  2. I'll have one - any chance of a space dweller?
  3. If freddy333 says its ok then I'd take my observations with a huge pinch of salt.
  4. Cheers for info ingelero. I should point out that when I said drilling a he valve I think I would opt for the non-functional 'plug' valve option so would not drill into the inside of the case. Can you send a caseback to phong to engrave without having to buy one off him?
  5. I've got a 2nd generation MBW 5513 case. Was thinking of using that, having a he valve drilled in then possibly getting the caseback engraved. Makes sense? Anybody know a caseback engraving master?
  6. Looks like a rep dial to me. You made the right decision.
  7. Pusher position is an obvious one. Many Asian 7750 based reps have pushers that are both equal distance from the winding crown. The more accurate layout (as per gen) has a start/stop pusher that is positioned slightly closer to the winding crown than the reset pusher. Look at some images and you'll see what I mean. FYI You can get a case that takes the cheaper asian (or swiss eta) movement WITH the correct pusher layout, then you're into dial issues but there the difference is less noticeable. You need to do a lot of research into a daytona build and find what's right for you and your wallet. Good luck.
  8. Just looked at Phong's price for a 5514 case. Not very user friendly.
  9. I've got a 5514 project in my sights. Looks like phongs case and caseback is the way to go. Yes?
  10. If watch Bamford is JCB Bamford, I don't think he needs charity....
  11. Forgot to say, mine's not the rivet version.
  12. Thought it looked familiar, here's mine:
  13. Please ignore above post. Wrong thread. My bad

  15. I've seen them. I've got one similar. From memory I think I've seen photos of the gens that were like this. On prototype subs I think.
  16. Some poor sucker is about to get his fingers burnt.
  17. Dial is rep. Look at the "O" of Rolex then compare it to a close up of a gen, you'll see what I mean.
  18. Oh, yes. Of course. How stupid of me to forget that. Now I understand...
  19. Couldn't agree more. What's the point of going to that expense? Oh, and let's not forget Rolex themselves use ETA movements in their Tudor range. So, an ETA movement (if you want to split hairs) is just as much a Rolex movement as a 1520 ie it is sold by the Rolex company which, by definition makes it a Rolex.
  20. Very interesting. I can only see more of this happening in the future. I don't suppose that we will get an apology from any VRF members for their appalling attitude towards "fake" parts and the people who use them? I won't be holding my breath.
