  1. I like it! Now I want one again. Who's the dealer?
  2. Yes By-Tor, the middle links are all polished. The bracelet on your rep looks much like the one on the 7750/51 versions of the Speedy, which have a sapphire crystal (domed). The subdial spacing is a great opportunity to make more accurate "Speedy" reduced layout, including the lady version with mother of pearl and diamonds dial. The case and bracelet (Except clasp) is a great opportunity to make 7750 versions with the counters at 12,6, 9. It's a nice watch. The reason I sold it was to create a frankenwatch: a Day-Date-Moonphase Speedmaster, with the 7751. www.geocities.com/mtflight has pictures of the project. Enjoy your watch! Alex
  3. Thank you for the review, By-Tor. I owned one a few years ago, and reviewed it complete with pictures. My review can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/mtflight/OMEGA/ Another difference that you will note, is that the reduced version also has a plexiglass crystal. The rep apparently has a flat crystal which just adds to the list of innacuracies.
  4. Personally I like the one you got better--aesthetically speaking. They're both the same base movement, and the difference is largely aesthetic. The reason I like the one you have better is that the rotor looks more like the gen, than the one you were expecting. <see attached pic> Either way, the back is closed. I don't think it's much more likely to fail than any other ETA, and if it does you can fix it inexpensively (relatively speaking). If the red paint on the wheel came off as a flake and got caught in the gears, it could stop. But how likely is that to happen? Easy fix if it does. make sure you rub silicone grease on the gasket and that it seats properly when you screw the caseback on. So who did you purchase it from? King or TWG?
  5. Beautiful watch! Wear it well, and enjoy it in good health!
  6. Ref. 96090 I don't speak whatever language is on the page, but I think that one is a new old stock http://www.uhrenfreund.com/details.php?uid...atch=tudor_sale you can also try eBay from time to time and post pics if you get one for the little lady!
  7. It is actually a combination of both: the cyclop and the rehaut. Check out The Zigmeister's situation with a cyclop not magnifying as well as the original it replaced: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1415 I've experienced it in person too.
  8. I had the same dilemma, and I tried to remove the cyclops... it was impossible without damaging the crystal. The genuine version should be further inside than some reps. Some reps have the cyclops in the correct spot--they tend to use the glue-on date overlay discs that are usually mis-centered. If you get a replacement glass, it may not have the cyclops in the correct spot either, and unfortunately it may be difficult to find a sapphire crystal that is that tick and bevelled. You can purchase the cyclops separately (good luck finding one with the correct magnification see The Zigmeister's dilemma doing the exact thing here http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=1415 ) and glue it in with the UV cement. Regarding the UV cement you don't need a UV light, and can simply go outside on a sunny day and cure it with the sunlight in a couple of minutes. Good luck!
  9. Looks like you may have to purchase a crown and tube, and have it installed. You would have to open the watch and pull out the part that resembles the valve in order to unscrew the threads and screw/glue in the new tube... then reattach the valve to the new crown, and screw it in. Ofrei probably has the parts.
  10. Ubiquitous... your frankenwatch makes me drool I like it more than a GEN version with the El Primero base. Rolex changed the escapement to their microstella and reduced the beat to 28800bph (and that's the beat of their current inhouse version too). Yours ticks smoother... nice! Have you read the article on the El Primero in the Horologium (TZ)? Cheers and enjoy it... I enjoy looking at it!
  11. That Jaeger-LeCoultre Master in black looks gen... is it?
  12. Actually the specs are the same diameter, but the height is different. The height is 4.8mm for the 2824-2 and 3.6 for the 2892A2. The 2836 and 2834 are even thicker at 5.1mm. But what I meant is that usually there is enough clearance in the case to fit the thicker movement.
  13. Wow. Thanks a lot, now I'm really undecided on black or white dial. I thought I wanted white... now I'm sitting on the fence.........
  14. Through the years, more frequently than you would think, Rolex has changed dial suppliers and manufacturing proceses. Small variations are commonplace... I'm very close to pulling the trigger on ELs white Daytona.
  15. Wow. It fooled me, and I'm usually pretty sharp at this game. Congratulations!
  16. Very nice watch! The wobble is due to the rotor winding in one direction only (unidirectional). Most ETAs wind in both directions (bidirectional) so there is resistance regardless of which way the rotor rotates. On the 775x there is resistance in only one direction--when you rotate it the other way it just free-wheels. It is the design of the winding mechanism and nothing more. The gen is bi-directional as is the El Primero. Cheers! Alex
  17. The seconds hand makes a big difference. Most of the reps I've seen have an uneven texture to the finish. If you look closely that's a tell-tale sign of a gen. All gens that I've seen have very sharp hands--especially the seconds hand. It looks as if razor cut out of a flat sheet of white gold. Very flat instead of "tubular." I had a 16610 and was able to source Tudor hands for ~75 USD, but the watch was stolen :-( The CGs were not all that hot, but the magnification was hot, as was the rehaut. I got it from david watchlover a few years ago.
  18. Very nice! I want to get the orange one. How much did it set you back, if you don't mind? Cheers--and enjoy it in good health!
  19. I use clear Silicone II (by GE yep.. general electric) "window and door": indoor and outdoor mold & mildew resistant wont shrink or crack permanently flexible It's cheap to boot and easy to remove (unlike epoxy). It also helps waterproof watches. Got mine at Wal-Mart by the paint section for under $4. Cheers. Alex
  20. Unless the fit is really tight, a 2824-2 may fit (less expensive than a 2892A2). What I mean is the dial will match the date and so will the stem, I think. The difference would be about 1 mm thicker. Ask one of the onboard watchmakers. Impressive collection!

nice. I had one of these with the clear caseback. My crystal was acrylic. I see a lot of the rep websites advertise it as sapphire--is your sapphire??? I really like the Limited Michael Schumacher--they all look like the acrylic crystal I had...wondering if there is really a sapphire version or not? In real life, IIRC the moon watch is available in sapphire and acrylic versions--with or without a sapphire caseback. Cheers.
  23. Thanks! ETA says it's 4Hz. While it beats 8 times per second (28,800 b/h), those are half cycles (balance wheel in one direction causes a beat, then it comes back the other way and causes another one--completing one cycle).
