    For what it's worth...

In my experience cheapo digital calipers are Ok for measuring cases, dials etc but may not be accurate enough to use for machining parts, fitting bezels, crystals, and other things that require precise measurements.  I own a couple sets of Harbor Freight calipers and they may or may not give the same reading on the same part over and over so I use Mitutoyo calipers for precision measurements.  I have a steel standard made to calibrate mechanical micrometers and the HF digicals will not give the same exact measurement of the block every time but the Mitutoyo calipers will.

Ditto. Cheapo calipers are handy, but I wouldn't use them for anything which absolutely needs to be precise. Plus, in my experience, they burn through batteries like nothing else.

There are some good teardowns and comparison videos on youtube for these sorts of calipers. Here's a good'un: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvszAb0Y0Ec

  2. I maybe getting V5 mixed up with UPO (Ultimate) model  :cc_hang:

That watch in the initial pics is a v5 42mm PO. The UPO is the 45mm version. Both are the older, non-ceramic, models.

And the pic you posted from TT is the newer 45mm PO with the ceramic insert. I think they're still v1 at the moment, not sure.

Can get a bit confusing at times, but such is the nature of the rep game!

  3. Yep, that's right as far as I'm aware. From his parts list over on homageforum

This is the new batch of 7mm onion crown, it only available for 1.2mm stem for now. The crown is made base on esdee's drawing which is so awesome.

Crown will comes complete with tube and as always, the tube will has a M4x0.5mm thread like my other crown has to match with esdee's cases. The crown can also be use on original silix 3646 crown tube, but it will be press fit not screwed on the tube because it has different thread. And here they are :

    Details and Pics:
This 8mm Brevet Crown will be available for :
    - 0.9mm stem (for auto movement)
    - 1.2mm stem (for 6497, molly, and other mechanical movement that has 1.2mm stem)
    - 1.5mm stem (for cortebert)

    Measurement :
These crowns are made base on gen measurement that dd send me, even its still not perfectly 1:1 to gen but they already has a really beautiful shape
    - 0.9mm and 1.2mm stem tube size : 4mm on the lower thread using 0.5mm pitch (match with esdee's case)

  4. AP diver is the first thing that comes to mind, not sure how available they are from dealers at the moment though.

Bell & Ross br02 is pretty well repped I think and has an internal bezel also.

    IWC coustea models as well

I think the massive Hublot thing (king power?) has an internal bezel as well

    Gens I can think of:

    Orient cal. 469 40th anniversary

    Halios Laguna

Some Ball watches such as the EMII diver

There's also the Landeron compressor which was available as a kit or pre-assembled, and is a homage to the JLC polaris. Lucawatch on ebay had them, but I dont think he's a seller any more.

I'd post pics but I'm not allowed to post links until my post count is over 5.

  5. -the rep has the exact same hands as the gen, except for the rep still has the rep subdial hands, notice how they are .3mm shorter? Look closely.

how come the right watch looks to have a shorter hour hand then? It seems to cut the subdial at the 20 mark, but the left one is nearer the 22 mark

  6. i'm gonna go for left being gen too. The wave pattern looks a lot more defined than the on the right one

edit: just read your other post about the franken having a gen dial, guess it's just a trick of the light. I'm going to switch to the right one being gen now as the hour hand looks a bit shorter than it should be.

In any case, they both look stunning!

  7. @OSrep: I believe the argon module/capsule is, in the gen, something which keeps the watch dry.

FYI, in the gen it's a copper sulphate capsule, which absorbs moisture inside the watch and changes colour to blue as it does so (when it's completely blue i believe that means it is saturated with moisture). The case itself is filled with argon gas
