  1. Hope it all works out, just see if you notice anybody at the Post Office with a watch like you ordered!
  2. I've always had to physically sign for EMS, HK Post and SingPost registered airmail they will sometimes just leave in the box... Just a waiting game right now, let's hope for the best!
  3. If it was physically delivered to some other address it would still have been scanned and the name of the person signing for it would be entered into the system. If tracking still shows it at the Post Office then I would almost bet it's buried under something and the OP was told it was out with the carrier because the person he talked to couldn't find it...
  4. It sounds like he is indicating that the web tracking information indicates it's at his post office, he went to pick it up and was told it was out for delivery with the carrier and has disappeared. If this is indeed the case then I don't see how the blame can be put on ETZ. I have had a neighbor bring me a package (watch) that the carrier dropped in their front yard. That was several months ago and the tracking still shows it as not being delivered as it was never scanned at my address and signed for...
  5. What it will look like after too many beers...
  6. That's the same opinion I had when I bought my Noobmariner...
  7. Should be an easy transplant other than the band...
  8. Leave it to Tony to find something like this! I really like that black center link band but I think the watch would have been better off if the engraving was left off the back...
  9. I wuz just researching a "cheap" interesting watch and you guys are a bad influence...
  10. I had to put the correct size crown on a cheapo GMT Master II I bought, here it is with a 6mm crown and tube from e-bay seller parts4rolex:
  11. D4m points out that he should probably not be the first choice for a newbie to buy from and spells out his 12 hour warranty. I have bought one watch from him, a $69 Noobmariner that quit after a day but I did not expect any exchange as I understood his policies and rolled the dice.
  12. I agree, the CF looks killer and is starting my somewhat warped gears to start turning...
  13. Now you know why all of my early experimenting was done on <$50 Subs! If you need anything I might have laying around let me know...
  14. My $85 Milgauss arrived the other day and I'll have to say that if I didn't hang out here with all you clowns I would have been in love with it! But, I could not tear my eyes away from the humongous Submariner style crown! Why some of these rep makers insist on using Sub crowns on everything is truly beyond my comprehension. I think it must be like bands, I've always thought that whatever they have the most of laying around gets at the end of the day gets used on the budget models - at least this one had the proper band! I was so fixated on the crown that as soon as I took some pics it immediately went into a box and I couldn't bring myself to even wear it around the house. But today I got somewhat motivated and tore it apart for some "crown reduction surgery" and it may start liking it. I removed the crown and tube, chucked the crown up in the lathe and pruned it by about half and then shaved off a corresponding amount from the tube. The tube really should have had about another .015" - .020" taken off but as it is there is only about 1 1/2 threads left for the crown to grab so I figured I'd better quit while I was ahead for a change. I have pruned a few crowns but this one received the most radical trimming so far. This crown also is a "two-piece" with a brass core with stainless "sleeve" over top, all the others I've trimmed have appeared to be solid SS. I found that after I turned it down I could pull the two apart so I secured them with a bit of epoxy and all should be OK. Sometime in the future I will need to find a proper 7mm twin-lock crown/tube assy. but this should get me by until then. Since Lani liked my Mesquite background I decided to pull a chunk of Pecan from the pile to add variety. Pecan produces a somewhat mild and sweet smoke and is excellent for smoking honey cured hams and turkeys... Here's some pics, it looks about like all the rest so I didn't shoot very many. Here is after the "partial crownectomy":
  15. Good looking 'Stang, Dems! That's my favorite WWII era airplane
  16. Oh, seems the other pics of other reps made me think it used a smaller crown. The one on this just looks too big for some reason, maybe I just need to put it in the lathe and make it a bit "shorter. Do you know or could you possibly measure the "length" of your crown? Heh, looking at that last sentence makes me glad I wasn't interested in "tube" size!
  17. Put me down as a 2009 newbie! It seems I no longer have to obsess over what to spend my spare change on... :-p
  18. I received my "budget" Milgauss and I believe it has the wrong crown/tube. Is it supposed to have a 7mm "trip-lock" or 6mm "twin-lock"?
  19. I have been using clear silicone RTV adhesive on inserts. Seems to hold very well but is easy to "un-stick" stuff if needed. I also use RTV to affix emblems/badges, etc. to motorcycles after a repaint. I bought the following insert for my next ST project, I don't know if it would fit an SSD or not, though, but they probably have one. This was $14... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230373426919&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT
  20. The new GMTIIC I have with one of these new gussied up movements is doing about -2 sec/day out of the box.
  21. Geeze, I didn't know the GMT Master IIs had lug holes! Guess I better add that to my ever growing to-do list! Thanks for the pics, I think!
  22. I dunno, Dems, I've been gone from that world and broke for so long I don't much care anymore!
  23. Really not a lot of difference. I would have expected a much more drastic evolution between them. Thanks, Lani...
  24. The folks I work with would neither know or care if something is real or not but I do like things to be "reasonable" as long as a firstborn or body part does not have to be parted with!
  25. I rarely wear it but I occasionally forget to take off the watch when I get into the shower half asleep so I try to make sure anything I might wear overnight is greased. That's about the only thing I'm worried about... I was just a bit taken aback that this higher-end casework looked to be missing something that even the majority of my cheapie Subs have!
