  1. "What do you want to be if you grow up"...awesome. Are we authorized to print and distribute these applications? My daughter is fourteen and....yeah.
  2. Once you go big, there's no going back. My Note 2 has largely replaced my laptops and tablets. For me, it's the ideal form factor for wasting time and reading 20/7 (gotta sleep sometime). You will adjust to the size and it will quickly become "normal". People still give me grief about holding a toaster to my ear, but their phones feel like toys to me. Edit: this week's been good to me toy-wise as well! Received my CrPO from sead yesterday and a gen Speedmaster this morning. Wish I could wear them both at the same time.
  3. Oh boy. She does know that females are mythical creatures on internet forums and receive a LOT of attention, right? I'm keeping my daughter off of the nets until she's 45.
  4. Not so perfect timing. My 42mm CrPO from sead showed up today but I sent my 2254 away yesterday on a trade. I still wonder if I should have kept the 2254.50, since they are no longer produced. My fear was that Speedmaster prices were going to start climbing (even though there are hundreds of thousands of them) in light of Omega's recent and ongoing price increases. The SMP used to retail for $1400 and I picked mine up for $500 more than that earlier this year. The current entry point for a Speedy Pro is around $2400 - and I refuse to pay more than that for a watch. Figured I'd get my original dream watch now before pricing goes too high. On the plus side:
  5. Well, disregard this since I traded the watch for a Speedmaster.
  6. Wow! I have a black dial Asian SOSF but it doesn't look nearly as nice as this one. Beautiful. What impresses me about my fish is that it's my most accurate watch - even when compared to gen Seamaster, SW200 Oris TT1, Hamilton 7750, and my other watches. After sitting in its box for years, I pulled it out, wound it, and it lost zero time over the course of two days. For comparison, my 2254.40 loses 8-10 sec/day!

A 30 second google search turned up those listed above and many others.
  8. This is a case in which idiot buyer meets idiot seller. It's like destiny.
  9. So, a REALLY cool mod I stumbled upon was the swapping of a 42mm PO bezel assembly onto a gen SMP 2254.50. The oem scalloped bezel on the 2254.50 is horribly slick and difficult to turn - a problem that is remedied by the PO coin edge. I want to do this to my gen SMP but do not want to pay $300 for a gen bezel from Ofrei. My question: does anyone know whether gen and rep bezels are interchangeable and if so, where can a rep bezel assembly be obtained? TIA Pic borrowed from web:
  10. A full automatic chronograph service for $100-200? Who do you know that will perform that work for that price? I get quoted $350+ for servicing plain 3-hand auto movements.
  11. If it's an automatic Speedmaster Reduced, a service will run $600+ at an independent shop - probably more through Omega. The Reduced uses an ETA base with a DB chrono module which is typically replaced if there are issues. It sounds as if your watch has problems which may require more parts and more labor, above and beyond the cost of a standard service. Unless...you have a handwind Speedy Pro, in which you can wind the crown yourself. For free. How does one lose a Speedmaster for five years?
  12. The Strap Smith has how-to vids on his website, including one on breaking in new straps. Not sure if we're allowed to post links here but just google "Strap Smith".
  13. There are No good Speedmaster reps...anywhere. This pains me because it's my favorite watch but I don't want to pay for the gen plus its servicing costs.
  14. The movement that came with that watch was the Asian copy of the Valjoux 7750 and they are notorious for finicky operation due to the relatively high complexity of an automatic chronograph. Andrew probably just swapped the problematic movement for another one of the same type, which can lead to more of the same problems or maybe even worse problems. Like the previous responder said, you should send the watch to a competent watchmaker who can tear down and service the movement. It is possible that a service will fix the problems but it is not guaranteed. I've not had any troubles with my A7750 watches, but I could just be lucky. The other alternative is to find and buy an actual Swiss 7750 movement. Not sure about current pricing but I imagine you could find one in the $350-450 range + the cost of swapping dial and hands.
  15. Man...hitting golf balls is something I avoid doing with even gen mechanicals. The most shock I absorb while wearing mechanical watches is shooting handguns. Nice PO. A noob 42mm CrPO is on its way to me from sead. Hopefully will receive it in a few days.
  16. The clasp engraving is high quality, suggesting that it's genuine. ...I mean...it's a poor replica. I'll give you $20 for it
  17. I have not been a regular member here (spend most of my time at WUS and RG) but I came across this thread today. Even though I don't know Cats, I am truly saddened by this news and can't imagine the worry he's feeling for his son and family right now. We as men and fathers tend to not worry much about ourselves but more for those that love and depend on us. I know my biggest fear regarding something happening to me is what would become of my family. Anyway, my family and I are dealing with a less dire but still very serious situation with my wife. She has received the absolute best of care and clinical trials at the cancer hospital at Ohio State University. If you are at all able, I suggest you reach out to the specialists at OSU to see if they have more options for you. I personally know lots of people who were given a poor prognosis by their local doctors but have experienced success at OSU. Not saying this will work for you and I don't know where you're being treated now, but maybe it's an option. Best of luck to you and your family and I hope everything turns out ok for you guys. Edit: patients from all over the world come to OSU for treatment. I thought we were "not local", living 75 miles away - but we've met fellow patients from Singapore and Alaska!
  18. I'd like to know as well. Consensus is that it's sold out everywhere.
  19. I have a ton of 22mm springbars laying around, but I think they're too thick for the UPO bracelet (might fit the strap). Bought these on eBay for my UPO, which is no longer with me. Let me know if you want a couple.
