  1. never heard of doing that with a gen dial and movement. maybe on an eta but we're dealing with apples and oranges here. movement needed a service anyway so its all being taken care of.
  2. $700 is a great deal, congrats on you first gen, wear it well.
  3. I've seen a few of them. And as far as I know it's not exactly a collectible. Personally not for me. Airkings are small watches and $1500 + whatever the service will cost you seems like a bit of an overpay. Get him to come down to at least $1200 and it is a decent deal.
  4. thanks. already dropped it off last week and having a full overhaul. who knows the origin and wear on the movement so best to have it completely serviced
  5. watchmaker called. movement needed a new wheel (center wheel maybe, dont remember what he said) and its getting a full service. when he put it on the machine it was running like crap, said it would be loosing about 5+ minutes a day and the handset appeared to be wrong as well. Guy could care less when I told him the case was "aftermarket" so that was a big plus, was the only thing making me nervous. Hopefully I will still have it back at the end of the week but who knows now since it needs that part replaced. Even with the service, which is far less than what rolex charges, I am still coming out on top with a great deal for the movement.
  6. good news is i found a watchmaker here in the city to service and overhaul the movement, even though its in a rep case, for a very good price as well as put a set of proper hands on and I'll have it back in a week. this guy may be inclined to work on reps, so anyone who's interested I will pass on the info, the rest is up to you
  7. Thanks Z, she turned out real nice looking, especially on the camo nato, but I gotta figure out what the hell's up with the movement, which is still ticking by the way, although the time hasnt change from 6 in about 6 hours
  8. gonna try my luck with a watchsmith I've read about here in NYC tomorrow. See if he'll take a look.
  9. i put it together so i can take it apart. will post a pic later or tommorow
  10. any idea how i would do that or should i leave it to someone who knows what theyre doing
  11. seems like the seconds hand, but its moving, just not moving the time with them, but they can set. sounds annoying doesnt it?
  12. I can set the time properly, so I dont think anything is in the wrong place. The seconds hand moves, it just does not move the minute and hour with it.
  13. no idea, but it seems that the hands are not sitting properly, well, they def are not. Gonna need someone with experience in these movements to take a look
  14. Here's a pic of the 5513 all together. Gen Dial Gen 1560 Movement Gen Crown/tube (gen stem) Gen Crystal MBW Polex 5513 case from a few years ago Aftermarket Hands and insert So she looks great, and she's ticking, but she's not changing time. Seconds hand goes around and around and around and the hour and minutes stay in the exact same place. Either I did something wrong or these are not the right hands for the 1560, although they should be. Thoughts? Should I send it off to one of the members here to be put together properly, and if so, who's doing that now?
  15. I need the ones that are beveled that wedge into the case. the eta mounting screws are to small and will not clamp into the case for a gen 1560
  16. thanks flex. I spoke to Yuki but it will take like a month for them to get here. Really want to find someone stateside with a set. He is also selling sets of 30 which of course I dont need
  17. thanks, 40 bucks with shipping for 2 lousy screws.....
  18. yeah, been on the hunt, not turning up as of yet, anyone on here got a set?
