Great post, thank you! I have a Concepta 3714-38 in the making, so this comparison is very interesting. I have opted for exactly the same setup you are discussing including a gen strap, glad I made that choice.

A gen 105.012-65 Speedy with Cal. 321 movement, one of the new 42mm Planet Oceans with 8500 movement or a 16520 El Primero project... choices, choices Most likely I'll be stuck with getting a Phong 6265 case and hunting for a gen bezel for my Cosmograph, though. The crown position and engravings are really getting on my nerves lately...

Please delete your post, only VIP members are allowed to sell on here. Also my watch is not the same model you received from spin, it's a DW case with a lot of gen parts (incl. dial) as well as a different movement.

This one is going to look amazing, omgiv, I love posts like this! While I am coming to the realization that spending thousands of $, € or whatever on a franken and projects like this generally will need a lot of consideration, a 16520 is on my list also. I prefer an El Primero franken over the gen actually, 36000 bph and a truly legendary movement beat Rolex's version any day. Thirty something percent of a gen is tough, but the possibility of building one of these with gen everything except the midcase makes it worth it imho! Also the feeling of finding something rare and almost unobtainable and finally installing it in your watch is hard to beat! Please keep us posted, can't wait to see the finished product!

My Cosmograph again

There are plenty of threads discussing this topic, you can find them via the search function in the top right hand corner of this forum. You will have to take a lot of things in consideration when you are looking for a vintage Daytona and if you don't want to be disappointed, you will have to do the reading before you pull the trigger. Generally speaking, depending on how much money you would like/have to spend, Spinmaster's V7750 or a DW V72 versions are what you are looking for. You should be able to get one of Spin's offerings for about $600-800. Gen crown and crystal are almost necessary mods, since the stock parts are awful. You might also want to consider another bracelet (Yuki's comes to mind) because the stock part is rubbish as well. Vintage Daytonas show up in the sales section of this forum quite frequently, this is also a good place to find nice examples. Good luck with your search.

No, that's a 6263/6265 dial. "Oyster" on the dial always refers to a screw down pusher model. Also 6239s or 6262s did not come with red "Daytona" writing above the subdial at 6. When present it is in black or white/silver depending on the dial color.

I was afraid that this was the case, they both looked too good to be true! An amazing watch, enjoy it, it's beautiful! In the end it always comes down to this, nothing beats a gen, plain and simple!

Please tell me that meters first 1680 isn't genuine and the source you got it from! Also your 5513 looks great, care to share the specs?

Essentially the Milsub dial is just a 5513 dial from the 70s (a lot of variations) with a "T" printed on it. I don't think they differ in any other way. That being said, since most Milsub dials look horrible (expect that one from Ubi, but I don't know if these are still around and also it was quite pricey if I remember correctly) your best bet might be to look for a good looking 5513 dial and have it refinished with the "T"-marking.

I would definitely put the V726 in the 6263 and the V72 in the 6239 build, after all they are their individual correct base calibers. Of course you would probably be the only one to know/notice but then again isn't that what this hobby is all about? I understand why one would not necessarily strictly want to go for a V726 in a 6263/6265 build, but since you got both and both your watches would be incorrect in the movement area if you decided not to do the swap makes this quite an easy decision imho.

I'm with Chief here, lugs look a little bit long, definitely not a watch I would consider. edit.: On a second look they don't look too bad, I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Haha, yeah. Honestly, you can almost buy two of these in immaculate condition for 50k!

Clasp and end links look fine, I don't know if that makes the bracelet correct, perhaps there have been some with these markings... Biggest questions for me is why does the seller think this thing is worth 50k?
