  1. Hey, I just received my Pam250, and the Deployment clasp is new for me.

I would really need some assistance how to actually close that clasp so I can put the watch on my wrist. Is it correct to squeeze the one end of the strap through the buckle? Just like i try it in the picture? I tried with a lot pressure but I couldn't squeeze it in yet :-(

Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't wanna break my new watch the day i received it :-)

    Thanks

  2. @preator: Yes, that might be possible. But my wife is a photographer ... No problem to make a film from the vector graphic, expose the cliché, and then etch it.

I just asked her, she can do 2400 dpi (instead of 600dpi from my laser printer). I think that should be fine enough :-)

As to the brown dial. Don't you think that nice little toy here (Laser Engraver for 618 Bucks) will do it? I always wanted to have one.

  3. Hey thanks for the Feedback.

If you don't know what machine I am talking about, check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDCBJKI0pw0&feature=related.

They are printing on a Toy-Truck, but its the same procedure for dials.

The Vintage Daytona Dial looks Intresting: The Dial form itself should be no problem, my simple $300 2Axis-CNC Machine can do this, including the recessed chronos. As for the Fonts, that might be tough. The pictures look as if those dials were Handwritten :-)

  4. Hey folks,

I wanted to ask you if there is any dial that is not yet available for reps, or any dial that has some obvious fault, that the community would seriously want to be redone?

I am asking because today I received my new tampon printing machine including UV lamp and equipment to create the clichés.

I also already got a simple 2D CNC miling machine so creating (miling) and printing/stamping a dial should be as easy as 1-2-3.

Is there anything I could do for the community, something that is totally in demand, because creating such a cliché for just one piece is senseless.

    I am working non-profit

    Cheers

  5. Brian: I just bought a "Satin Brush Refinishing Pen".

Can't wait for it to arrive and to start the Mod.

Just one Question ... I would like to combine that mod with the "Rubber-Inlay-In-Lever-Hole"-Mode from Repgeek to make it sit more tightened.

    What will I do?

    - Do the rubber Mod.

    - Afterwards? File down the top of the lever to make it flush and then make the refinish? (Or do I have to shaver the lever itself)

What if I replace the crown with a SL T48 later on. Will the mod be compatible with that?

  6. To me the question was...'remove all branding and lay a rep and gen down beside each other'

    Exactly. All that is irrelevant.

Yes ... a Rolex Movement is Better (more Jewels) than an ETA one, so the Rollie will be worth more.

But what with Breitling Watches ... all they use are simple ETAs right? What would make them more expensive than the rep? Same Steel, same Movement, maybe not that good Waterproofed but hey ... <---- that was my point :-)

  7. I was just curious how high the difference is between Gens and Reps, if they all had no Trademark on it.

Meaning i would like to compare just the Materials, Movement Quality, etc.

Are there huge differences between Gens and Reps? (Is a Gen PAM worth that much more than a Rep if these two watches were from a NoName supplier - What about other Reps)?

Is the GEN Price really justified? Or are even the Reps overcharges.

    What are your thoughts.

  8. Hey, I've ordered a watch. It was shipped from China, now I was checking the tracking site and found the following:

Will I get that watch or am I most likely to experience some difficulties?

    Regards

  9. @wolf: Great Idea, you just need a Gen CG photographed on a millimeter paper then or what exactly would you need? What would you need to do your CAD work?

I think we should go 2-3 Ways parallely though so:

    Another Idea that I have.

Is anyone here who has a GENand has a Webcam+Line-Laser-Pointer.

If so then we could think about creating a 3D scan. Free Software for that is available here: http://www.david-laserscanner.com/

edit: I am looking for Gens on chrono24.com right now! If I could lower the price to around 3900 EUROS (5429 USD) I would get one of these, disassemble the CG, do some photographs, and "catch-and-release" the watch on ebay again. (Or in the Gen section here :thumbsupsmileyanim: )

Better would be if anyone in here already had the gen.

  10. @maxman: I will definitely try to get this done before the rep factories upgrade ... even if it's just for the sake of our love to reps.

I am really thinking about getting one of the Aftermarket CGs on ebay to laser-measure them ... but they are not the correct one for the daylights/chronos as they look slightly different (holes for the pushers). Any ideas on this?

I am sure we could have this done within 3-4 weeks :-)
