Freddy, I've looked at them but I think they are for "re-drilling" existing holes but I'll look again.
-
Rosnik, That's one of the new "Z" serials? Looks very nice. I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to correctly locate and finish drilling the lug holes so mine won't immediately look phoney. This will be a chore...
-
Well, I guess I better figure out how to drill me some, then. :-p
-
Gatchaman might be onto something otherwise why would they release a new version that "fixed" one thing but "broke" something else that was correct on the previous model?
-
Hopefully this is an easy question - Did the "No Date" Submariner always come with lug holes and if not when was the transition to a case style without holes. Thanks,
-
I have ordered them but not sure how long it will take to receive them - couple weeks I s'pose. Right now I have the Noob put back together with a 2813 movement, which I suppose is still an "upgrade" to the cheap-a$$ movement that comes in Noobs...
-
It is rare that I ever consider buying a "high end" rep but I believe I will order one of these upgraded DG2813 powered V5s from Chris and Co.
-
Good to know, thanks.
-
Thanks, Toad, I'm half tempted to put a blue Submariner dial in it and really pi$$ people off! I like to have fun, some people are just too serious. ;-)
-
Thanks, preacher. I ordered one of the cubic works overlays so I'll pass judgment on it when it gets here!
-
I ordered one and some spring-bars... Starti, I might try making one, maybe printing it on the glossy photo paper... If too shiny I have some matte spray that I used to use on glossy photos way back when.

The watch is now without it's "Submariner" green sticker - I had to draw the line somewhere... This was part of my soon to conclude experiment to see just what one could expect for the smallest of outlays. I have spent as little as $24 plus shipping for a "Daytona" (kinda disappointing except for a really nice band) to this being the "costliest" piece. I have satisfied my curiosity and I'm quite happy with my $43 Submariner which I had been wearing as my "beater" reserving my Noobmariner for more "formal" occasions! ;-) This may be my new "beater" and if I get it too close to the lathe jaws (when spinning), like I have with a few previous watches, no biggie! I'm hell on watch crystals but they have probably keps my wrist from getting dinged a few times...

I think I'll do a bit of research into removing and re-setting the bezel. Do all DSSD (current and past) utilize a ceramic insert?
-
I have just received the latest fruits of my soon to end experiment into unauthorized dealers to see if there are really any that can deliver what is promised. This DSSD came from a seller who I was not real happy with on my first purchase but admitted their mistake and agreed to send me whatever else I wanted (at a substantial discount) in order to make amends. I chose a Deep Sea/Sea Dweller as I didn't have one and I really have not paid that much attention to them. The example I received came with the usual rep Rolex box, passport holder, hanging tag, and other literature. One of these days I'm going to figure out why every rep box seems to come with a Datejust manual! Although I have not opened it up yet it "seems" to be very well made, nicely finished, and feels quite substantial at 156 gm, 14.92 mm thick, bezel diameter of 42.45 mm, and a crystal diameter of around 31.59. The only glaring flaws that my very untrained eye can see is that the crown needs to be chucked in the lathe and reshaped a bit, and the bezel and hour markers don't quite line up so I'm thinking the bezel assembly was installed a little off. Another flaw is that it does not have the correct clasp I have seen on the higher priced reps, but it might be correct for the model this is based on. This particular example had a "list" price of USD $63.60 plus EMS shipping which put it into the "mid-range" of this sellers prices for DSSD reps. Just from looking at on-line pictures of other reps this seems to be a very good deal as I think it compares favorably to copies costing quite a bit more than this. Here are a few hi-res pics for your critique and brutal appraisel: You can see how the bezel is not indexed properly in this shot: Someday I want someone to explain to me why it seems like most low priced reps have a Submariner sticker on the back!!! C'mon, don't be shy, just tear it up - maybe some of the stuff will be easy to fix. :-p

Chris, are these date wheels going to be available for sale? Having a couple of spare wheels in my parts box would make my nerves much better when transferring a DW from one movement to another as I'm always thinking, "if I mess this up I'm totally screwed!" I have dealt with NEO the past couple of days and his response has been fantastic and even more so considering the sale was very small. Kudos to you and your group! -
Cool, and these are the correct diameter and font to use in Rolex reps? I supose the type of movement they will be going on really doesn't matter as long as the numbers line up with the window. This is exactly what I needed, thanks Brightight!
-
So far I've drawn a blank on this one. Is there a place we can get date wheel overlays for Subs, GMT IIs, etc.?
-
Geeze, I thought I wuz picky! ;-) I adjust mine then wear it and time it over 24 hours. I have my el-cheapo sub to about +3 sec/day so I'm done with it - it started out about 15 sec/day slow. I only care about regulating it so it's close when worn. When it's in the drawer I could give a rat's butt whether it keeps good time or not! :-D
-
The change/forgot password option worked fine for me except the new software seems extremely sluggish as I got the instruction e-mail and the screen was still "waiting" for something to happen!
-
An e-mail response from eurotimez claims the 4813 to be a 28,800 movement...
-
I am ordering two from eurotimez. They confirm they have the correct high pinion movement and also that it is a 28,800 VPH movement.
-
My first attempt with 4813 was from Cousins. I bought a 2813 and 4813, the 4813 was gold in color and the 2813 was silver. I then ordered a 4813 and 2813 from ofrei and both were gold in color. I e-mailed eurotimez and they have the high cannon 4813 and are supposed to be sending me an invoice for a couple. Once this fiasco is finished I will have spent more money experimenting with movements than the freakin' watch cost! Don't reckon I'll ever buy another watch with 12 hour warranty no matter how good the price...
-
My noob looked fantastic but only ran for about a day before it started stopping. I was informed (and had confirmed) that the noob movement was pretty much "bottom of the barrel" as far as quality and reliability is concerned.
-
This is just getting more aggravating by the minute... I have e-mailed Chris to see if they still have them for sale and I missed the mailman today and got a note my ofrei order came in so I guess my noob will get a 2813 on Monday. Hell, at least I'll be able to wear it... :-p I've ordered a no-date Sub so I suppose I can use one of my "worthless" maybe high-beat 4813s in it as I can use a thin dial spacer because of no date-wheel w/overlay.
-
Dudemeister, that makes sense, then, why we can't seem to find any! Mastermind, my depth mic is in my toolbox at work so I used my wobbly caliper (not real exact) and got a measurement that averaged around .054" from end of minutes pinion to the date wheel plate. So, I would say if you measure .020" or more greater than that it very well might work...
