The "zit" pearl is begging for the "epoxy mod" but all-in-all Noobs look pretty good. You got one of the nice ones without the rehaut engraving, same as mine.
I performed this surgery on my GMTIIC a couple days ago and found this screw to be somewhat lacking in the "torque" department so it was just a matter of time... I removed the offending bits and feel much better. The big gripe is that I see no regulation lever, good thing it keeps pretty good time out of the box!
I get the impression that Freddy indicates it's kinda "fiddly" getting all of the bits lined back up and getting the bridge back on after removing it and Marty sez, "No guts, no glory!"
I have a new DG2813 from ofrei that does the same thing! Will run forever dial-down, but as soon as dial is turned up it will stop within a couple of seconds.
Yeah, I figured I'd be proactive and removed the faux bridge and the stuck-on screw cover. Nobody's gonna see it anyway and I'd rather have something that runs!
If you pry up the little disc you have the arrow pointing too the rotor screw will be underneath. I checked the screw and left the little cover off as it seemed to be just one more thing that might fall off!
OK, been out to the shop with my GMTIIC and the screw that attaches the faux bridge was indeed loose so I removed it. I also removed the little "stuck on with double-stick tape" shiny cover over the rotor screw and left it off after checking the screw.
thog, I remember somebody on a different forum reported exactly the same thing! The phony balance bridge doo-hickey fell off then the rotor fell off 'cause there wasn't a screw in it! I think I need to "inspect" the one in my "raffle prize" from Josh...
Did you snag this during the $29 special? I ordered two of these and the factory goofed and sent me COMEX Sea Dwellers! Still trying to decide what to build out of 'em... The "COMEX" logo is all wrong so I'm thinking aon one I may try to make a decal with the correct logo and try to "fix" it...
