
  4. R, just the rep crystal that came with the case. I may leave the cyclops off this one and hunt around for a plain (no etched coronet) crystal to use. What are you lacking on yours?
  5. I hate gophers! I shot a bunch of 'em when I was a kid...
  6. I've been doing a little work on the blue Prince Date Chrono that Chiman12 was kind enough to sell me and I'm liking the results. Most of these are built on rep A7750 Daytona cases and one of the glaring differences is the Prince Date Chronos have lug holes. The pictures I've seen indicate the holes are smaller than those in Subs so I used a .040" cobalt bit. All went smoothly until the last hole and the bit snapped flush with the case as it started breaking into the existing inner hole. Crap!!! I ordered a couple of .040" center cutting solid carbide end mills and was able to "peck" the little chunk of bit out and today finished drilling the last hole, replaced the crown tube with a Yuki tube, and fitted the gen crown. I would have been 100% done instead of almost but I managed to knock off the cyclops somewhere so will need to order one from ofrei. I also took a "gtrey" Scotch-Brite and dulled down the case a bit and used a "purple" pad to brush the tops of the lugs as the Daytona cases have the lug tops polished. Here's a few pics...
  7. Red - You want to use a #55 bit for Sub and SD lug holes... Automatico pretty much nailed it, to me it's nerve-wracking to do somebody else's case and I refuse to do it unless they completely understand there's always a chance of messing it up and if that happens they won't send "Guido the Terrible" after me! I clamp them to a fixture and eye-ball the hole location using the band for somewhat of a guide. I use a very small center-drill to get things started then finish up with the proper sized bit and lots of cutting oil. The last thing I drilled (My blue Tudor Chrono) I busted off a bit in the last hole and had to order a high-dollar .040" carbide end mill cutter to get past it...
  8. That is one sexy Air-King. I don't think I've ever seen another Rolex dial with that font before you posted it in the Air-King thread. Kinda like I haven't been able to find another Tudor dial resembling this one...
  9. Air-King today and probably for the rest of the week...

M, we might be able to get together and whip up a bezel to your specifications!
  11. Nice Turn-O-Graph! Staying in 34mm...
  12. Also, I've had to machine down the rehaut OD .010" - .012" on several of these cases. One was so big I couldn't get the crystal started and a couple others caused cracking around the edge of the crystal.
  13. Being an "out-of-the-box" kinda guy, I like it!
  14. I love it! Those hour markers are downright sexy!!!
  15. OK, my "Fav Five" just for M... My two Tudor Prince Date Chronos: My Rolex Air-King franken: My Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Fanken Lite": And My Tudor Prince Oysterdate "Franken Lite" And, honorable mention goes to my Fantasy Tudor based on a home-brew copy of the Rolex 1530 case. It's not really one of my favorites to wear but I really like the styling and I probably have the most work/labor invested in it:
  16. R, every time I see that watch I drool! Still on the little Tudor bandwagon...
  17. I have noticed the magnifier centering condition that btocamelo highlights here as well but since nobody ever said anything about it I had convinced myself what I was perceiving was due to "old eyes". I would think that if it was an issue with the Clark crystal there would be much discussion due to their popularity - but that is an assumption. The date wheel overlay issue may just be an alignment issue unless if it is aligned so that when the leftmost digits are fully visible the r/h edge starts to obscure the rightmost digit. Just another reason to build Tudors!
  18. Today and probably all weekend...
  19. Today and probably all weekend...
  20. I do have one silver dial left but no SS 34mm cases but I should get some more in next week. If interested PM me...
  21. I'll have to look, I don't think I have any more of the linen silvery dials left.
  22. Utheman - I don't care who you are, that's punny!
