  1. Hehe, thanks for the encoragement.....I think :o Anyhow, I know the watches and every international item has to clear customs. What I am worried about is how long it has appeared in that status. All 40+ watches I received have only remained in customs for 1 day. It is now day 4 with no update in status. Maybe they are inundated with a huge array of shipments and there is a delay in processing. Not sure. I hope that by Monday, the status changes for the better. Hoping not to see "Item has been seized by Canadian Customs".

Jawo, all of my stuff heads through customs in hours if not a day at most.. usually it goes through the richmond sorting plant before going to the local plant for delivery. No problems with customs. I think maybe once I've had something hung up in customs.. it got delivered and the status still said in customs..

give it a day or two...

  2. I didn't receive a PM from you. In any event, I would say this pricing is somewhat high. IndWatchWorks will do the "satin blast" for $75. They are high recommended on Paneristi and the satin blast is their pre-PVD process. Then I've got a PVD guy who will do the coating for $40ish. I don't know anything about an acid dip, though. What is the purpose of this?

Anyhow, I've got it on my projects list to put a watch case through this process myself and report on the results. It's just not at the top of my list right now. :(

I think the acid dip is to remove impurities like oils and grease and things like that from the watch case prior to pvd coat....

  3. Does someone here have this beautiful watch?

Do u know where i could get it for a good price?

    Thank you

Buy one off of the Poor Man's Watch forum - PMWF.com search for the sales section. They pop up frequently there, most of the stuff is in CONUS some in EU..

    Enjoy.

  4. I spoke with Josh re: having a gen swiss 2892 in it.. he told me that the gen movement is too thick for the case and only his asian copy is thin enough to fit the case..

    good luck..

    Hi all.

I am a little frustrated! Yesterday, I received my BR 01-92 from one of our trusted dealers. The watch was unfortunately DOA. It has an Asian ETA 2892-2 and I noticed a tiny loose sliver of metal under the crystal, so therefore I am not surprised. I wound it the correct way (clockwise) and set the time as normal but it is well and truly DEAD!

I emailed the dealer who suggested I do what I already had done including vigorously shaking the watch and all would be fine.

I did what he said and guess what - it's still DEAD!! :o

Rather than send it back to him, I am going to get a Watchsmith to fit a genuine SWISS ETA 2892-2 in it.

Is this an easy job? Should I send it back to the trusted dealer?

    Thoughts anyone?

    Scott.

  5. I just got this watch from a friend a few days back - I traded him my 28.8k 16600 for it..

    197949-2414.jpg

What do you guys think? Good trade?

I got it to match my new chain..

    It's turning into accessory mania..

The watch is great too - it's got a micro-stepping-motor on the chrono second hand so it ticks five times per second even though it's quartz.. The pushers are actually screw down as well. and it's got something similar to the Navitimer flight computer..

    Glee!

  6. It was for a Railmaster project but suppliers need S/N and case back numbers....

I also sent a mail to Ofrei (he sells spare dials and i doubt he needs SN) but got no answer.

Of course i wrote the correct model (2503.52).

    Should i give up? :wounded1:

    Go ahead and try http://www.julesborel.com/

They will most certainly have the dials.. and alot more friendly than otto frei...

if you are still hurting for a serial number.. just search around on google image search for the watch to see if you can glean someone's sn off of the bay or TZ forums perhaps..

  7. I bought a 127 from Josh and the same thing happened, albeit in my watch box..

I shipped it back to him for a crystal replacement.. it was the mineral crystal version or as his website says 'synthetic sapphire'

I got it back.. wore it plenty.. and a short while later scratched the crystal pretty deep on a brass door [censored].. for shame..

    Ah well..

As some of you may have read I bought myself a beautiful PAM127 from a respected dealer here on the board. Got it just over a week ago, did som mod to the strap, and was very happy. This sunday morning I needed something to cheer myself up so I picked it out of the watchbox.

Well I sit on the toilet doing what people do there... And then; PIINNGGGG!!!! The watch litteraly explodes, glassfragments going everywhere, even in the underwear! I found glass more than 5 feet away.

I did not believe my eyes, and are still kind of :o

Has any of you fellow members expirienced something like it? I have worn this watch on two occations, trying to make it shrink into my wrist. A big baby for sure. I have never lost it or something. It looked in perfect shape until this incident....

Will contact my dealer to see what he says, but wanted to share this hoping to hear how you would have dealt with this.

  8. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knew of a place online to purchase replacement bezel inserts for a 16610 sub with a reasonably accurate pearl..

Anyone know of any ebay sellers that have said beast?

This is for a cheap asian sub so I don't want to go overboard.. as long as it doesn't have the 2mm bubble pearl that is all too common I'm happy..

    any input?

  9. I just received my fancy new Panerai Catalog for 2006

Interestingly enough it was shipped from Panerai's 5th avenue store in New York.

It was hand addressed and everything.. a very personal touch.

Included with it is the Canadian price list :)

    Oh Joy...

Now I can start minutely comparing potential purchases to photos of the gens

Pictured is my 183 with the catalog..

  10. BTW, If it's going to Canada, you should have a look on canadapost.ca and plug the tracking number into their system. Once it hits the shores of Canada, the shipment gets taken over by Canadapost and all subsequent tracking info is on their site.

    -Kaneda

Cool thanks guys! I'm just used to my tracking info being updated daily(shipments from US to Canada)

I have faith:) Just making sure everything made sense.

    Thanks Trusty for speaking up:):)

  11. Who won the 1945 world series?

Seriously though, your movement knowledge is creepy :)

    artoero,

the 7765 has a date on the wheel. Use in a few chronographs, like Heuer Champion. Westcoasttime has one military chronograph for sale now I think on ebay.

As for Landeron, there is a whole family of them. Mostly they don't have date, some have day, month inplementation with wheels, and date on the subdial at 6 o'clock with hand (Obvously :)). Used in Delbana, Wakkman, Levrette to name the few.
